Chapter 10
---Thorn's POV---
It was extremely hard to stop myself from grabbing Blake and run, especially with the band of vampires guiding us to Bidziil's brother. My instincts were screaming to keep an eye on them and stay cautious, so I did.
Bidziil glanced back at me as I stayed one step behind, my eyes flitting from one vampire to the other, knowing what these creatures were capable off. I jumped when a hand landed on my shoulder, stunning me out of my daze as a pair of simmering gold eyes dropped to my level.
"Are you okay?" Bidziil asked, observing me closely as I nodded and looked back at the vampires. Several of them were staring straight back at me, some even had the guts to smirk slyly before covering their expressions to a mildly interested one when Bidziil turned on them.
Soft fur brushed under my palm as Blake pressed himself closer against me, growling under his breath. When one of the vampires scoffed under his breath, Blake bared his canines in warning, only gaining an eye-roll from the vampire in question.
"Dumb mutt." The insult was whispered and shouldn't be audible, but I caught on to it nonetheless. Without even thinking about it, I twisted my wrist behind my back and smiled in satisfaction when a small rock shivered on the forest floor before striking the insolent vamp against the back of his head.
"OW! What the-" He snarled, turning around with his fangs bared as I walked beside Blake, ignoring the bloodsucker as he fumed and grinded his teeth. One of his companions came a bit closer to me, stopping at a respectable distance.
"Sorry for him, he normally isn't this stupid." The blond male jested as he motioned towards his companion, who flipped him off and dashed away from us. I simply rolled my eyes, fixing them to a point in the distance.
"Not much of a talker, are you?" He stated after an uncomfortable silence. I glanced at him, nostrils flaring slightly as his eyes flicked to my own. I could sense his unease, a lot of people felt the same when they stared straight in the black depths of my eye with a hell blue iris floating in the center.
Looking away from him, I brushed my hand over a mangled tree, sighing when the wood simply turned to ash in my hands. "Being hunted and running for your life changes people, I guess." I stated, a hint of sarcasm oozing from my words.
He rubbed over his neck, seemingly flustered as Bidziil stared back and forth between us before coming beside me, nearly brushing against me with each step. What the hell is his problem?
When I eyed him questioningly, he just looked over my head and narrowed his eyes a bit. The vampire had fallen back in line when I spun around though, so I couldn't see what exactly happened between the two of them but when Bidziil glared at another vamp looking our way, I couldn't help but roll my own eyes.
If I didn't know any better, I'd start to think he's defending his territory.
Shaking my head at my absurd thoughts, I walked ahead and smiled as Blake rushed ahead, zipping in and out of the trees and snapping at low-hanging branches. When he flipped head over heels again, I snorted out loud and ignored the curious glances my way.
When Blake trotted my way, I chuckled and brushed the ashes of his fur before yanking my hands back when he playfully snapped at my fingers. I raised an eyebrow at him but he just answered with a loud "Woof!" and darted away from us, spinning around and nudging me excitedly.
"He must have caught the scent of the Lycans. He knows his 'kin' is close." Bidziil murmured curiously as I glanced up to his face. He was staring in the distance before glancing back at the vampires, where his eyes darkened, embers of gold sparkling in the middle.
I barely managed to glance at the backs of the retreating vampires before Bidziil's muscular arm draped around my hips, pulling me closer against his body. His thumb was brushing soothing circles against my side as I tried to figure out what caused his sudden switch in moods before I snorted and shook my head.
He's jealous. This big, muscular, temperamental tease that likes to be in control is jealous. I couldn't help my little amused chuckle as I had figured things out. Didn't he understand I wasn't interested in these vampires? The way he was glaring at the men surrounding us told me he wasn't going to stand aside and was already staking his claim on me.
The vampires seemed to get the obvious hint, since they backed off while several of the Fae were smiling rather smugly and sharing glances with each other. My muscles slowly relaxed from their constant tensing as I found I could trust these people...for now.
Well, maybe I needed to give them a second chance. The humans have driven Earth to the verge of imploding but then again, these creatures didn't help us at the time to fix it, so we were all to blame here.
I could still sense that others held a grudge against anything remotely human. The vampire that had been glaring at me and was now staring at Blake with utter disgust was one of them.
Smirking and nibbling on my lip, I didn't need to focus or motion with my hands this time as another rock became airborne, buzzing between the Fae and vampires only to crash in the annoying vampire's cheek.
