ch. 2
Someone violently shook my arm. "Allan!" Ava whisper-shouted. "Come on! Wake up! First day of a new school!"
I opened one eye to look at her. She was fully dressed and her auburn hair was tied back so that it went down to her shoulder blades. "Dressed to impress?"
She glared at me with her hazel eyes. "Get dressed." She stormed out of the room without another word.
I rolled my eyes and smirked, propping myself up on my hands. Should I dress nice? It's the first day of school. Deciding against it, I threw on my usual green shirt and jeans. Also, i decided against trying to do something with my hair. It's usually just a big, red, ratty bush that sits squarely on top of my head. I'm not saying it looks like I don't brush my hair, you can tell that I brush it. It's just that my hair is a natural bush that looks like it's on fire.
Maybe I can impress a cute person with it?
Kevin called us down for breakfast. Ava and I raced down so we wouldn't be late. Breakfast was an apple and toasted bagel each. We scarfed down the bagels and Ava ate her apple before I could finish my bagel. She's a fast eater; I'm not.
Kevin checked the time on his four fingered hand. "You kids better head to the education course. Don't want to be late."
I snatched the apple and threw the messenger bag I had brought from home over my shoulder. "Let's go, Ava."
She slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked out the door with me. On the way to Kevin's, Dominic drove past the school to show us where it was.
"I hope the teachers are nice." Ava smiled when we reached it.
A nervous expression took over my face. "I hope the people are nice....."
