You're The Bomb [Chapter 26]

Disclaimer: I didn't bring up Daniel in this chapter to be at all disrespectful, but more as to pay my respects, as it has been a year since he passed away.

We miss you, Daniel Kyre, you are a true inspiration and you're forever in our hearts. <3

-----------------------------------

Come on... Just answer your damn phone...

Mark was really starting to get worried, when maybe an hour had passed, and it was starting to climb up to 4am. Jack still hadn't come home, and he hadn't heard a single thing from him. No calls, no texts, nothing.

Had he really screwed up that badly? He didn't mean to be such an asshole... Jack had every right to be angry with him, if that's why he wasn't answering his phone.

"Please, Jack... Please..." Mark whispered, starting to bite his fingernails, as he dialed again and waited for Jack's voice to boom down the phone. But, like the several tries prior, it went to voicemail after a couple of rings.

Oh god...

Where was he...? Where could Jack possibly go at 4am in the morning? Mark was really thinking of looking for him, to just throw on his coat and go around trying to find him. But where would he look?

Suddenly, his phone started to ring within his hand. He let out a small yelp of surprise, and quickly answered it without even looking at his screen to check who was calling.

"Jack?!" Mark cried, sounding totally shat up.

"Mark?" Jack's voice spoke on the other side of the phone. Mark let out a sigh of relief when he heard him. "Have you been trying to call me?"

"Yes! Where are you! I'm fucking worried about you!"

"I've just been walking around, tryin' to clear my thoughts. Look, I'm sorry for what happened, Mark. I--"

"No, Jack. Don't you dare apologize to me. I was the one who was the douche, not you. You had every right to stand up for yourself." Mark admitted, without even hesitating. Jack stayed silent. "I'm so, so sorry... Jack, I... I didn't mean anything that I said... I just... It's been a long day and... There's just things coming up that I really don't want to think about. At least, not right now, being in the mood that I'm in.. I'm just... I'm sorry..."

".....Mark..." Jack murmured, pausing. "It's okay, Mark. I forgive you. I wasn't going to stay mad at you for such a stupid argument anyway. After all, I love you... I love you so much, Mark."

"I know, Jack... I love you too, just... Please, come home..."

"I will, Mark. Don't worry, I'm on my way back now... I'll see you soon, 'kay? Bye." Jack said, before hanging up.

It wasn't long before a key was heard in the door - a good 20 minutes at most. The moment the red head, saw his green haired boyfriend, he practically threw himself at him in a flying hug. Jack smiled, happily hugging him back, as he closed the front door with the back of his foot.

"Hey you..." Jack whispered, running his hand up and down Mark's back as a way to try and comfort him.

"I'm sorry, Jack. I'm so, so sorry..." Mark whimpered, as he had actually started crying now. Jack frowned, pulling away from the hug and staring at Mark's tear stained face.

"Come on, Mark... Let me make you a coffee and we can talk about things, alright?" Jack muttered, slipping his arm across Mark's shoulders, as he led the both of them to the kitchen.

In complete silence, Jack prepared two coffees, before setting them on the kitchen counter in front of them. They both took the warm mugs into their hands, eventually starting to drink them when they had cold down enough to even be considered as drinkable.

Finally, Mark spoke.

"I've just been feeling so down because... Well, you know what the date today is, right?" Mark sighed, setting his cup back down. Jack frowned.

"September the 16th?" Jack answered, staring back at Mark, with an expression that showed he was slightly confused.

"Exactly. It's been... Well, it's been exactly a year since what happened to Daniel." Mark pointed out, crossing his arms and leaning against the counter. Jack's eyes widened, as it had finally hit him.

Jesus christ... Had it really been an entire year already?

"Oh god..." Jack mumbled. "I'm sorry, Mark... You... I understand why you're so upset... I mean, you were really close to him. I feel bad for not gettin' to know him better."

"It's still no excuse to be shitty to you though. I'm still sorry."

"No, Mark. I get it, it's a rough time. You don't have to apologize to me, really... It's okay... And I get you're just tryin' to look out for me. You're just looking out for my health, I know that." Jack replied, giving Mark's shoulder a friendly squeeze. Mark nodded a little.

"You're too damn forgiving, you know that?" Mark grinned. Jack chuckled.

"Yeah, so are you." Jack pointed out.

"Mhm... I just hope Ryan and Matt are okay. I noticed they seemed just as gloomy as I was when they came by to see us."

"Yeah, I thought so too... But you guys will get through it. As hard as it'll be, I'm sure Daniel is keeping a close eye on you guys from a better place." Jack smiled, trying to reassure his boyfriend.

"Yeah, I'd like to think so too." Mark answered. "Hey, Jack... Can I ask you something?"

"What?" Jack wondered.

"Would you... I mean, would you like to visit his grave on Sunday...? Obviously, with it being a whole year since what happened, I'd like to be able to pay my respects. I'm sure Ryan and Matt would be there too."

"Eh, I don't know, Mark. I feel like it would be disrespectful, as I didn't really know him as well as you, Ryan and Matt did, or his family for that matter."

"No, Jack. C'mon, please? It'd mean a lot to me, and I think it could have meant something to him too."

Jack sighed. ".....Alright, Mark...."

****

So, when it came down to it, it finally reached the 18th of September, making it a full year since the anniversary of Daniel's death. As promised, Mark, Ryan, Matt and even Jack went to see his grave, each saying words of grace when they got the chance.

"We really miss you, Daniel." Mark said, feeling himself starting to tear up. Again, Jack tried to ease his emotions, by putting his arm across his shoulders. "Do you wanna say anything, Jack?" Mark asked.

Jack thought for a moment, wondering just exactly what to say. He sighed, closing his eyes for a moment, before reopening them and opening them again.

"Hey Daniel, I'm Jack. It's a shame that I never really got the chance to know you before everything went down but... I did see you in videos with the others, and I thought you were truly amazing. Inspiring, especially with your music... You were such an innocent soul, and it does still break my heart to know that you've been gone for a whole year... May you continue to rest in peace, Daniel." Jack finished, realizing that he too, now had tears going down his own face. The three others smiled at him, obviously touched by his kind words. All four of them stared back down towards his grave, a short silence falling upon all of them.

...

"You're the bomb, Daniel..."

Author note: Felt pretty emotional writing this chapter... Still can't believe it's been a year already. It's crazy.

I can't imagine how Mark, Ryan, Matt and Daniel's family are feeling at the moment. I mean, I know they're probably trying to make the best of it, but you can never get over such a loss... So I honestly send them all of my love. <3

Daniel seemed like such a funny, sweet and inspiring human being, and it breaks my heart that I didn't get to really know him that well before he died. It just shows how much people can hide. But I suppose he's in a better place now...

If you're someone who is going through a rough time, please always remember that you're never alone. And I'm sorry if that feels cliché, and if it feels like I'm trying to blow smoke up your ass and telling you what you want to hear, I'm not. The future is filled with many possibilities, and just because things may seem shitty now, doesn't mean they always will be. Things can get better, you just don't know it yet.

Anyway, thank you guys so much for reading this chapter. If you LIKED it, PUNCH that vote button in the face, LIKE A BOSS!!! And, high fives all 'round! Wpshh! Wpshh! Thank you guys and I will see all you dudes, IN THE NEXT CHAPTER!!!
