From the title, you can probably tell that this involves bullying. So if this is a touchy subject for you, you may not want to read this. I understand bullying, but I've never been physically bullied(just talking and cyberbullying). Anyway, here we go.

Your POV

You open your eyes at the sound of your alarm and sigh. School is a terrible place for you and you always dread getting up in the mornings. You slowly get out of bed and then get dressed in a pair of jeans and your favorite T-shirt. After putting on your favorite shoes, you walk to the bathroom to fix your hair and brush your teeth. Then, you grab your backpack from your room and go to the kitchen. You eat some cereal quickly and then walk out of your house, heading to school. On the way, you grab your cat puppet out of your backpack and place it on your non-dominant hand. 

You walk into the school and start walking to your first class of the day. Suddenly, you get pushed into the lockers and you fall down on the floor. You hear girls laughing. 

"Watch where you're going, freak," one of the bullies says. The other two girls with her snicker at the comment. You gulp and wait for them to walk off before you get yourself back up and then walk to your first class. After you sit down in your seat and the bell rings, a boy with long black hair and a green coat outfit walks in. He has two puppets on his hands: a brown/orange dog puppet on his right hand and a blue dog puppet on his left hand. You meet eyes with the boy and you smile. His face turns red and he smiles back slightly. 

"Introduce yourself to the class, please," the teacher tells him. He nods slowly and then says through the brown/orange puppet, 

"I'm Besu, that's Keru, and the boy is Ken Midori. He's happy to be here." When he says Keru, he points to the blue puppet. You smile at the boy, happy that he uses the puppets to talk. The teacher smiles at him and then says,

"Have a seat next to Y/n, please. Y/n, raise your hand." You slowly raise your hand without your puppet on it and Ken walks over to you and sits down in the seat next to you. He turns to you and says, with the blue puppet, 

"Nice to meet you." You giggle.

"Nice to meet you too, Ken," you reply, with your puppet. Ken's face lights up and he says, with Besu,

"We've never met someone else who talks with their puppets at school." You smile back at him and then say(through your puppet again),

"We haven't either." The teacher begins to talk and the two of you turn your attention to the front of the classroom. However, you feel eyes on you a few times during class. 

After class ends, you walk outside and head to your locker to get some things. On the way, someone sticks their foot out and trips you. You fall onto the ground and drop your books that you're holding. 

"You know, Y/n, you should really be more careful and watch where you're going," you hear the bully from before say. The other girls snicker as they all walk away. You sigh, moving over to grab your books. While doing so, you see someone else get on their knees to grab two of your books. They hand them to you and you take them. 

"Thank you, Ken," you say to him through your puppet. Ken smiles at you and then asks, through Besu,

"Why were you on the floor?" You hesitate, trying to think of a lie. 

"I tripped and fell down. I'm pretty clumsy," you reply back to him with your puppet. Ken stands up and then offers a hand to you. You gladly take his hand and let him pull you up. 

"We've gotta get to class now. See ya," Ken says through Keru. You wave at him and then walk to your own class. 

-Time Skip-

The final bell rings and everyone stands up to leave. You sigh with relief, glad that you got through the school day alright. As you go to place your backpack on, one of the bullies grabs your cat puppet right off of your hand and takes off out the door. You gasp, putting on your backpack before running after them. Frantically, you look around for them and then see them heading out of the school doors. You rush after them, wanting your puppet back. 

As soon as you walk out of the school doors, you see your puppet which seems to have been cut with scissors. It is in a muddy puddle to the side of the main doors. You fall to your knees next to the puddle and grab your puppet with shaking hands. Suddenly, you feel someone kick you in the side and you fall into the puddle yourself.

"Aww, you poor thing. Looks like your puppet got ruined," one of your bullies says sarcastically. You turn and look at them with an angry look in your eyes.

"Oh, look. Pathetic little Y/n is angry," another bully says, laughing, "I'm soooo scared." She rolls her eyes and laughs again. You open your mouth to say something, but someone else does before you can.

"Leave them alone," you hear a familiar voice say. You look behind the bullies and see Ken standing there, Keru extended. The girls laugh and one of them says,

"Oh look, it's another puppet freak." The other two laugh again. Ken pushes past the girls and helps you stand up. You stare at your puppet which is now ruined. Ken stands in between you and the girls with his arms out to his sides. 

"If you want to go after Y/n, you'll have to go through me first," he says through Keru again. One of your bullies scoffs and then says,

"Whatever. Let's get out of here." The other two girls follow her. 

Ken turns around and looks at you. He takes off one of his puppets and wipes the tears off of your cheeks.

"Why didn't you tell me that you were being bullied?" He asks you softly. You take a deep breath and reply, with your own voice.

"I was embarrassed. I felt like they were right, that I was a freak." Ken frowns and takes your hand in his. 

"Y/n, you're not a freak. You're an amazing person who's beautiful and has an amazing personality. Don't listen to what those girls say. You're more amazing than all three of them combined," he says, using his real voice. You feel tears streak down your face at his words.

"Thank you, Ken," you say to him between sobs, "that's the nicest thing that anyone's ever said to me." Ken smiles softly and wipes your tears away again.

"Why are you crying, Y/n?" He asks you, placing a kiss on your forehead. You smile at him and reply,

"I'm just so happy to have someone who is so nice to me." Ken smiles at you and says,

"Don't worry, Y/n. Those bullies won't bother you anymore. I'll protect you." You smile at Ken warmly and hug him. He wraps his arms around you and kisses you on the lips quickly before pulling away, his face bright red. You smile at him and let him hold you while you finish crying.

-Bonus-

You walk into school with your new cat puppet that Ken helped you make. As you are walking to class, the bullies surround you and trap you to the lockers. You look around nervously for help.

"Oh, look, they've got a new puppet," one of the bullies says. Another bully snickers and asks,

"Where'd you get that one? Your new boyfriend from the other day after school?" The girls all laugh and then you hear another voice.

"Yeah, Ken helped her make it," Ken says through Besu.

"If you guys are done saying hi to Y/n, then I suggest you go to your classes," Ken has Keru say. The girls frown and then walk off, leaving you alone with Ken. 

"Thanks, Ken," you tell him. He hugs you and says,

"Sorry that I couldn't be here earlier. I'll stay with you for the rest of the day." You smile at him and hug him warmly before the two of you go to class together.
