10. Art Supplies
Last time this was updated, it was Halloween. Shame on you Ana. Shame on you...
// Castiel
The ride home was silent. Not the awkward quiet where you want to crawl into a hole and die. It was a somewhat comforting quiet, because Dean was smiling and holding Cas' hand.
But Castiel was confused at the moment.
As Dean drove and held his hand, Cas watched everything pass by outside. He began thinking: What would become of himself? He didn't want to be a burden to Sam and Dean. What about all his art? It was all ruined and he no longer had any supplies.
Why had he let Dean kiss him? Why had Cas kissed him a second time? Sure, they had kissed before, but as the sun rose to the middle of the blue sky and Dean squeezed his hand, Castiel began to wonder if he could just let this man into his life. It was probably too late now.
Castiel sighed and leaned against the window, looking up at the fluffy clouds floated across the sky.
Dean glanced at him. "Hey, don't worry. I'll help get you some new supplies! I'll get you more than you had!"
Castiel looked at him and felt his face heat up. Dean was staring at him with a wide smile and determination in his eyes. The blush on his cheeks made his freckles stand out more.
"I'm fine. Thank you." He said and turned back outside.
Castiel didn't notice when they arrived until Dean opened his door, took his hand and lead him outside.
"Sam's out studying for his finals...which are in like two months, but he's a nerd so he's gotta study early." Dean says, checking the mail. He pulled out a few bills and magazines, but one letter in particular stands out.
"Holy shit..." Dean whispered before running to unlock the door.
They step inside and Castiel stood there awkwardly. He had no intention of coming back.
Dean looked back at him and smiled. "Hey don't worry! I'll buy you new canvases and everything!"
Castiel smiled at him, trying to make things a little less awkward.

"I'm home!" Sam called, stepping inside the small house.
"How'd the studying go?" Dean asked, taking a bite of his pizza and turning away from the tv.
Sam walked into the kitchen, grabbed his own pizza and shrugged. "Same as always...slow. I think I have everything covered so far. Where's Cas? I found something of his...I think."
Dean stands up and puts the pizza down. "Cas!"
A few seconds later, Castiel poked his head into the kitchen where the boys are. "Oh, hello, Sam."
Sam smiled and pulls out a small card from his pocket. "Found it in the laundry. Don't know if it's important." He hands it to Cas.
Castiel eyes it, the small but bold lettering and numbers staring back at him.
Frank Avery
(634) 180-7037
"Thank you, Sam." He whispered.
"Well Sammy. I've got something for you!" Dean sang, smiling widely. Sam looked up at him curiously, so did Cas.
Dean pulled out an envelope from his back pocket and carefully handed it to Sam. He put the pizza down and cleaned his hands as he stared at the sealed envelope with wide eyes.
Stanford University was written in the top left-hand corner.
"You haven't opened it?!" Sam asked in shock. Dean shook his head. "Didn't want to give away the surprise." Sam scoffed and mumbled something about how stupid Dean was...Cas agreed.
Castiel stood there, wondering if he should leave or not. This seemed like a family moment? He wasn't sure.
Sam quickly opened the letter and his eyes dashed across the entire page in seconds.
Samuel Winchester
1806 Clover Field Lane
California
Dear Samuel,
Congratulations! It is with great pleasure that I offer you admission to the Stanford University Class of 2018.
Sam let out a quiet sob.
"Well? What does it say?" Dean asked, full of anxiety. If his brother didn't make it in, he would be whooping some ass tonight.
"I..." Sam whispered.
Cas really thought he should leave.
"I'm accepted!" Sam yelled. Dean yelled in celebration and pumped his fist in the air, pulling Sam into a tight hug.
"I knew you would make it!" Dean laughed. Sam pulled away and embraced Cas in a hug.
Again, Cas stood there awkwardly.
"You should probably hug back." Sam laughed.
"Right..." Cas wrapped his arms around the tall boy. "Congratulations, Sam!"
Sam pulled away from him and rubbed his eyes. "Holy shit..." he laughed. "Holy shit!"
I completely forgot this ties to Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop...wow Ana...wow
Dean ran to the fridge and pulled out three bottles of beer. "Time to celebrate!"
"Dean, isn't Sam too young to drink?" Castiel asked as he was handed a cold bottle. Dean was quiet for a while before sadly putting the bottle back and taking out a soda for him instead.
"Thanks, Cas." Sam laughed, opening the can. Both Winchesters took large gulps of their drinks and Cas struggled to open his. Dean chuckled, set down his bottle, and opened Cas' in the blink of a eye. He bit his lip and handed it back to Cas, looking into his eyes.
"Thank you..." Cas mumbled, glancing at him once before staring at the floor, trying to hide the sudden heat of his face from the world. Sam eyed the two carefully, a smile playing at his lips. Dean nodded to himself and took a few steps back, leaning against the fridge.
"So Cas, what's on that card?" Sam asked, taking another drink of his soda. Dean's brow furrowed and he nodded. Silence filled the small space as they waited expectantly for Cas' answer.
"Oh, um...it's for a job. Uh- Dean was helping me earn money a few days ago and I was offered a job. I, for whatever reason, declined, and the man gave me his card." He said, taking a small sip of beer.
"Ohhh, what kinda job?" Sam asked, leaning forward in his chair, raising a brow. Dean took another drink and sat next to his brother.