He whirled around, red eyes blazing with anger and fangs extended as his eyes landed on me. Before he could even make a move in my direction, Bidziil was standing in front of me, raising the palm of his hand towards the sky as he cupped a handful of dancing flames.
With a yelp of fear, the vampire dashed away, abandoning the group of laughing Fae with a snarl on his face. "It seems I made an enemy." I muttered to myself before Bidziil chuckled, filling the forest with his deep and infectious laughter.
"I wonder why?" He questioned, sarcasm oozing of the words as he glanced at me with a stern expression. The twinkle in his eyes and the twitching of his lip betrayed the fact that he was beyond amused with my antics.
Rolling my own eyes slightly, I looked in front of us, blinking several times when I realized we weren't in the forest anymore. Confused and wary, I spun around to Bidziil who simply shrugged and pushed me ahead with an amused grin on his lips.
"I've teleported us ahead towards my brother, saving those poor vampires from your constant pestering. Blake is just behind us." He added when I opened my mouth. And indeed, as Bidziil finished his sentence, Blake pushed his fuzzy head underneath the palm of my hand, begging for a scratch behind his ears.
---Bidziil's POV---
I smiled gently as Thorn was getting distracted by Blake's antics, his expression quickly becoming unguarded as he smiled warmly at the wolfed-out teen. My eyes slid over his lean body, the telltale burning sensation of lust starting in my veins before I managed to focus again.
Thorn didn't need me jumping his bones when he survived so stressed and on edge, being back on Earth. As soon as I had teleported us in Ye'iitsoh 's temporarily house here on Earth, he had relaxed gradually. I didn't realize being back where he grew up was going to be so stressful, so I was going to speed things up a bit. And maybe tease Thorn while I'm at it.
My mind froze however when I could detect a large source of power, beside my brother. The pure strength of that person was staggering, almost crippling me as I recognized it as something older, much older than any of us.
A movement out of the corner of my eye grabbed my attention but before I could stop Thorn, he was already chasing after a playful Blake, running away from me. With a soft curse, I allowed the flames that formed my core to dissolve myself, materializing right in front of Thorn before he could run into the room.
His expression was almost comical as he tried to skid to a halt before he crashed into me, both of us toppling over. I guess my plan to stop Thorn wasn't so well thought out as I liked to believe. Then again, I wouldn't be in this position, with Thorn splayed out on top of me, his legs tangled with my own and his breath rushing over my face.
"Ow..." he groaned softly under his breath as he rubbed over his forehead, where he had crashed against my chest. "What the hell is wrong with you?" He asked sharply as he placed his hands firmly on my chest, pushing himself up on his knees and straddling me in the process.
That proved to be too much for my poor brain, leaving me staring at the boy in my hands. The way the muscles of his thighs clenched the slightest bit as he leaned back, how his weight shifted and pressed more firmly against my crotch...every little move he made was registered and adding to the scorching fires as I tried to keep a hold of myself.
If I was back at home, I didn't mind at all to investigate this further, allowing Thorn his own little fun too. The boy in question seemed to be slightly dazed as well, staring down at my chest underneath his hands before he looked up, the colored irises flashing brightly when he caught me staring straight back at him.
With a smug grin on his face, he slowly leaned forwards, causing my breath to catch in my throat as he opened those plump lips of his...right before he vaulted off of me and laughed to himself, eyes flashing with amusement and a wicked spark of lust.
I groaned loudly and rubbed harshly over my face, willing my member to calm down again after the teasing show Thorn just gave me. As I playfully glared up at the man, he simply flashed an innocent look on his face, tilting his head to the side before he walked away from me.
He's going to be the death of me...
With a frustrated sigh, I jumped on my feet and quickly walked after Thorn while plotting ways to get him back once we were in the safety of my home. Before I could contemplate all the different ways to make Thorn realize I wanted more out of this, out of us, he pushed the door open and froze in the entrance.
At first I thought it was because of my brother, Ye'iitsoh; being the eldest of three and several millennia old, he was impressive, a wall of muscles towering easily over everyone else. Even I had to look up at him, and I easily reached over 6 feet, my brother towered over me with his enormous 6 feet 7.
To top everything off, his bright white eyes could stare straight through your soul, plucking every bit of knowledge out of your very being without you even realizing he was there to begin with.
