(A/N: uhyg78uijhyg a shitty mess of words that I have no idea how tf came together :D

Also, Sparking/Superking/Surge oneshot requests are open ig

I'm trying out writing Japanese honorifics in this story, so let's see how it goes I guess.

HC: Though Lane may not say it upfront, he really does care.

TW: mentions of blood and a teensy tiny bit of gore)

How had this happened?

Delta and Lane both carried their elder brother's limp body.

Why had this happened?

"Don't worry, Onii-chan! We'll get you a doctor soon! Just hang in there, please!" Delta yells, looking at Fubuki and Lane. Lane wore a panicked expression, which was rare since he never really loved to show emotions, as blood from Fubuki slowly dripped down, painting the snow red.

~A day earlier~

It was only bad luck for the Mizukami family as Fubuki, the eldest, had hurt his ankle, thus prohibiting him from selling fish to the village. Since they lived on a mountain, with an abundance of rivers and fish, the Mizukami family were widely known for their fresh fish at the market.

The Mizukami family wasn't poor, but wasn't rich as well, after the loss of the father, Kaito Mizukami, the family had to work extra hard to have a decent meal.

But nevertheless, they were happy.

"Fubuki, darling, why don't you take a rest?" Aiko questions, her crimson eyes shining in concern for her eldest. "We have enough food as it is."

Fubuki shook his head. "But Kaa-san, I want all of us to have a good meal, and sleep with our bellies full for New Years'." He stood up, patting little Kiyo, who was resting on his mother's shoulder, wincing as he put pressure on his foot, before stumbling out of their house, falling onto the snow.

"Nii-chan!" Delta yells, helping Fubuki up, letting him lean on him as sort of a body rest. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine Delta. I just need to get to the village to sell some fish." Fubuki assures.

"Then let us do it. You're obviously injured." Lane says, picking up Fubuki's basket.

"Lane, you don't need to." Fubuki protests.

"We insist Nii-chan!" Delta says, pulling his face into an OwO expression. "Please?"

Shit! I can't resist that! Fubuki thought, quickly turning his face away from Delta.

"Please Onii-san?" Lane begs.

Stop stop stop stop-

"Fine! Just be back by sundown, alright! I won't be able to sleep soundly if you weren't home by then." Fubuki orders, helping Delta and Lane with their baskets.

"Wait!" Haku and Anzu ran up to their older siblings. "We want to come!"

"Ssh. Don't wake Kiyo up." Delta says, raising a hand to his lips.

"But can we come?" Anzu questions, her light-yellow eyes shining hopefully.

"No. But we'll bring you treats next time we go down the mountain." Lane says, patting Anzu's head awkwardly.

"Delta, you promised we'd chop wood together!" Haku says, frowning.

"Once we come back, we can catch some fish together, but for now, you need to help Kaa-san, and Nii-chan, okay, Haku?" Delta says, patting his younger brother's head, smiling.

"Hmph. Fine." Haku frowns.

"I'm still not comfortable with you two taking on my chores," Fubuki says, frowning.

"Don't worry Nii-san, we'll come back soon!" Delta smiles.

"Stay safe boys," Aiko says.

"We will. Don't worry mom." Lane says, walking away. "We'll be off now."

"Don't worry, we'll be home as soon as possible!" Delta says, waving furiously, before descending the mountain with Lane.

"Bye!" Anzu and Haku say, waving furiously, as Fubuki and Aiko wave, hands-on both of their shoulders.

We don't have much. Delta thought, traveling down the mountain. But we have each other. Nothing's going to change.

As both brothers descended the mountain, Lane couldn't help the sense of dread filling his body, but passed it off as just the dark storm clouds forming, which told the Mizukami family that there would be no sun for their garden anytime soon.

Once they both got down to the bottom of the mountain, they met with Himeko Midori, a famous puppeteer in their town.

"Oh, Delta, Lane, it's wonderful to see you!" Himeko smiles, walking up to the two kids. "Selling fish again? My, your family is quite hardworking!"

Himeko Midori had a son, Ken, although he had left the town to pursue a job, that none of the inhabitants of the village knew, although sometimes, the man up on the mountain, Kurt Baratier, sometimes said that Ken ran off to be a Demon Slayer, whatever that was.

But, nevertheless, Delta and Lane sold the fish, no matter what rumors there were. Business was business.

"Oh! Fubuki's little brothers!" Stan exclaims, running up to the two. "Tell me, boys, do you have any fish today?"

"Uh, yeah." Delta nods.

