"I've got to admit" Nick approached me as this little post baby shower was starting up, "you're quite the party planner." I smiled, "why thank you, Mr Rosa."

"Babe" Maddie said, poking the side of my face, "are you good? You're just like, staring at Brynn."

"Have you guys noticed that Nick is like, closer to Brynn all of a sudden?" I asked Nova, Hailey, May, Lewis, Zach, Rico, Aubrey, and my girlfriend. "He's like, all over her now. Why?"

"Maybe he's bored" Aubrey suggested, "he is kind of the only single one in the group."

"I'm single" Rico interrupted.

"But you're content with it" Aubrey replied, "you don't care. Nick does, girls are a part of his DNA."

"Is that Naya?" Lewis changed the topic, as I followed his glare to see my ex-girlfriend walk through the door.

I huffed, "what a party this is."

I looked back over at Brynn and Nick, who seemed way too friendly for my liking. I knew Nick well enough to know that he knows no bounds when it comes to women. Seeing that I'm with Maddie, his cousin, he may think it's okay to be with Brynn.

"I'm gonna get Naya and Nick together" I said without thought, standing up. My friends looked at me like I was crazy.

"Why?" Lewis asked.

"Because Brynn is my child's mother" I said, once again not thinking too much. "I don't need her being corrupted my Nick. I don't want the relationship that I share with Bryson to be hindered."

I watched as my boyfriend made his way to Naya, conversing with her for a few minutes before they both made their way to Nick. I huffed.

"Don't think too deep into it babe" Nova encouraged, "I get what he's saying. He just doesn't want Nick taking his dad spot." I shrugged.

"It sounds more like he wants his cake and the right to eat it too" I replied to Nova. "Like he wants a special kind of access to Brynn still, all while being my boyfriend." I sighed again after speaking.

"It kind of does sound like that" May said, "can't lie."

"I'm not gonna be a crazy bitch" I voiced, "so I won't say a thing about it. Not until I see something that's actually alarming. No need to stress myself out."

Rico nodded, "smart idea Mads" he told me.

"Nick, Naya" Jason said as he looked at me. "Naya, Nick." Both Naya and I cocked our eyebrows.

"Uh, I know who he is Jason" Naya told her ex.

"Right" I replied, "you did date her for oh so long Jason. We're all familiar with Naya."

"Speaking of dating" Jason said dramatically, "I was doing this weird name match thing, and you guys had an eight-nine percent compatibility." Naya and I looked at each other before we both looked at Jason.

"Are you okay?" Naya asked Jason, and I looked on.

"Yeah Jason, what's going on?" I questioned.

"You two are single, and you two would look great together. I'm just trying to play Cupid" Jason replied. "Geez, nobody can be nice around here."

"Hey" I said, looking at Naya once again. "If you're down for a date, then I am too. It'll be my treat."

Naya smiled wide, "you've got yourself a deal Rosa."

"Well that settles it!" Jason said with excitement, "I'll leave you two at it." Both Naya and I watched as Jason awkwardly backed up towards the table that our friends all sat at. Naya shook her head and looked back over at me.

"So," she said, "where's this 'date' gonna be?"

"Are you into a fancy night out, or a stay-in movie fling with takeout?" I asked.

Naya shrugged, "movie date" she voiced. "More privacy, plus I'm honestly not a very lavish person, if that makes sense." I nodded.

"My dorm, tomorrow? I can send you the exact coordinates so that you know where to find me" I told Naya. She had a very sweet face.

"Sure" she answered, "I'll be there." Seconds later, we heard a loud bang at the door.

"What the hell" Naya shrieked, looking at the door.

"Uh oh" May said, looking at three cops standing near the entrance. I felt my heart pick up.

"Nobody here had anything to do with Makaveli's death, correct?" I asked my friends. "I need y'all to be honest as fuck right now." Everybody shook their heads, looking just as worried as I was.

"Lewis?" An officer asked, as he made his way over to us. "We'd like to take you down to the station for some questioning, please." I sighed.

"Why him?" Jason asked, "he's not doing anything."

"You're right" the officer said, fixing his belt buckle. "In fact, I think you all should come with me. And anybody else that's apart of your little crew."

Hailey slowly looked over at Jason, "see what you caused, buddy?" she asked, "now we all have to go."

"How did it go?" Nick asked as I came back to my friends whom had been sitting in the waiting area of the police station. "What did he ask?"

"Just asked what my relationship was with Mak, and if there was ever any tension" I answered.

"Did you tell him, what happened?" Jason asked, whispering at the "what happened" part. I assume he was referring to the time that Mak broke Aubrey and Nova's window. I shook my head.

"Nah."

"Okay" May said, "so nobody else, if questioned, say anything about that."

We all nodded. It was only Nick, May, Aubrey, Nova, Jason and I here. Hailey talked her way out of having to come and Zach was somewhat irrelevant to the situation. Rico chose not to come because he has an "honesty problem" as he'd best describe it, and feared that he might rat his brother out somehow. Maddie chose to pick up her daughter from her mother's house, as she's very obviously bitter at what Jason did earlier.

"You guys can leave" an officer approached us. "There's no tracks that indicate any of you had a connection to the murder of Makaveli Martins."

"Hold it!" another officer came rushing out, right before we left. "Just got news of another murder on the ground of Mr Martins' home. Sarah Carson, age twenty-three. Sports injury coordinator at FSU."

"What the fuck" Nick gasped as we all shared different reactions. Mouths fell wide open in shock, eyes darted around the room, and emotion was evident. "Is this a joke?"

"No, young man" the officer told Nick, "this is real. Her body has been sent to the coroner's office for an official cause of death." I rubbed my hands together.
