Unecessary Fear
You know what's worse than being ignored by your friends? Being ignored by your lover who promised that they'd stay by your side no matter what.
That's what Changbin had been doing as of late. It's been a few days since Hyunjin had found out about his newly discovered abilities, and Changbin had been avoiding Hyunjin like the plague, and this saddened Hyunjin greatly.
Could he blame Changbin though? No, not really. If you had found out that your boyfriend/girlfriend had the power to do really really bad things, you would avoid them for a little while, just to be safe, right?
Hyunjin sat on the concrete ground, his back against a wall in the outdoor training area and his knees against his chest with his arms wrapped around them as he watched Leo and Ravi spar, neither of the Demon brothers holding back whatsoever.
Changbin stood near the door, debating whether or not to just go and sit next to Hyunjin. The younger seemed sad and distant, and hated that look on the younger. So, sucking in his wariness, he calmly walked over to Hyunjin and sat next to him.
"Hey" Changbin smiled, although he was quite wary of Hyunjin.
"Hi" Hyunjin didn't even look at him, his eyes trained on Leo and Ravi as they sparred.
Changbin was silent for a few moments, before he sighed heavily and leaned the side of his head on Hyunjin's shoulder.
"I'm sorry for being so distant these past few days" Changbin whispered softly.
"It's okay, I understand" Hyunjin's voice cracked ever so slightly, but Changbin noticed.
"No, no it's not okay" Changbin frowned, leaning his head away from Hyunjin's shoulder.
The younger still refused to look at him, and it was beginning to upset Changbin.
"Jinnie, please look at me" Changbin pleaded softly.
Hyunjin stared at the Demon brothers sparring a little while longer, before leaning his head back against the wall and turning his head to face Changbin. The older felt a stab of guilt in his heart when he saw that Hyunjin's eyes were tearing up a bit.
Did Changbin cause this?
"Oh Jinnie, I'm sor-" "you have nothing to be sorry for Binnie" Hyunjin smiled, but it seemed forced, "honestly, I don't blame you for wanting to stay far away from me. Even Chan hyung is still cautious. The only ones that aren't are Leo, Ravi, N, Hyuk, Felix and Jooheon. Even...even Seungmin hates me now" Hyunjin frowned, trying to hold back the tears as he bowed his head.
Changbin hooked his fingers underneath Hyunjin's chin, lifting the younger's head up.
"Hyunjin, I feel so guilty knowing that I made you this upset, and I'm sure Seungmin doesn't hate you. He's just being-" "cautious, I know" Hyunjin sighed as he turned his head away, lifting himself up off the ground.
Changbin lifted himself up too as Hyunjin walked away, the older following him into the main council room. There sat Chan and Felix with their kids on a large mat, the kids crawling around on said mat. Chan noticed Hyunjin's presence, the older frowning and shaking his head. A low growl then emitted from Felix, and he slapped Chan on the arm.
"Oh come on, don't tell me you still don't trust him" Felix scoffed.
"Not particularly, no" Chan snapped back.
Felix tried to contain his anger, but everyone in the room could feel it, and hear it when Felix growled low in his throat, the sound loud enough to kind of echo throughout the room. He could feel the protectiveness bubble in his gut, and he felt like the protective younger brother all over again. Not that it was a bad thing, but he figured he'd blame it on the fact he was a parent now, and that parental protectiveness had morphed into his past protectiveness over Minho for all those years.
"Your fear is completely unnecessary Chan" Felix's voice, although relatively calm, was an octave deeper, "you already know you can trust Hyunjin with your life, but all of a sudden, once you know who he is and what he could possibly do, you turn your back like a coward, like BamBam did to me" Felix internally winced then; he didn't want to have to bring up BamBam, but this situation was too similar to not compare them.
This time Chan growled. Changbin, thinking quickly, paced over to the children, distracting them from their arguing parents.
"Really? You fucking seriously compared my attitude to BamBam's!?" Chan exclaimed.
"Keep your voice down, idiot" Felix snapped, glancing over to the kids briefly, flashing a confused Hyun-Jae a loving smile before turning back to Chan, his expression stone cold once again.
Chan growled in warning, his eyes flashing red as he tried to assert his dominance over the younger, showing him who was the top in the relationship.
Keyword being tried.
"I'm not a fucking Omega wolf dumbass, I'm a hybrid. I could beat your ass from here to Hell, and you damn well know I could, but I won't, because I love you too much to do that. So" Felix reached over and smacked the Ghoul hard over the head, "that's gonna have to do. Now calm the fuck down and let Hyunjin come over for fuck sake" Felix huffed, his anger slowly disappearing.
"I don't understand why you don't just best his ass" Hyunjin scoffed as he walked over and say in the opposite side of Changbin, letting Woojin crawl his way, "he kinda deserves it"
"Oh boohoo, just because I don't trust you-ouch!" Felix had smacked Chan again.
"Okay, I take back what I said about not beating your ass. I am this fucking close to nearly killing you. You need to leave and cool down again, and dint even talk to me until you do" Felix growled.
Chan huffed, pushing himself up off the ground and storming away. Felix sighed in annoyance, massaging his forehead. He really hoped he didn't have to do that again...
