Correspondence (Rantaro)

OH SWEET JESUS JOSEPH AND MARY! IS THIS AN UPDATE?!

Enjoy guys!!

Thank you all for being so damn understanding and patient with me and my lack of an updating schedule, I love each and every one of you... I need a name for you guys so that I can refer to you all collectively. Hmmm... I'll think of something.

~Xx Avanni Cinders

P.S I just went off of the AUS education system here.

10 Years Old

"Okay class, I want everyone to settle down now please." Your teacher's voice rang out across the classroom, and along with everyone else, you raced to find your seat. You all but fell into your chair, eager not to be the last one sitting for once. "And a round of applause for Y/n, for not being half-way across the room while everyone else was waiting."

Your classmates clapped dutifully, and your desk-mate offered you a high-five for a job well done. It was only two months into the school year, and you'd already earned yourself somewhat of a reputation in your sixth-grade class. Once the applause had died down, your teacher cleared his throat and you dragged your attention to where he was standing at the front of the room.

"We're going to be doing something a little bit different today," he began, getting a stack of paper from his desk, along with what looked like envelopes. "This is your last year of primary school, and it can be stressful. Now, I've mentioned before about how my brother is also a teacher over in Japan, so this year each of you is going to get a pen pal from his class to write to."

There was a mixed reaction to his statement, some of them were groans while others were sounds of enthusiasm. As for yourself? You didn't quite know how to feel. The idea of writing to someone overseas was a little bit daunting, not to mention you didn't know how your pen pal would feel about it. What if they didn't want to do this? It would be unbelievably embarrassing if everyone in your class got a letter back except for yourself. Or what if they thought you were a weirdo and showed your letter to their friends?

Before you could psych yourself out even further, a piece of lined paper was put down in front of you, along with an envelope. You looked up to see your teacher standing over you with a small smile on his face. Nervously, you swallowed. He was more than aware of the issues you sometimes had with anxiety, having been told by your parents at the beginning of the year and he had a good sense for noticing when you were having issues.

"Your partner's a boy called Rantaro, that's R-A-N-T-A-R-O, okay?" He informed you helpfully. You nodded dutifully and quickly scrawled the name down at the top of the paper in lead pencil so you could erase it later. "It's just a first letter. Introduce yourself, tell them your age, favourite colour, stuff like that. Ask them some questions about them too, basic stuff."

"Sweet, thanks." You sighed. Now that you more or less knew what to write to your pen pal, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from your shoulders. With some of your worries now gone, you pulled the paper closer to yourself and after a few minutes spent thinking about what to say, you put your pencil to paper and began to write.

To Rantaro,

Hi, my name's Y/n L/n, and it looks like I'm your pen pal.

That wasn't too bad of a start, right? Admittedly you wanted to cringe a little after reading it, but it was your first letter to someone living in an entirely different country, so it was good enough you supposed.

I wasn't all that sure about what I should write, but my teacher told me to just do some basic stuff to introduce myself, so here it goes I guess. I'm ten years old, my favourite colour is f/c and my main hobby is Beyblade. Do you Blade? I'm not too bad, but that's just my opinion.

You mentally caught yourself before you could go into a full-blown rant. Once you started about Beyblade, it was hard for you to stop. For all you knew this guy didn't even know what Blading was, and you didn't want to risk boring him to death with something he might not even be interested in.

Anyway, you don't have to write me back if you don't want to, but it'd be pretty cool to have someone to keep in touch with I guess. I should probably ask you some questions now, huh? So if you do want to do this you have something to talk about in your letter. I'm guessing that you're about my age, but what are some things that you like to do? What are your favourite colours, and what do you do in your free time? I'm starting to run out of paper now, so I'll wrap this up.

From Y/n.

You read over it once, and then two times, checking it for anything like spelling mistakes. In the end, you weren't too sure, but you'd done your best so you shrugged and folded up the letter and slid it into the envelope you'd been given. You wrote his name on the front and got up to put it on your teacher's desk. He looked at you as you approached and leaned back in his chair.

"How'd it go kid?"

"Good, I think." You responded honestly with a small shrug. "It wasn't as bad as I thought."

"Good on you then," he grinned. "Okay, go and sit back down. We've still got another ten minutes or so of writing, then we'll start our first lesson."

Two weeks later

You stared down at your letter with your heart racing in your chest. To say that you were nervous would've been an understatement. You were actually kind of surprised that you'd gotten one back. When your teacher had put the envelope down in front of you with your name scrawled across the front, you hadn't been too sure of what to do.