"I get to design a bunch of covers for like albums, books, I'm not exactly sure. Um he said something about how their last artist was fired, but I don't recall him specifying why..." He did his best to explain and set his beer down on the counter.
"Hmm...sounds cool! I think you should take the job. I'll do my best to raise a little money as well, so we can buy you a mattress a-and a comforter!" Sam smiled, standing up. "Dean will help too! Right, Dean?"
Dean nodded frantically. "Of course! We'll have a whole room set up for you a- "
"No! As soon as I take this job, I'll raise enough money myself to get an apartment! I don't want to be any trouble for you two. Besides, you need to focus on paying for Sam's college." Cas waved his arms in front of him. Sam stood up and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Cas, that's what scholarships are for."
"You aren't a bother to us Cas." Dean also stood up and placed his free hand on Cas' other shoulder. "Any friend of mine is a friend of Sam's." The other boys laughed. Castiel waved them off.
"Alright alright. Let's get back to celebrating Sam!"
"WHOOP! Raise a glass!" The Winchesters yelled.

Castiel sat on Dean's bed and stared at the bold letters on the small card. The corners were already folded.
"'Night Cas!" Sam called as he walked passed the room.
"Good night, Sam. Congratulations again." He mumbled and Sam thanked him again before the door to his room closed.
"Just call him." Dean said, drying his hair with a towel. He wrapped it around his neck and walked in front of Cas, shirtless and wearing sweatpants.
Castiel tried looking Dean in the eye, but it became too awkward and Dean was very attractive so Cas decided to just look at the floor.
"What if they already found a someone for the job? I would just be wasting their time." He sighed. Dean rolled his eyes and sat next to him, his stomach making little rolls as he leaned forward. He let his elbows rest on his knees and put his hands together.
"Listen here, Castiel. You can not be a bother to anyone! Like ever. I can bring Sam in here and make him say it again as well. Just call, maybe you can me a job too." Castiel turned to him, raising an eyebrow.
"I thought you had a job?"
"Yeah I do." Dean laughed. "I'm just joking with you man. This is your time to shine." He laid back and covered his eyes with his arm.
Castiel bit the inside of his cheek. "Could I...can I borrow your phone?" He asked quietly. A small smile spread across Dean's face and he pointed at the nightstand by the bed. Castiel quickly grabbed the phone and stared at the locked screen. The wallpaper was a picture of him and Sam.
"I don't know your pass code." Dean sighed but his smile remained.
"1-9-6-7." He said. Castiel turned to him, watching Dean's stomach rise and fall.
"Special date?" He asked cautiously.
"Date of my car." Dean mumbled. "Beautiful '67 Chevy Impala."
Cas hummed and typed it the numbers. The screen lit up a little as the apps were displayed. His background was the same as his lock screen. His eyes scanned the apps until he pressed the one with the phone drawn on it.
He pressed the keypad option and dialed the number. He put the phone against his ear and waited as the ringing played in his ears.
"It's probably a little late to be calling him..." Dean whispered. Castiel's eyes widened at the realization. He pulls the phone away from his ears and goes to hang up but Dean stops him.
"It's too late now, Cas. You already called." He said, sitting up, a hand on his arm and staring at him.
A small 'hello' was heard from the phone. Castiel stared at the screen and slowly put it back to his ear. Dean stayed sitting and rubbed his hand up and down against Cas' back, doing his best to calm the boy down.
"H-hello? Mr. Avery?" He asked, looking at the card again to make sure.
"Yes? Who is this?" He sounded a bit rushed and out of breath.
"This is um, Castiel Novak. You gave me your card the other day when I was painting on the sidewalk?" There was silence for the other moment before the man answered.
"Ah yes! Have you considered my offer?"
"Yes sir, I have. I'm not exactly sure what I should be doing bu- " Mr. Avery cut him off.
"Maybe we could meet tomorrow in my office? We can discuss things better there." He seemed a bit hesitant. As if he needed to ask Castiel to his office.
"Uh-" Cas looked over at Dean. "Sure, I'll write down the address."
Dean quickly got up and grabbed a pen and a Post-it note and handed it to Cas. Castiel held the phone between his shoulder and neck and wrote it down, mumbling the occasional "uh huh." into the phone. He repeated the address once to confirm it and smiled.
"Thank you Mr. Avery! 2PM, I'll be there!"
"I'll be expecting you." He said and hung up. Castiel placed the phone back on the nightstand and turned to Dean.
"I have to meet with him tomorrow at his office to discuss everything!"
Dean smiled widely and slapped him on the back. "I told you! You'll get that job! I'll drop you off tomorrow then."
"Thank you, Dean." Cas smiled. Dean kissed his cheek and stood up.
"I'll probably need a lot more supplies than I used to have! Oh my god, I wont be able to afford anything!" He gasped, letting his thoughts get the best of him. Dean knelt in front of him and stopped him.
"I already told you, I'm getting you everything you need!" He said, taking Cas' hands. Castiel smiled and gazed into his eyes.
"You really don't need to...." he whispered. Dean kissed his hands and stared back at him.
"I want to."
And for some reason, Castiel felt tears forming in his eyes. And maybe it was just the moment. That he had a chance at a job. Or maybe that Dean was being so kind. Maybe it was both. And maybe Cas shouldn't be letting Dean into his life like this. Maybe he'd regret what he was about to do the next day, but in that moment, he gave two shits about his head and kissed the other man softly on the lips.
Who knew? He may not regret it after all.