"May I have some fish as well?" Dylan Summers questions.

"Oh, and me!" Opening the door of his house, Django steps into the cold winter air, walking to the two brothers.

"And me!"

"Save some for me!"

Is this what Fubuki has to do every day? Delta and Lane thought nervously, before continuing to sell the fish.

* * * *

It was nighttime when Delta and Lane could finally return up the mountain with empty baskets, trekking through the snow until they reached old man Kurt's house.

"Delta, Lane! I sure hope you're not going up the mountain right now. There's danger that could be lurking around." Kurt says, stepping out of his house, warm light pooling in a small circle around the door.

"Don't worry!" Lane yells. "I have a good instinct, we won't get lost."

"That's right!" Delta chimes in. "Lane had a gut feeling that I was in trouble once, and I was! I fell in the lake."

Kurt didn't seem to be convinced. "Good instinct's not enough to evade those creatures. Come in, you can return when it's morning."

Delta and Lane looked at each other, before shrugging. "I guess so."

Kurt's stoic face lifted only slightly, before beckoning them inside, pulling out 3 futons for them, and passing rice and fish.

"Grandad Kurt, what are the creatures you were telling us about?" Delta asks.

"Demons. Man-eating creatures that only appear during the night. But the Demon Slayers protect us from them." Kurt gruffly answers, taking their empty bowls away. "Now lights out."

"What if the demon came inside our house. Would it refrain from killing anyone?" Delta asks.

"No." And with that final word, the light was extinguished.

The next morning, Delta and Lane set out early, not wanting to waste a minute of time, this time running up the mountain.

What met them at their front door horrified them.

Crimson blood was splattered all over the floor and snow, as Fubuki laid face-down on the snow, not moving, covering little Kiyo's body.

"Nii-san!" Delta screams, running towards Fubuki. "Wha- What happened! Kiyo!"

Lane stumbles towards the broken door that was thrown near their wood stash, staring at the blood splattering all over it. There was so much blood. Was this his gut feeling?

His eyes trailed to the trail of blood that led to Fubuki and Kiyo's body, before walking to the threshold of their house, Delta's cries of despair fading into background noise.

"Oka-san..." Lane could barely feel his knees hitting the dark, blood-stained wood. "Anzu."

Aiko's body was slumped into the back of their house, eyes closed, while Anzu's little body was in an unnatural state, limbs, and back sticking out in weird ways.

Haku's cold, dead, lifeless eyes stared back at Lane, blood trickling out of his mouth, large gashes on his chest.

"Haku..." Lane held Haku's cold hand, breathing heavily. Was this the bad feeling he had the day before?

"Lane... Lane! Nii-chan! His body's still warm! Lane!" Delta yells.

"What?" Lane questions, turning to see Delta desperately lift up their older brother. "Delta-nii, that can't be!"

"We need to get Nii-chan to a doctor!" Delta yells.

Oh, how Lane wished the nightmare would end.

Trudging through the snow, down the mountain again, Delta and Lane supported their brother's body, not realizing that slowly, Fubuki was turning into a demon.

First was his eyes. Fubuki's crimson eyes slowly turned white, his nails grew, and he started struggling against his siblings, sending them off the mountainside.

Delta fell headfirst and was quickly knocked out. Lane was luckier. The snow had saved him, as well as Delta, who was unconscious.

Did we slip? Nii-san! Lane quickly stood up, walking to his older brother, who was standing deadly still, haori falling to the ground.

"Nii-san! I'll carry you and Delta to the doctor, come on!" Lane yells, but none of those words reached Fubuki's ears.

Blood. Eat. Human... Fubuki's now pink eyes turned to slits and lunged at Lane.

Lane quickly pulled out his hachet, Fubuki biting it and forcing the both of them down, but Fubuki starts growing in size, easily overpowering Lane.

"Nii-chan!" Lane yells, but his yells fell on deaf ears.

Fubuki, who was too busy trying to devour Lane, and Delta, who was unconscious, lying down next to Lane on the snow.

Lane slowly looks at the blood around Fubuki's clothes, tears forming at the back of his eyes.

"Nii-chan! Don't give in!" Lane yells.

I'm so sorry Fubuki. I'm so sorry! If we were a bit earlier...

I'm so sorry!

Fubuki was so confused. Who was this person, and why was he calling him Nii-chan. Who was he? Who was the other boy, laying on the snow?

"Fubuki." A soft hand caressed his face.

A woman with warm crimson eyes stares at him. H

"Fubuki. Please... protect Lane and Delta... they're your little brothers. You can't leave them. Please."