Technically you should have opened it by now, but you were scared of what you'd find on the inside. That was silly, you knew it was silly to be afraid of what someone else in an entirely different country would say to you, but you couldn't help it. You felt someone nudge you, and you glanced sideways to see your desk-mate looking at you questioningly, his own letter already opened.

"Are you going to read it or stare at it?"

"Yeah yeah, I'm reading it." You huffed, quickly tearing open the top of it and unfolding the letter inside. You were relieved when you noticed that most of the page had been filled with writing that was cramped together, but still legible.

Y/n,

Yeah I want to be pen pals, it's gonna be cool to have a friend living in another country. Also, if you're running out of paper, just flip the page over or get a new one :) I'm only nine at the moment, but I turn ten in April. My favourite colour is orange, and yeah, I'm a Blader too! Look me up in the WBBA rankings, my last name is Kiyama. My Bey is a stamina type called Roktavor, what about you? What's your Bey called, it's cool that we have one thing in common at least. Anyway, write me back, okay? Talk to you soon!

-Honcho

P.S Feel free to call me Honcho, it's what everyone else does.

You put your letter down and smiled. Honcho... you decided that you liked the nickname, not to mention that your new friend seemed pretty awesome too. It was then you realised that you were actually excited to write to your new pen pal. You were about to tear a piece of paper from your notebook so that you could get started on a response when you noticed that the lesson was starting. Pushing aside your disappointment, you resolved to write back as soon as you got home that afternoon, and focused on your classwork instead.

[Quick AN, these letters take place over the course of several months. It isn't a day by day or even a week by week thing. Just go with it :P]
_______________________________________________

Honcho,

It doesn't count if you came up with that nickname yourself, you know? What's up with that anyway? Oh, and I looked you up like you said, and I wanted to ask about the lollipop too XD My Bey is an attack type called Fire Pegasus, but it has different modes too. Check it out! My cousin is a Bey Mechanic, she offered to build me one but I couldn't choose what type I wanted, so we decided to go with all four of them. Yeah, I've been told it's overkill, you wouldn't be the first to say so.

From Y/n.

_______________________________________________

Y/n,

It's because I'm the Head Honcho! And it's because they're the best lollipops around! Here, try one and then try to tell me otherwise. I found a file attached to your WBBA profile, it had a ton of your battle videos in it? Dude, you guys are so cool! Your Bey is amazing, if we ever get the chance we need to battle sometime. That one where you obliterated that guy with the green and black hair was wicked, he didn't stand a chance whatsoever. Have you ever thought about joining a team? You would be brilliant.

-Honcho

_______________________________________________

Honcho,

Okay, I'll admit it, those lollipops are bloody brilliant. I got my mum to get me a bunch when she went shopping this week and I'm already half-way through, I can't stop eating them. If I get cavities, I'm sending you the dentist's bill. Oh my God, I totally forgot about that battle, but it was so much fun, and hell yeah I'll take you on one day! I've tried joining a team before, my school doesn't have one so I had to go to the local club. It wasn't too bad at first but it was kind of... boring after a while. There wasn't much of a challenge for me (that sounds so mean), so I quit after a while. I want to try out for an international team when I'm older though. Look out for me, because I'm going straight to the top!

From Y/n

_______________________________________________

Y/n

You haven't been eating the normal ones, have you?? They have so much sugar in them that it's crazy! You can get sugar free ones, and believe me they taste so much better (trust me on this one). Don't worry about it, it doesn't sound that mean XD. Seriously though, that's understandable. It sucks that your school doesn't have a team, but mine doesn't either, I'm hoping that the high school I'm going to next year will though. Let me know which one of the internationals you try out for, who knows? Maybe I'll try out too.

-Honcho

P.S It was my birthday a few weeks ago, I forgot to tell you. That makes us the same age now, doesn't it?

_______________________________________________

Honcho,

I will never doubt you again, ever. They are SO much better than the other ones, and they're cheaper. My parents don't have a problem with me eating them now, so thank you for that. I've got my fingers crossed for you by the way, so hopefully whatever school you go to has a team for you to join. I hope mine will too *insert thoughtful face here* But speaking of high school... I know that this whole letter thing was just for year six, but would you want to keep it up after we're finished with primary? We don't have to! But I thought it might be cool. I don't know about you but you're like one of my best friends now (ew, feelings). Happy birthday for the other week too by the way! And yeah, that makes us both the same age. Looks like you're catching up to me for now.

