Chapter 3: The Fiery Guardian
"...and then I was like; 'You gotta catch me first!'," the joyous voice of Valkyrie said. The five bladers, minus Valt, laughed to her story.
They were now seven hours into their journey through Aether on a dirt path through the forest. While walking, they decided to tell some funny stories to each other to lighten up the trip. Valkyrie decided to tell the tale of Valt's first encounter with Aiga two years ago, an event which she found hilarious. As she told the story, her master couldn't do anything but have flashbacks and cringe at his 13 year old self.
"Then I was the one who caught you!" Aiga continued.
"Yeah, and the way you crashed in to him..." she then burst into laughter. "It's like you gave Valt a big hug." At this, Aiga's face turned a bit red out of embarrassment while Valkyrie, Drum and the Asahi brothers continued to laugh.
"Well..I had no choice, okay?! He was gonna go splat on the ground! " Aiga yelled, his face still red.
"He's right!" Valt exclaimed. "Also, I can't believe you did that on purpose just to mess with me! I could've lost you, you know!?"
The spirit chuckled. "I'm sorry, I promise I won't do it again. Still though, had I not did that, you would still be lost in that forest."
"You're...actually right."
Suddenly, Drum ran in front of them with a smile. Then his eyes turned to Valkyrie and noticed something.
" Hey, what's that on your neck?" he asked, pointing at her.
It only took Valkyrie a few seconds to know what the blonde was referring to.
"Oh, this is a Bey mark." she answered as she lifted her hair a bit so the boys could see the mark clearly. The mark was blue in color and depicted a pair of wings. The bladers were captivated by it.
"Is it a tattoo?" Hikaru asked.
"Not quite. This mark appears when a spirit finds his or her blader. It can appear on any part of the body. " Valkyrie explained.
"Is it always a pair of wings?" Valt asked.
"No. Every bey mark has a design unique to every spirit."
The five boys 'O'ed in understanding. "Hey, speaking of finding bladers, how did you become Valt's beyblade?" Aiga asked.
"Simple. When Valt first created his bey, he called out my name. We spirits had swore an oath to serve any human who conjures up our names."
" Wait, if that's the case, what did you do before you became my bey?" Valt asked.
Before Valkyrie could answer, a low, audible rumbling could be heard. The bladers looked at each other but it didn't come from them. Then they turned to the red-haired spirit, the rumbling was heard again. Yep, it came from Valkyrie.
"Maybe we should stop and eat first." she said and laughed awkwardly. The five bladers sweat-dropped.
~~~~~<>~~~~~
"I did not expect you to feel hungry." Hikaru stated, sitting on a carpet while waiting for the food.
"We need food to survive too, okay? It's not like we're gods." Valkyrie said while lying down on the carpet.
"Hey guys! Guess what I got?" Valt said as he shows up to the group with plastic bags of,
Wait for it.
Wait for it.
"BEYBREAD!!" Drum, Hikaru and Hyuga cheered.
"Beybread?" Valkyrie said as she rose from her position.
"Yep! My mom's specialty. It's the best thing in the world! For me at least." Valt chuckled.
"I've had bread before but not this kind. Is it good?"
"Absolutely! Please try it!"
Valt handed his partner a beybread. Valkyrie took it and was surprised to find that it looked just like her --- the beyblade, at least. Well, it's called 'beybread' for a reason. Not thinking anything else, the warrior took a bite out of the food. As she chewed, the five boys stared at her, eagerly waiting for her reaction. A few seconds later, Valkyrie's eyes widen as if she could see the future.
"Thi-This-This is...THE BEST THING I'VE EVER TASTED!!!" she exclaimed loudly. She then looked at the boys who, instead of being happy for her new taste, were staring at something in her direction with a look of shock and a little fear.
"Hmm? What're you guys looking at? Is their something behi-" the spirit turned her head to her back to see what they were staring at. What she saw was a tall, muscular form of a male. The figure had a dark tone to his skin and had sky blue irises. His hair was long, blonde and messy and on his head was a pair of pointy black horns. He seems to be wearing a thick set of armour coloured with gold and black. In his right hand was a massive axe.
.
.
.
"AAAaaaah!!" the bladers and the bey screamed at the sight of the being. The muscular being didn't seem vicious but instead was confused.
"Uhh, did I scare you? Sorry, I carry my axe around all the time." the male said apologetically.
It took a few moments for the group to calm down.
"Oh, it's you." Valkyrie sighed in relief.
"Wait, you know this guy?" said Aiga.
"Yeah, he's Spriggan."
.
.
.
"SPRIGGAN?!?!" the five bladers yelled in disbelief. Their yell was loud enough that the two spirits had to cover their ears.
"As in, Shu's Spriggan!?" Hyuga exclaimed.
The spirit they now know as Spriggan began to laugh. "Who else could be wielding this beauty of a weapon other than Spriggan?"
'Guess he is Spriggan after all.' the bladers thought.
Valkyrie sighed and smiled. "Anyway, what're you doing here. Aren't you suppose to be with Shu somewhere?"
"Nah. Shu's got some other business other than beyblading. I took the chance to visit the forest to see how things are going." he said. "I was quite surprised to see you with those kids. Care to explain, please?"
"Well...long story short, me, Achilles, Dragon, Hyperion and Helios agreed to take our bladers on a 'vacation' here."
"Ah, I see. I didn't expect to see them here. You know we rarely let humans into our world, right?"
"Wait, so...people have been here before?" Valt asked.
"Years ago, yes. After peace was established between us, humans were allowed to freely roam Aether with no problem. But then, an incident happened between a human and a spirit. The incident was so severe that the rulers at that time closed all the gateways that allowed human entry into this kingdom so that the same thing couldn't happen again. Since then, not a single human have stepped foot here." Spriggan explained. "Well, that is until the arrival of you five."
"Oh, was it really that bad?" Hyuga asked.
"Trust me, it was bad. Every time we try to talk about it, it brings an uncomfortable feeling. Right, Valkyrie?" Spriggan turned to the blue spirit. She nodded in response.
Suddenly, the sky grew dark. Grey clouds began to clump up in the sky. A few seconds later, the boys and spirits felt small cold droplets on their skin.
"Uh oh, it's raining. Where are we gonna take shelter?" Hikaru said.
"Come, I have a hut in the forest that you can stay in for a while." Spriggan said, gesturing them to follow him into the forest.
"Wow! For a scary looking bey, you're actually a pretty nice guy." Aiga complimented.
"Heh, It's like what you humans say; 'Don't judge a book by its cover'."
They all followed Spriggan into the forest.
I'm gonna end this chapter here cuz it's super long. I'm either gonna make a whole new chapter or a part 2. Either way, stay tuned for the next update! <3
