❝I'm General Leia's daughter. I'm pretty sure, whatever's her business is my business.❞

Adelina watched as the planes all landed in the landing bay before she raced downstairs to meet them. Poe Dameron was climbing out of his plane, his hair slightly damp from sweat but he all together looked a lot more composed than Adelina had thought he would look. She prayed that he had a good cover to tell her mom or she'd get the blow.
"So?" Adelina paused in front of his x-wing, placing her hands on her hips. Her tone was all business like which Poe didn't seem to get as he immediately began bragging.
"So, we got the information just like I said I would." Poe smirked, ruffling his hair and looking the woman up and down in front of him, "You've looked better."
"I haven't slept in days, thanks to your running off every five seconds." Adelina sighed, rubbing a hand over her eyes. It was true. She hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in days because her mom insisted on her being the prime source of communication 24/7. Nara had taken to sleeping in Adelina's room to try and get her friend to relax, but it hadn't worked. Adelina's eyes had permanent circles under them and she blamed her plight on Commander Dameron.
Poe shrugged, "I mean, neither have I but do you see me complaining?"
"I'm not complaining, Dameron. I'm merely stating facts. Now, tell me what to tell General Leia. I'd like to get this over with. I need a shower and I plan on going to sleep as soon as possible seeing as you finally got what we needed." Adelina sighed.
Poe opened his mouth slightly and rubbed the back of his neck before speaking, "Well..."
"Oh for the love of-" Adelina paused, "You didn't find him. Did you?"
"Nope. But we do know where Teka is." Poe shrugged.
"I hope you do because otherwise you'll have hell to pay." Adelina started walking away.
"To you or your mom?" Poe shouted after her.
"Both."

Adelina assumed the meeting with her mom had gone well for Poe Dameron was cleaning his X-wing calmly a couple hours later after Adelina emerged from her room, slightly rested and with wet hair.
Adelina let in a deep breath before she headed over to him and cleared her throat, "Well, how'd it go?"
"Great. I'm actually leaving again."
"With the Black Squadron? I don't see them getting ready to go." Adelina raised an eyebrow and leaned against the ladder to his x-wing.
"No. They're not coming. But I have to go."
"Huh. Mom didn't assign me to watch you this time." Adelina sighed, a little disappointed because she liked feeling important and now she had nothing to do.
"Yeah, cause this is a secret. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I'm not supposed to be telling you." Poe told her, watching as BB-8 got lowered into his x-wing.
Adelina raised an eyebrow, "I'm General Leia's daughter. I'm pretty sure, whatever's her business is my business."
"Sorry darling. She can tell you herself." Poe smirked, "I'll see you later."
Adelina rolled her eyes, "Hopefully not," before she stormed off.

General Leia was in her office, busy talking to other pilots, no doubt informing them of their current situation when her daughter burst in.
"Mom. Tell me why Commander Dameron is going on a mission and you haven't assigned me to him." Adelina demanded.
General Leia let out an exasperated sigh before she dismissed everyone else in the office and turned to her daughter, "Because this is a secret mission and one Commander Dameron wasn't supposed to tell you about."
"He didn't tell me anything, mom. I tried to pry but he wouldn't have any of it." Adelina sighed.
"Honey. I'm sorry but this is one mission that you just can't know about." General Leia told her daughter.
"Fine mom. Then what am I supposed to be doing?" Adelina asked.
"For one thing, I think you need to rest. You haven't slept properly in days and I need you awake for what comes next." General Leia told her daughter, noticing the dark circles under her eyes from a lack of sleep.
"What if I miss something important." Adelina asked, knowing full well that she would. There was never a dull moment on the Resistance base.
"You won't. And Nara can tell you."
"You'll tell Nara but not me." Adelina crossed her arms over her chest as she shook her head.
"Nara hasn't been on constant duty for the past few days. You have. You have to rest." General Leia told her daughter in a stern voice.
"Alright mom. I will." Adelina sighed, "But come get me the minute you need me."
"Of course."

Adelina wasn't sure what time it was when she was shaken awake by her best friend but she knew that something had happened because Nara's eyes were rimmed with red as if she'd been crying.
"Nara. What's wrong?" Adelina sat up suddenly awake, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"Commander Dameron's back but-" Nara's voice cut off and she nearly choked on sobs.
"But what?" Adelina asked, pleading with her best friend, "Nara please tell me."
"Oh Lina. It's horrible." Nara collapsed next to her best friend on the bed and lay her head on her shoulder, "Lu'ulo's gone. Lina. He's dead."
Adelina's heart gave a jolt, "He's dead? How is this possible?"
"I don't know. Everyone was a wreck. Especially Poe. He died in battle." Nara sniffed and wiped away a tear falling down her face.
"He was so full of life." Adelina whispered, "I feel terrible. I've been a complete bitch to them for the last couple of years. I let my hatred of Poe Dameron spread to the rest of the squadron and now he's gone."
"Hey. It wasn't your fault, Lina." Nara raised her head from Adelina's shoulder, "He knew you were still his friend. Jessika told me."
Adelina smiled sadly, tears falling down her face, "How's mom holding up?"
"Leia's holding it together. She's arranged a funeral." Nara informed her, "It's soon."
"I don't know if I can handle attending it." Adelina pressed a hand to her forehead.
"Please." Nara pleaded.
"Fine, Nar. I'll go. For Lu'ulo." Adelina smiled sadly at her friend.
Nara wrapped her arms around Adelina and pulled her in for a hug, as both girls cried.