From Y/n

Y/n

I'm not gonna lie, I thought that was a given? You're my best friend too, so we kind of have to keep talking at this point :p And you're welcome for the lollipops, I am no longer accepting your dental bills because of this, let it be known. My dad mentioned something about getting me a phone when I go into high school next year, maybe we could start texting too! How awesome would that be???????

-Honcho

_______________________________________________

Honcho,

Okay, no that's brilliant. I'm glad. I'm not always the best with communication, just a heads up for you *sweat drops* Let me know as soon as you get a phone and I'll give you my number. Sending letters is actually pretty cool, but we can talk so much more by texting each other. I checked out my high school and they have a Bey Team, I'm so excited to try out! I'm nervous too though. I have to meet up with the captain on the holiday break to try out so we can get straight into training when school start next year. I've got training to do, so wish me luck!

From Y/n

Y/n

I can't believe you sent me those lollipops! What was that for? Not that I'm complaining, but I'm definitely set for the next few months. Good luck with your try out, I know that you'll smash it though. See if you can record it and add it to that WBBA file on your profile so I can watch it. You finish school soon, don't you? By the time you get this it won't be too long until your tryouts. Just remember, you've got this! Hope this helps by the way.

-Honcho

_______________________________________________

Honcho

Consider it a late birthday present :) What's the necklace about though? You didn't have to send me anything! I'll admit, I love it and I haven't taken it off since. I'm all set for my try out now, and I'll make sure to record it for you. Hey, I know things are a bit different overseas, but do you finish primary school soon? I graduate in a few months, I'm so excited! Nervous, but excited.

From Y/n

Y/n

I just realised that I forgot to tell you. My family went on a vacation recently, I thought I'd get you a souvenir, the feather made me think of you and your Pegasus. I have one too, there were two in the packet. I graduate soon too, but I think you'll finish before me. I can't wait to see your tryout!

-Honcho

_______________________________________________

Honcho,

I DID IT! I just uploaded the video to the file, I don't know if you'll have seen it by the time you get this, BUT I DID IT! I'M ON THE TEAM! I'm so excited, we're called the Panthers, I've got a jersey and everything! (I'm using so many exclamation marks, it isn't funny). My captain was so nice, but it was a really tough battle, I think that the necklace was the only reason I won. I haven't had a competition like that in ages, it was so awesome! I'll upload all of our battle videos, promise me you'll watch them, yeah? Have you graduated yet? I did last week, I'm officially done with primary school! We did it!

Y/n (AN OFFICIAL MEMBER OF THE PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

_______________________________________________

Y/n

I TOLD YOU YOU COULD DO IT! Use all the exclamation marks you want, you've earned it! I'm officially taking at least 40% of the credit for your win, thanks to the necklace. I saw the battle video, YOU WERE SO AWESOME! I've never seen a battle that intense before. You guys have jerseys, that's so cool. How much do they cost? Oh, and I just graduated today. I'm literally writing this in the suit I have to wear to my formal tonight (it's so uncomfortable).

-Honcho

_______________________________________________

Honcho

You in a suit? Please tell me you've got photos, I wish I could've seen it :( Hope you enjoyed your formal, did you take anyone? ;) You can have your 40%, it still feels like I'm dreaming. And it was a crazy intense battle, my arms were aching from my launch for days after. The video was edited and cut down a lot, we tied so many times and there were tons of burst finishes. I must have launched Pegasus at least one hundred times, my mum almost took me to the doctor to make sure I didn't tear anything.

Congratulations on graduating,
Y/n

P.S I wasn't sure what size you wear, so I took a guess.

_______________________________________________

Y/n

Seriously? I would have paid you for a jersey! It's awesome though, the size is perfect and the L/n on the back is awesome XD The formal was awesome, a bit boring though. I've put a few photos in with the letter, that's me in a suit. (Please don't laugh too much). It would have been so much better if you were there though, we could've had so much fun! We pulled a prank on our principal, we got the deputy to hire mariachi band and they followed around Principal Zhao all night, it was brilliant XD That battle sounds crazy, I'm proud of you.

