Everything Hurts [Chapter 28]

"No, fucking, way!" Jack laughed, as he was listening to a story that Danny was telling him.

"I'm serious! Like, it was so damn funny for my mom, when I was just standing at the end of the pond, trying to empty the bag with my dead fish inside, and obviously it was stuck to the bag and I was just shaking it. Oh god, she was real cool about it though." He chuckled, as the group were all dying of laughter with tears in their eyes, as they imagined that exact image in their heads.

Well, Mark was probably laughing the least. It wasn't just that he had heard it once before in a Game Grumps video - 'cause Arin had heard it too and was still finding it hard to breathe over the funny story. Maybe it was the fact that he had had, well, nothing to drink apart from maybe 3 colas. He was very aware that Ken, Felix, Jack, Danny and Arin were having a lot more fun than he was - getting pissed out of their faces.

Mark wasn't going to go and ruin their fun though, because he just didn't want to be that guy. He was fully aware what he was getting himself into when he had decided to come along. Sure, it was shame that he couldn't join them in the whole drinking thing, but if he even did it would be a trip to the hospital where he could probably die this time, after being so lucky the first visit he had to have after suffering from a heart attack. It was then he was told he could no longer drink, otherwise it could kill him. And truth be told, he didn't really fancy that.

The laughter eventually piped down, and they all let out loud exhales of air, as they had caught their breath.

"Hey, who wants to dance?" Felix randomly suggested, seeming thrilled about the idea.

"Oh my god! Yesss!" Ken slurred, agreeing with a nod.

The others just shrugged, and Mark just awkwardly stayed sitting, as they were already starting to get up out of their seats. Jack elbowed him.

"Hey, Markimoo~!" Jack called, obviously wanting his attention. "Why don't we dance? Y'know, like when we went to Disneyland that day and had dinner 'n shit... And we danced! You remember?"

"I'm surprised you remember with the amount you've had." Mark joked, trying to count his glasses on the table. "Like, what? 5 or 6? Geez, Jack. So much for being someone who doesn't like to get hammered." He laughed.

"Well, y'know! I jus' wanted to have fun~! So, c'mon! Dance with me! Ya know you want to!" Jack giggled. Mark shook his head, a huge smile across his face when he had saw just how much of a giggling mess Jack was.

"Alright, fine." Mark agreed, getting out of his seat after Jack, before following him and the four others to the area of the bar where there were many other people dancing and enjoying themselves - just for what you'd expect on a Saturday night.

Jack and Mark stuck together in the crowd of people. Danny, Arin, Felix and Ken had already been lost somewhere in the sea of people, but they could sometimes be seen flailing around and shouting at the top of their voices, trying to be louder than the music every now and then. Mark wanted to make sure to keep Jack close, because he didn't want to lose him if he wandered off by himself. He didn't want Jack getting himself into any silly shenanigans while he was drunk.

"I LOVE THIS SONG!" Jack screeched, throwing his arms in the air as he tried to dance in time with the music, only to jump around like a madman who was in a mosh pit, despite the music not even being that heavy. Mark chuckled, dancing in front of him, but being a lot less crazy than Jack.

At some point, Jack finally calmed down and pouted

"I need a pee." He whined like a child. "Brb!" He called, as he was ready to race right off without Mark. But before he could go anywhere, Mark firmly grabbed his arm with narrowed eyes.

"Where are you going, Jack?"

"To the bathroom! I need to pee!" He replied, bouncing on the toes of his feet.

"Well, you shouldn't run off without me like that, you're out of it."

"Maaark!" Jack pouted. "I'll be fine! I'm not a baby!"

"Jack--"

"Mark, I'll be fiiiiine." Jack reassured him, giving him a kiss, which tasted like pure alcohol. "You worry too much!" He finished, before bounding off without Mark, leaving him standing alone.

****

After Jack had ran off, Mark completely lost him.

Even though he had lived in L.A for quite a good considerable amount of time, he had never been to this bar, ever. So wherever the bathrooms in this place were, was beyond him. And trying to find them himself was going to be a pain in the ass, as he would have to try and search through all the drunk-ass people.

Finally, Mark stumbled across Arin and Danny, who seemed to be breakdancing in their own little space. It was quite an interesting sight, but Mark didn't want to spend too much time admiring their dance moves, as he wanted to go find Jack. It had already been 10 minutes since he left Mark standing by himself and he was starting to get paranoid.

"Hey Mark!" Arin shouted. "Check out this awesome move!"

"Arin!" Mark said, interrupting him and getting his attention, before Arin started dancing again. "Where are the bathrooms?"

"Uh... Over there." Arin said, pointing towards two doors across the other side of the room, which would have been much harder to see from where Mark was standing.

"Oh, right. Thanks."

"Don't you want to see my cool move?' Arin frowned, as Mark was already getting ready to leave.

"I'm sure it's outstanding, Arin. But I have to go find Jack. Sorry." Mark answered.

He then headed for the bathrooms, pushing and shoving past all the people in his way before finally getting there. When he reached the door, he firmly pushed it open and went inside.

"Jack?" Mark's voice called, as he didn't see anyone in the bathroom.

There was no reply, but he could hear crying from one of the stalls. He bit his lip in worry, as it sounded much like Jack's crying.

"Jack? Is that you? Are you okay?"

"....Mark?" Jack's whispered on the other side of the stall door.

"Jack? Are you okay? Why are you crying?"

"I'm not. I'm fine."

"Jack, I can hear you."

"Fuck off, Mark! I said... I said I'm fine." He mumbled, his voice shaking. But Mark wasn't having any of it. He knew something was wrong, and he wasn't going to just leave it.

"Jack, please? Just come out." Mark said. He got no response, but the stall door in front of him started to slowly open, and what he saw utterly broke his heart.

Jack came stumbling out, tears streaming down his face and a pretty bad cut on his lip as if someone had punched him right across the face.

"Oh my god! Jack, what happened?!"

"Some drunken fucktard!" Jack cried through gritted teeth. "He seemed to recognize me. And he tried to beat me up, Mark!"

"What?! Why?!"

"How the fuck am I supposed to know?! He was just all like 'no one needs faggots like you!' Oh, fuck... Everything fucking hurts. I luckily managed to get away and lock myself in the stall and he just left.... But holy shitballs..." Jack complained, starting to calm down as he was explaining what had happened to his boyfriend.

"Shit... Jack, I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have let you go by yourself."

"It's fine, Mark. You don't have to apologize. It's not your fault..." Jack said. "Look, you know what would honestly make me feel better?"

"What?"

"Gettin' the fuck outta here."