His previously long blonde hair was now a short cropped brown as he turned slightly, stopping his conversation with a large man dressed in black, turning his attention to us. When his black eyes with golden irises landed on us, I froze in shock before staring down at Thorn's frozen back, instantly making the connection of the man inches away from me and the source of raw power, whom stared towards us in shock.
"Thorn?" I asked as I saw his frame shiver slightly, stepping forwards when he took a step back. A relieved breath escaped his lips as I held his shoulders tightly, concern flooding through me as I stepped around him to look at his expression.
"Do you know this man?" I inquired softly when I saw the shock and feint recognition on his face. My brother frowned curiously, glancing from Thorn to the man beside him before his eyes gleamed with wonder and awe.
"Well, this wasn't something I'd ever thought possible." He said, rubbing a hand through his hair before looking down at Thorn. When he saw the apprehension in his eyes, he smiled apologetic and closed his eyes, frowning a second before opening them again, revealing a pair of sky blue ones.
"I apologize for my appearance; the supernaturals down here are quicker to listen to someone who intimidates them than to gentle, kind words." Turning back to the man standing beside him, he clapped him on the shoulder before pushing him closer.
"Bidziil, meet an old friend of mom. Death. And I believe he has a little secret to reveal." He chuckled, unaware of the glare Death threw his way before the man sighed and shook his shaven head, eyes searching back for Thorn.
His expression turned troubled as he started to speak, his voice lilting with an ancient accent, drawing us in to hang from every word he spoke. "I came here on Earth after I felt Thorn's awakening, searching for some answers, perhaps a clue to what has happened.
I didn't know of your existence until I felt your power surge." He turned towards Thorn, who pressed himself closer against my chest in search for support as he eyed the man warily.
"Who are you? And why were you in my dream?" I frowned up at the man, glaring as I felt my temper spark to life. What was he doing in MY man's dreams?
When he seemed to struggle for words, Ye'iitsoh 's lips curled up in a wry smile as he shook his head. "Please keep in mind that you haven't heard the full story of what caused you to be left on this planet Thorn. Even Ray here didn't know of your existence until a few weeks ago."
"Ray?"
Ye'iitsoh rolled his eyes as he turned at Death's question. "You're always such a ray of sunshine, so you're stuck with the nickname. Mom will love it." He smirked, gaining another glare from Death before he shook his head.
"I'd rather you call me something normal, like Jason." He muttered before glancing back at Thorn, sighing warily.
"At the start of everything, there were only a few things alive; Time, Space, , Karma and her triplet siblings the Fates, Chaos and Order." He started while my brother shooed us all towards the couches, were we sat down comfortable to listen to Jason's story.
"Chaos being herself created your kin, the Precursors, after she created Life and myself. Skipping a few sibling's spats, we end up with an entire universe filled with gods, humans and every creature imaginable."
Jason was threading back and forth by now, his golden eyes looming in the distance as he seemed to be lost in his memories. "I fell in love with an Angel of life, love and healing shortly after everything settled down. She wasn't allowed to be with me but..." He sighed, shaking his head. "I didn't know that at the time, so when she simply stopped coming to our secluded spot, I believed it was unrequited love."
Thorn moved in my arms, coming to the same conclusion I had when I saw Jason's black and gold eyes, a near mirror image of Thorn's own black and blue ones. "So...the reason why I got on Earth and have spent my life being hunted, fearing for my life...was because of-" He shook his head slightly and looked up, his eyes pained and distrustful.
Jason stood tall in the middle of the room, an equally pained expression on his face before he sighed and allowed the tension in the room to pull his shoulders down as he whispered, "Yes. Our love wasn't unrequited and to protect you, your mother has left you on Earth but that was before everything spiraled out of control."
My brother nodded in the silence that followed and added, "It seems that the rest of the Angels and some of the Gods don't like the fact that their love was strong enough to give them a child. According to the Angel law, they aren't allowed to love or have children. You, Thorn, are the only known exception, and they're going to lash out for that."
I was shocked to learn Thorn's heritage, as his father stood there awkwardly in the middle of the room while the man in my lap, his son, was shocked to silence. I could sense his head was spilling with questions that needed answering but for now, the concern in my chest was proving to be rather painful, as I understood what Ye'iitsoh implied.
Whoever was against Angels interbreeding and finding love, they were surely going to come after Thorn. And I was going to make sure no one could lay a finger on my man.