-Honcho

Honcho

It's a gift! There weren't any blank ones though, they aren't on sale until we actually go to school next month. I just ordered another one of mine in a larger size for you, but I'm glad you like it. Ahahaha, my friend and I went to the formal together. We did a theme and everything. Dude, the suit is awesome, you look so uncomfortable though. Whoever came up with that prank is brilliant, truly. I win though, my friends and I are literal kings and queens of pranking. We planned in advanced and got a ton of screw drivers and unscrewed just about everything non-essential. Let's just say, our principal was extremely confused when he found buckets of screws sitting on his desk one morning.

You blinked at the latest letter, hardly able to process the words on the page. After school had ended, the two of you had switched to mailing one another directly instead of sending them back and forth between your teachers. The pen pal program had been brilliant, despite your initial misgivings. Rantaro, or Honcho as he insisted you call him, had probably ended up being your best friend and you looked forward to every single letter that you'd received from him.

Now? Now you could text him. You'd spoken about it before of course, but it was actually happening. There would be no more waiting for letters to come in the mail, you'd just have to wait for his name to come up on your phone for a response. Still, it was surreal.

Eventually, once you'd gotten over your shock, you picked up your phone and added the precious sequence of digits into your contacts. You'd barely finished pressing 'save' and you were already typing out the first words of your conversation with your best friend.

6:11PM

To: Honcho🍭

You: Hey

You: It's Y/n btw

6:21PM

Honcho🍭: Oh my God!

Honcho🍭: Y/n?!

Honcho🍭: This is crazy!

6:23PM

You: Ikr?!

You: We can talk whenever we want now!

Honcho🍭: It's awesome!

Before you could respond, you were startled by your phone starting to ring in your hands. You yelped and just about fell out of your bed, but managed to catch yourself just in time. For a moment you stared, before snapping out of it and pressing the device to your ear.

Everything was silent. You simply sat there on the bed with your legs crossed, heart beating a tattoo against your chest. Then:

"Hello?"

"Honcho?" You whispered after a moment.

"Y/n?"

"Oh my God!" You exclaimed, clamping a hand over your mouth to muffle the laughter that suddenly found itself on your lips. "I can't believe this is happening!"

"Me either," he admitted quietly. "You sound totally different to how I expected."

"Is that good or bad?"

"Neither."

"I'm sorry," you laughed again, surprised to feel a tear rolling down your cheek. You wanted to smack yourself upside the head for getting so emotional, but there was something about finally hearing the person you'd been writing to for so long now that had you tearing up. "This is so insane."

"Aw, don't cry. I might start."

"Shut up," you huffed, hurriedly wiping your eyes with the back of your hand to get rid of the traitorous tears. "So anyway, have you started school yet?"

"Geez, bossy much?" He jabbed, although you could hear the amusement in his voice. "And yeah, today was my first day."

"Is there a Bey Club there?" You wondered, remembering how eager he'd been to find out.

"Unfortunately there is not."

"Seriously? Dude that sucks," you winced sympathetically. "I had my fingers crossed and everything."

"Same," he sighed. "They've got a stadium in the gym though, and its open during breaks and free classes, so I can train there."

"Awesome, have you tried it out yet?"

"You could say that."

"Honcho, what happened?" You demanded, immediately picking up on the tone he used and knowing that something must have happened.

"Well, there's this guy in my year, Valt. He kind of messed up his launch and we crashed into the supply cupboard and the sports equipment went everywhere, right as the principal was walking in."

"You're kidding me?" You frowned, wondering how on earth that had actually happened. You could admit that you were prone to destroying things with your own clumsiness, but you had to take your hat off to this Valt kid.

"I wish I was. He made us both stay back and clean everything up."

"Oof, that's rough buddy."

"Believe me, I know. Anyway, what about you? How's training going?"

Since that first phone conversation, it wasn't uncommon for you to spend at least three quarters of your monthly data usage on texting and calling Rantaro. The two of you texted each other all throughout the day, until it was almost like he was right there with you, and you'd speak most afternoons. If there had been any lingering doubt, it had been erased a long time ago. Rantaro Kiyama was your best friend, and no one could tell you otherwise.

If you were being completely honest with yourself though, you'd started to have... other feelings for the blond male. Feelings that went beyond friendship. Had you told him about these feelings of yours? Of course not. There was no way in hell you'd risk messing up the relationship the two of you had, he meant too much to you to do that. Then there was the fact that he lived overseas, and that you'd never even met him face to face.

That hadn't stopped you from becoming best friends, but a romantic relationship was an entirely different concept.

