Epilogue

She had dreamed of this moment. She knew her brother to be a good person; every moment she had spent with him she had seen the pureness in his heart. But the day of their birthday had made him a broken man.

But now was not the time to dwell on past times. To decimate darkness required her full strength, especially the Daemoni. They were servants of evil and a stain upon her beautiful world, hence they must be removed.

She approached the hooded figures, forcing steel into her posture. Despite the darkness that radiated off their broad figures she would not flinch. She would not back down because light never would.

The leader stepped forward, black velvet cloak rustling.

"Goddess." He acknowledged, watching from beneath his shroud of darkness as she removed her hood, glaring coolly at the group of men.

"Khalid." The name felt like poison on her tongue. Her brother had created the Daemoni with one purpose: to bring darkness to the cosmos. Khalid was the most powerful of them and Dea Kali despised him.

"I didn't think you would come."

"I do not fear you." She said crisply. He chuckled, sounding like a growl.

"Not yet."

"Say what you want, Khalid, but your darkness will be eradicated. If not by me, by others. But I will most certainly try." With that she allowed her power to come forth, surge through her veins and cover her body in a bright glow. The Daemoni hissed at the light and ribbons of oily black snaked from their bodies, like eager fingers as they came towards the Goddess. Dea Kali grabbed the ribbons and yanked, pulling the Daemoni one by one towards her. Calling on her power, she pressed a shining hand to their chests and forced her power into them. They burst into a fine, black ash. With every Daemoni gone, her power grew in power and she struggled to contain it.

When the silence descended, Dea Kali sighed and searched the air for remaining signs of darkness. When she detected a pungent, rank odor, stronger than the others, she snarled in frustration.

Khalid had escaped.

It did not matter. He could enjoy the last centuries of his life because when the Prophesied One came for him there would be nowhere left to run.
