Offense

Consumed by anger and frustration, Camille strips off her dress. Regretting how foolish she's been this whole time, nothing compares to the terrifying sensation of the great goddess's cold grip on her soul. A coldness that turned her skin ice cold, her lips have turned purple, but thanks to Luna, Camille has made it into the steamy waters of her private spring. Letting it burn her skin tender, and the scent of herbs calm her heart. She breathes in deeply as Luna disappears to give her some time alone.

Camille can't get over the fact that she's a disappointment for being immature, for believing that she could find freedom in a place where she's nothing but an offering. What can she offer to the intimidating God of Water? Someone so perfect that has it all. Someone that has the best entertainment thanks to the nymphs. How can a human compete with them? How can she compete with them when her body has been destroyed and her emotions are unstable?

"My virtue," Camille laughs bitterly, she sinks in the water. Beating herself for the foolish mistake of thinking that she could be better here than anywhere. The Great Goddess of Evil and Death glare has been engraved in her mind. Camille hugs herself as she closes her eyes to cry. Staying here or going back to Primavera Town will not have much of a difference. But at least in her town, she has Adam to help her cope with her miserable destiny. "Adam..." his name escapes her lips, but the guilt refuses to leave her alone. The shame and anger for letting herself be swayed away by the looks of someone who's not even human. Camille feels that she agreed to serve him because he played her.

Concentrating on the sound of the flowing water, the overwhelming steam, and the scent of eucalyptus and mint, slowly drowning in culpability because even when she knows the truth. The fear of going back home is greater than her fear of Axl. A painful lump builds up in her throat at the thought of going back to see the monster that terrified her exitance, but the fact that by staying here knowing the reason, means she's choosing to serve Axl, she's choosing to betray Adam. The thought almost knocks her out of breath because deep down, the truth is revealing itself. The freedom he has granted her, the peace she has every night she goes to sleep, knowing that no one can enter her room and demand his way with her hanks to him. The magic and, most of all, the peace she has enjoyed, all thanks to his patience. Thanks to his effort to make her understand that going back would mean leaving all of this behind, leave him behind. Camille snaps her eyes open as the thought sinks in.

"I'm sorry, Adam. I can't go back; I don't want to go back." She cries under the water, letting the heat burn her irritated eyes. Tortured by the trauma of an alcoholic monster that seemed to have the same dead look like the great goddess, to imagine him grabbing her hair, punching and kicking her nonstop. The endless nights when he entered her room with the only intention of breaking her more. Feeling his dirty hands, slowly pressing her neck to stop her from breathing while he laughs while doing it. Camille's heart begins racing as the memory of his disgusting breath creeps on her neck. The water slowly makes its way down her throat as feelings become real. Without realizing it, Camille has been trapped by the shadows the Great Goddess left behind. Forcing her to let herself go under the water, an evil current of energy pushes her down to the bottom of the spring. The water overflows, trapping Camille under it as the heat starts to cook her skin beyond its limit. She snaps her eyes open, fighting her way out, but she out of breath. Her hair wraps around her naked body. Hypnotized by the underwater's clarity, the golden dust makes the light in the room so natural it almost feels like it never fades.

"Camille..." a faint voice echoes in the depths of her mind as a thick layer of discomfort takes over her heart, forcing her to stop fighting. "Follow the light..." the mysterious cloud of darkness that follows her starts to stretch from a corner of the room while Camille's desperate tears mix in with the water as she starts squirming to find her way out, which awakens Axl's senses. The god snaps his eyes open, interrupting his time with Tyr. The temperamental god jumps to his feet as a stabbing sensation hits his temples. He pushes the nymph aside and focuses on navigating the waters to find Camille fighting for her life.

"Camille!" The voice keeps calling as the shadow hovers over the water. Axl becomes desperate by the sight of such an unusual anomaly in his kingdom. Watching her give up the last of her breath, Axl becomes uncontrollable with rage. His eyes turn icy clear as a portal opens up directly to Camille's room. "Camille!" The voice urges closely as Camille catches a glimpse of it reaching out to her.

"Camille!" Axl forces the water to parts ways, exposing Camille's weak body in the middle of the spring. Shocked to feel the coldness of his mother's energy lurking from the corners of the room, Axl doesn't waste time wrapping her in his arms, giving her immediate warmth. "What the hell are you thinking? This is an offense to this world!" His frustration takes the best of him. To see the shadows of death so close to her body is something he can't conceive.

Camille hangs on to him, exhaustingly trying to gain her senses back. But the desolated voice calling her name breaks her heart to the point of making her give up—Camille trembles in Axl's arms. The truth has woken her up to reality, but the fact that she finds comfort in Axl's arms, she'll refuse to acknowledge.

"Let go of me..." her voice trembles breathlessly. Her hair sticks to her wet skin, her mind still trying to figure out what was happening, but she still fights to free herself from him. Camille opens her violet eyes that show the torment his mother has caused in her soul, tears balling from deep inside while her lips quiver. The uncertainty and remorse are eating her away from the inside out.

"Camille..." Strangely, just by knowing that he made it in time and that she's alive, he relaxes back.

"You said I could choose, but I never had a choice. I never had a choice, right?" She breaks down, letting the despair the great goddess stirred up in her soul consume her. His captivating eyes notice her struggle to believe in something, the light in her eyes seems to be lacking, but she doesn't want to give up. Although he can see that she's never pondered the drastic decision of taking her life. "Let me go..." Camille fights one more time but gives up on his firm embrace. Even when the Great Goddess of Evil and Death lives in the same world. Camille can feel the protection she was never felt before. Deep down in her heart, she can relax because her soul trusts him already. "I don't want to die. I never wanted to die." She reassures him as stressful tears make their eyes down her flustered cheeks.

"I know." Axl holds her tight as he fights his own urge to face his mother. But, instead, he takes a deep breath as he gently crushes Camille against his torso. To see her tremble with fear but still fighting to survive, Axl is convinced that he wants to give her what she needs. The god sighs and gives up. His weakness for feeling her body so tender and delicate is stronger than his anger for his mother. He has realized that he's been enchanted by her strong spirit. Her desperation for freedom is greater than his mother's desire for power. Axl's eyes are captive of her slow breathing. Looking at her naked body, he can clearly see every scar she's been hiding, from her neck down to her thighs. Camille is covered with horrible injuries. "I have made my choice." Axl forgets his reason. Intoxicated by the need to make her forget and heal every wound in her heart, he breaks the barrier keeping him away from her. Without giving her a second to reach, Axl makes his way to her lips.