However, the whole 'never having met each other face to face' thing was about to change.

True to the words of your ten year old self, you had tried out for your country's international team, the very same day you became old enough. Seven years later and a seventeen year old you was getting ready to go up and battle.

"Okay guys, BC Sol has just lost Free De La Hoya, this victory is as good as ours." Your captain stated confidently, and you felt yourself grin at his words. He was right, and all of you knew it. You might not have been quite as prolific as the aforementioned BC Sol, but they didn't stand a chance against you.

"Any volunteers to go first?"

"Yo," you raised your hand.

"Okay then, Y/n, you'll be our first. Let's get out there and see who we're up against."

The doors opened and the five of your walked out into the screaming stadium. The seats were crammed with cheering people. Most of them were there to represent the home team, but you could just as easily hear chants being shouted to cheer you on. You smiled and waved at your fans, and watched as the BC Sol representatives walked out to meet you. Immediately, your eyes fell on the blond man with a lollipop stick in his mouth, identical to the one between your own lips.

Rantaro's expression when he finally noticed you was nothing short of priceless. His eyes went wide, the blood drained from his face and his mouth fell open. You had known about him joining BC Sol since the day he passed try outs, and he knew all about you being a member of your own international team, however he hadn't known the exact name of your team.

For weeks now, you had been bursting at the seams to finally meet face to face. You'd been waiting for Rantaro to tell you when he found out that the two of you would be going up against one another, but he never had. The look on his face confirmed it for you, he hadn't even looked at your team's line up.

"I wonder what was up with blondie?" Your captain snickered as you walked over to your bench. You nudged his shoulder with your own and grinned.

"He's my best mate," you told the rest of your teammates. "My guess is he didn't check the line up, he had no idea he was going to see me today."

"Nice," your captain laughed, shaking his head. "Right, go out there and kick arse."

"You got it," you nodded, placing your phone on the terminal so it could scan your data.

You waited for Hanami to announce the Bladers battling and walked up as your name was called. As expected, you were met at the stadium by a still shell-shocked looking blond.

"You didn't look at the line up, did you?" You teased him, clicking Pegasus into place without bothering to change modes. "You know, I honestly didn't think you'd be up first, Kiyama."

"I figured that since we're friends, I'd have the best chance of beating you." He shrugged, finally getting some colour back into his face, seemingly recovering at least partially from his shock.

{B+I}"Hold up! Do these two know each other?!" Hanami shouted over the speakers upon hearing your exchange.

"I've been looking forward to this since I was ten years old," you admitted, getting ready to launch by planting one foot on the stadium and tightening the grip you had on your launcher. "You ready to lose?"

"I'm ready to win," he corrected you.

"In your dreams," you told him confidently.

"First battle!" The referee announced before Rantaro could respond, effectively cutting your conversation short.

"Three!"

All banter aside, you needed to take this seriously.

"Two!"

You weren't stupid, best friend or not, Rantaro was a good Blader and he wouldn't be taking it easy on you.

"One!"

This battle needed your all, and you were prepared to give it everything you had.

"Let it, rip!"

You kicked off the stadium and spun in the air, doing a complete three sixty. The moment you were facing the stadium again, you wrenched the ripcord from your launcher and sent Pegasus into the stadium. Your Bey began to circle while Roktavor had already taken the centre.

Technically, you were the one with the advantage. Rantaro hadn't known you were apart of the line up, so he hadn't had the chance to do his research on you. You on the other hand? You had known about this battle for weeks, and you hadn't wasted a second in finding out everything you could about Rantaro's Bey. All he had to go off, was whatever he remembered from all the times the two of you geeked out about your Beys and Blading in general.

"Go! Origin launch!" You shouted.

Pegasus became engulfed in a ball of flames and began circling the stadium. Faster and faster it spun, until it had all but created a miniature tornado of fire. You could feel the heat emanating from stadium, and with that, you threw your head back and laughed loudly.

"How do you like it Honcho? I came up with this especially for you!"

"This is insane," he breathed, and you grinned at him so widely that the Cheshire Cat was probably off taking notes somewhere.

"Now, Fire Pegasus! Burst his Bey!"

Pegasus swooped in and the two Beys were hidden by the writhing flames. Unfortunately, you hadn't been able to cultivate the fire tornado-sequence move too much. You knew that if it had gotten too out of control, someone could get seriously hurt, and if it was used in a battle, you'd rather not trigger a sprinkler system or something. The flames were contained to the stadium, and you were proud of the control that both you and Pegasus had over this new launch of yours.

