Dream
"Aren't you a god?" The saltiness in her throat makes it uncomfortable to speak, and the fatigue of being under the sun for too long starts to show on Camille's face.
"My function in this world is simply to serve and assist his majesty, the God of the Water Kingdom. Therefore, I am nothing." Azzel informs her with politeness and admiration for someone more powerful than he can ever be. His words stir curiosity in her.
Azzel's presence feels powerful, but he believes it to be nothing. It's surprising for Camille. How meeting a real god is going to feel like to her human soul? Tensing up at the thought, Camille struggles to pull her hair back to make herself more presentable, but she sighs. "So, how are we going to get there?" Camille asks nervously as they get closer to a bed of sharp rocks in front of the immense cliff. The towers look huge from their standing point, a castle surrounded by cedar trees but a deadly fall for sure. Camille grows hesitant and impatient at the same time as they stop in front of the rough waters.
"Here," Azzel says, closing his eyes; he lightly taps the sand with his staff while Camille forces her eyes to stay open to not miss anything. Soon enough, the water starts to violently revolt in front of them. Camille tries to stand firm as heavy gusts of wind push her back. The waves splash against each other creating giant rainbows. "If we walk around, it will take a while. I believe this is the best way to get there."
"No way." Camille admires how the water parts in the middle, making a stairway for them to get to the cliff's top. "Maybe you are a god," she whispers with delight.
"Come," Azzel leads her to move forward. Camille takes one skeptical step ahead, trying her best not to look down and keep her balance. "Do not fear. We will make reach our destination soon," Azzel reassures her as she notices the giant sharks lurking closer, forcing her to move quickly and closer to the old man.
Sure enough, Camille drops to her knees as soon as she sets foot on solid ground. Gasping for air to stabilize her heartbeat. Azzel patiently waits for her to stand back. Although he hopes for the best, Azzel knows that meeting his master could turn into an unpleasant event for her. But looking at her trembling shoulder while she fights her worries, the tenderness in her gaze while she hides her pain, convinces Azzel to advocate for her. Although it's a given that the God of Water is aware of Camille's presence, it is also a mystery that the one greeting her first is one of his servants instead of him.
"Wait... Azzel," Camille pleads, trying to keep her heart calm after the close encounter with the sharks. "I'm not ready to meet a god..." she looks down at her body, still barefoot, exhausted, and dirty. She can hardly feel legs after witnessing what Azzel can do. The thought of meeting someone with more power than him is terrifying.
Azzel stops. He looks down at her. Indeed, to be in the presence of a mighty god such as his master, Camille is not ready. "You may be right, young lady," Azzel agrees, analyzing her slim figure. Although the enchanting energy overshines her scared and underdeveloped body, Azzel still hopes she will captivate his master in the right way, just like it has done with him.
Looking for a way to help her make the encounter the most comfortable for both of them, he looks into her long curly locks, dark just like the night. Although her bright violet eyes seem to be her best trait, the touch of sadness takes away from her hypnotizing gaze. "Here," Azzel surprises her with a leaf in the form of a glass, carrying a crystal-clear liquid. "Drink this. It will give you enough energy until his majesty decides how to proceed," Azzel explains. Camille hasn't realized how thirsty she's been until she sees the freshwater.
Swallowing all at once to stop the dryness in her throat, Camille can feel it reaching her stomach, and almost immediately, a sudden surge of energy travels throughout her body, rejuvenating every exhausted cell, every aching muscle. Although Azzel can't predict how cold and heartless his master can be with innocent ones, he is intrigued by Camille's heart's purity. Azzel wants to help Camille make the best impression possible to give her a chance to be accepted and give his master a chance to see what he sees.
Walking closer to a garden full of White Carnations, with golden edges. Real Gold.
Camille keeps an eye close as he walks towards a bush of white carnations, beautiful flowers that seemed to be sprinkled with gold dust. He gracefully takes the biggest one of them. "His Majesty is a very private and particular being..." he says as he turns back to face the confused girl. "Although he can be ruthless and heartless to some..." Azzel explains how many times the god has rejected and hurt the human the great gods sent for him.
Centuries after centuries, he spends his life alone and mourning the loss of a dear one. An event that has made him impeccable with his decision of whom to trust. Camille becomes more afraid to meet him now. Azzel smiles with a touch of compassion. "But please keep in mind, young lady. Deep inside, under that expression of irritation and arrogance, his majesty is a good soul. He cares, and that is the reason he is the way he is," his eyes are full of sympathy and compassion as he disintegrates the flower over her body.
Camille observes while the magic does its job, her mouth opens wide as the gold touches her body, lightening her up from inside out. She's amazed to see how her pajamas start to disappear before her eyes and are being replaced by the most beautiful gown she has ever seen. "Woah..." her eyes brighten up in a way that no matter what his master decides to do, Azzel has chosen to take her side.
Azzel is pleased to see her eyes beam with a fascination for her new dress. Long laced sleeves perfectly fitting thin arms, golden details embroidery fall from the waist down from a golden corset. Trying to ease her struggle, Azzel works his magic to tangle into a long twist. Camille can't get over the fact that she's experienced a magical makeover like she's seen in movies so many times before.
"Now, you are ready," he says, reaching his hand out to point at the gardens of the main castle. Speechless, Camille stands in front of a widespread lake where the castle sits on top. A tall waterfall spilling tons of water over the lake where hundreds of ducks, flamingoes, and swans bathe without a care in the world. A dense forest decor the background with green colors and wildlife sounds. "The Gods' World is a sacred world very different from yours," Azzel calls for Camille's attention. The more time he spends with her, he begins to see her beautiful innocence. Slowly leading the way through the main bridge, Azzel decides to take his time to let her enjoy the magic this word preserves. "There are all kinds of gods here. Good and evil, powerful and weak, the supreme and the neutral." Azzel explains as he lifts one hand to move his wrinkled fingers in a circular motion.
Camille gasps as a blast of air descends from the tip of his finger towards the water surface, creating a water swirl that forces the ducks to take to the sky. "No way!" Camille freezes as hundreds of fish take flight. Fish of different colors fly around the gardens and spread all over the castle, like butterflies. The most beautiful and magical thing Camille has ever witnessed.
"His majesty is one of the supreme gods," Azzel lets her know with caution as they finally set foot in the gardens. "His power cannot be explained with words, which sets him apart from anyone you would ever meet. Perhaps I will offer you advice." Azzel stops in front of the main hall. Camille freezes behind him, thanking him for making the dress long enough to hide her shaky legs. "Certainly, he is aware of your presence here, which is why I would ask you to be patient and prepare your mind while I announce you." Deep wrinkles form in the corner of his eyes as he smiles.
Camille nods and takes a step back. The fact that the God of Water knows of her presence makes her a little worried. Realizing that she's just a few feet away from the entrance with all the beautiful distractions, she hesitates but smiles back. "I will stay here," she promises as Azzel turns around to find his master.
In an ocean of Wild Daisies, Trillium, and Agardites, just a few of the ones she can recognize. Little by little, Camille's mind grasps the idea of being in a different world. There's no other way to explain the paradise every little thing is. Butterflies flying around the sunshine mix with fish. Incredible for her to see how the water mixes with the land.
"Two worlds in one," Camille reaches out to touch a golden butterfly that plays around her hand.
