(13) WOUND OF A WEDDING

Devika's marriage rituals had been started. Queens of Dwarka were playing the role of sisters in law for Devika signifying her relationship as a sister with Kanha and Balram. Swastika had utter dislike for that yet she kept quiet. She decided to tolerate that for the shake of auspicious occasion of marriage.

Due to Swastika's protectiveness for Subhadra none had dared to pull her into any kind of leg pulling or pranking. Swastika had her last encounter regarding that issue with Vijaya which was obviously not unknown to anyone.

Both sisters were together all the time. Swastika was feeling restless throughout each ritual while Subhadra was all relax.

Swastika's pool of patience broken when Vasudev decided to do Kanyadan of Devika along with Devaki since king Govasena, Devika's father was adamant not to accept the marriage.

Swastika's heart wounded the worst after witnessing her father doing Kanyadan of some other girl considering her as his daughter. The father who had told her that he loved his daughters immensely was playing the role of someone else's father.

Swastika left the place, immediately. Subhadra who was aware of Swastika's state of mind followed her without any delay. She found Swastika sobbing vigorously, inhaling exhaling all the air available around her.

"Jiji, get calm down. Please, don't hurt yourself like this," Subhadra hugged Swastika who was facing severe ups and downs of emotions inside herself.

"It's not me. It's our family. I had been bearing everything which I didn't like to witness, but this one was too much," Swastika allowed herself to break down in Subhadra's arms.

"How could pitashri play role of someone's father? How could he?" Sliding herself from Subhadra's hug, Swastika screamed.

"Calm down, jiji. Listen to me! Whatever pitashri had done was necessary in that condition. Had he not done the ritual then the marriage would haven't completed," Subhadra's words shocked Swastika with that thought that how easily Subhadra had accepted the whole incident.

"There were other too. King of Kashi was there! King of Madra was there! They could have done the same," Swastika look at another direction to threw her glare.

"Waiting for someone else during the call of duty is selfishness, Jiji. When greater good challenges you for sacrifice then you will have to come forward without any delay. That's the real valour," this time Subhadra amused an agonized Swastika.

"Our pitashri has shown valour, and being his valiant daughters we shall respect that," Subhadra was about hug Swastika again, but Swastika took few steps backward, slowly, being submerged in her sorrow.

"I need some alone time," Swastika's voice was a void.

"Jiji, don't get me wrong. I had no intention of showing you wrong. Your hurt is right, but the heavy portion of righteousness is in support of the situation standing opposite to your hurt," Subhadra grabbed Swastika's hand to gesture her care and concern gathered in her heart at that time.

"I don't want anyone to say you wrong. I don't want anyone to point finger towards you," she went closer to Swastika which held herself on the verge of being collapsed.

"Although heavy portion of righteousness is in favour of the situation opposite to me yet I have a little portion of righteousness in my favour. Minority can't denied as majority gets derived out of joined portions of minority," collecting herself, Swastika put forward a gentle counter against Subhadra.

"Go and attend the rest of rituals. Only you can hold the respect of pitashri's valour which he has shown," Swastika indicated her wish for alone time.

"How can I go when you.......," Subhadra was sure that she wouldn't be allowed to serve her sister. Even, her tone was vibrating with uncertainty.

"It's my request, Subhi. Please!" Swastika left no option for Subhadra except obeying her.

With a worried heart, Subhadra walked away being ignorant about the distance inculcated in between her and her jiji.