There was the unmistakable sound of a Bey bursting, and slowly but surely, the flames began to die down. When they had completely disappeared, Roktavor was lying in three seperate pieces where it had been spinning just moments before. Pegasus leapt back into your awaiting palm, and not for the first time, you were grateful for the gloves you wore to protect your hands from your still warm Bey.

"That's Pegasus with a Burst finish and two points go to Y/N L/N!" The referee declared.

"Hell yeah!" You shouted, thrusting your Bey in the air, soaking up the cheers of encouragement from the spectators around you.

"You got lucky is all," Rantaro decided with a careless shrug. "Things are going to go a lot differently this time!"

"We'll just see about that!" You shot back, holding out your Bey so he could see your Pegasus gleaming. "Prepare to be crushed!"

_______________________________________________

The battle had gone off without a hitch, and your team's flawless season was still safe for the time being. Even though you knew that there was a post-match party going on back at the hotel, you had an entirely different mission in mind. After telling your teammates to go ahead and you'd find them later on at the hotel you had stayed behind at the stadium, lingering in search of a particular individual.

Just as you began to worry that maybe he'd already left and you'd managed to miss him, your eyes fell on a certain someone wearing a black jacket across his shoulders and a head of blond hair that practically shone under the intense lighting. He had friends with him, but all awkwardness aside, you didn't care. You'd been waiting for this moment for years now.

"HONCHO!" You shouted across the room, delighting in the way that he jumped at the sound of his name. You watched as he spun around, his searching for you in the crowd of people.

"Y/N!"

You all but sprinted to one another. That slow motion thing that they do in movies? Entirely unrealistic you decided. You couldn't get to him fast enough. Rantaro got to the half-way point and kept on running, and when you were maybe four or five paces away, you leapt at him.

He caught you easily and didn't so much as stumble. Your legs wrapped around his waist and his arms curled around you tightly.

"You're here, oh my God, you're actually here!" He mumbled from where he'd buried his head into the crook of your neck. His breath against your skin caused a shiver to brush along your spine, but thankfully he didn't seem to notice.

"Oh God, they've even got a lollipop too." You heard someone say, and you didn't even bother to glare in their general direction. You were all to absorbed with the person wrapped all but wrapped around you.

"Hey Honcho, you gonna introduce us?"

You felt his annoyed groan rumble through his chest, and you couldn't help your snicker. He huffed and turned back around to face his team, putting you down in the process. You were about to protest, but fell silent when he threw an arm around your shoulders and kept you close to him.

"This is Y/n," he informed them.

"I mean it's kind of obvious. You did kind of shout my name."

"Silence you," he demanded, somehow managing to hit you upside the head.

"Y/n, these guys are my friends Valt, Cuza and Silas."

"I've heard a lot about you guys," you told them, grinning. The one called Silas didn't seem to care either way, but Valt and Cuza seemed excited enough to meet you.

"That battle was so amazing!" Valt gushed. "We should totally battle sometime."

"We lost, remember?" Silas reminded him gruffly, but Valt didn't seem to be fazed in the slightest.

"It was still awesome!"

"Hang on a sec," Cuza frowned looking between the two of you curiously. "Are you the Y/n that-"

"OH-KAY THEN!" Rantaro shouted, and you winced at his volume due to your close proximity.

"We'll let the two of you catch up," Valt grinned, his eyes very nearly sparkling. He turned and went to rejoin his teammates, Cuza seemed to want to say more, but was stopped as Silas grabbed him by the back of the shirt and began to drag him away.

"Well that was interesting," you remarked once the two of you were alone again.

"They grow on you after a while," Rantaro sighed.

"So does bacteria," you countered, arching a brow. He shook his head at you, but you could see the grin on his lips.

"How long are you in town for?" He asked, and you had to try and hide the smile that threatened to appear all of a sudden.

"Well that depends."

"Depends on what?" He frowned.

"On whether or not your manager approves of my transfer to BC Sol," you shrugged as if it were no big deal.

Rantaro's stared at you blankly, and you fancied that you could see him processing the information. It was almost as if a sign was flashing above his head.

'Processing... processing... please wait while information loads... transfer complete!'

"You're here to stay?"

"Yep," you replied, finally allowing yourself to smile. "I'm here to stay."