That's right... he's my... little brother... Lane... and Delta...

"Nii-chan!" A little girl yells, standing next to a young boy.

"Nii-chan. You have to protect humans! Don't be the demon in your stories!"

Demon? I'm a demon? I'm so hungry... I'm tired... Lane... Delta... they have glowing auras... I can feel them. I have a dull one.

"You really shouldn't listen to them." A tall man appears. "I am Theodore Glass. But you can call me Ashtem-sama. I am the demon king, and you are under my control."

"Don't listen to him Nii-chan!" A young boy yells as an older man stands behind him.

His voice wasn't the reason Fubuki stopped.

It was that he looked so... frail.

And he felt so strong.

"You have to protect the weaker, Fubuki, so they can become stronger, and take your place." His mother says.

Oka-san. Oto-san. Haku. Anzu. Kiyo.

I'll protect my brothers.

I'll protect humans.

No matter what.

I will never hurt them. No matter what!

"No. Come here. You can be so powerful." Theodore orders.

Fubuki didn't listen.

Lane stares, wide-eyed as tears started falling from Fubuki's pink eyes.

Someone's coming... He thought.

Heavy footsteps made the snow crunch, as a man with snow-white hair, and dead, crimson eyes held on the hilt of his sword.

Jumping up in the air, he started raising his sword.

Has the aqua-haired one died?

No... he's just unconscious.

But I still have to kill the demon.

Lane widens his eyes, moving Fubuki out of the way, making the man cut part of his long coat.

Snow starts up, as both Lane and Fubuki were forced against a tree, and Fubuki shrunk down to normal.

"Why are you protecting it?" He asks.

"That 'it' you're talking about is my Nii-chan!" Lane yells. "Who are you?"

"I am the Water Hashira, a Demon Slayer. Your older brother has turned into a demon, so I must slice his head off and kill him."

"No! Fubuki-nii hasn't, he'd never hurt humans!"

"Are you kidding me? Just then, you were about to be eaten, along with that boy."

"That boy is my other Nii-chan! And Fubuki-nii would never hurt his siblings! He's the best big brother ever! He's a good demon! So.. don't kill my Nii-chan!"

With a swift motion, the Water Hashira moves, and Fubuki was in his grasp, the demon boy growling.

"You call this, a good demon?" He asks, staring in disgust. "You can't even prove to everyone that he is a good demon, much less me!"

And in one quick motion, he stabbed Fubuki.

"DON'T HURT MY NII-CHAN!" Lane yells, grabbing a rock and hurtling it at the Hashira.

He deflected it with his sword, frowning as Lane ran behind the trees, and charges at him, yelling.

A straightforward attack driven solely by emotion. He thought.

"You fool!" He yells, slamming the back of his sword into Lane, knocking him unconscious.

Wait. Where's the hatchet?

He looks up, and lo and behold, there's the hatchet, hurtling itself towards him. He leans to the side, and the hatchet hits the tree.

He was faking?

No... He knew he couldn't overpower me, so once he went behind those trees, he threw the hatchet up in the air, so that when he possibly wakes up, he can get away with his siblings.

Fubuki jumps up, kicking the Water Hashira and lunging at both Delta and Lane.

Shit- He's going to devour them!

Instead, Fubuki stood in front of them protectively, lunging forward and attempting to intimidate him.

Long ago, someone once said the same thing, only to be devoured by a demon. When a demon is starving, it will kill and devour even its own parents or siblings. Because they're nutrient-rich. I've seen it happen more times than I can count. This boy has been wounded, and he's expending energy to heal those injuries. He must have drained vast amounts of her strength as he transformed into a demon. That means he's severely starved at this moment, without a doubt. He must've wanted to feast on a human right away, even if it's his own little brothers... Yet, he protected them instead, and he even intimidated me... I wonder... These siblings might be... different from others.

This long train of thought was in the Hashira's head, while in one swift motion, he hit Fubuki's neck, rendering him unconscious.

Delta was the first to wake up, then Lane.

"Lane? Why... why does Nii-chan have a bamboo muzzle?" Delta questions.

Lane quickly grabs the hem of Fubuki's haori, before staring at the crimson-eyed swordsman.

"Go to the base of Mt. Bull. There, you will meet a man called Trad Vasquez. Tell him Shu Kurenai sent you." The newly dubbed Shu Kurenai says. "Your brother seems to be okay right now, but you must never let him be exposed to the sunlight. I expect great things from you."

And on that note, he disappears into the air.
