Chapter 24

Two days later, Party day, Evening

The whole Agnihotri Mansion was decorated elegantly for the party. There was richness, class and glamour all around. Women dressed in beautiful red party gowns and sarees, and men in classy black business suits, there was style and fashion all around.

The whole party hall was arranged lavishly. A little stage at one corner, dance floor with music and DJ, tables and couches for relaxing and having fun, buffet area with seven star food and also drinks and mini cards and gaming area. A separate kids party was arranged for the little ones in the backside garden.

The whole Agnihotri - Kirloskar - Randhawa - Gupta family was already present in the party. The kids were already send to their own party area with nannies.

Few minutes later Khushi and Payal came down elegantly dressed in their party gowns. As soon as they entered, everyone's attention were diverted to them. Men were admiring them while women couldn't help but be jealous. The Agnihotri - Kirloskar - Randhawa - Gupta family smiled seeing their beautiful daughters who had attracted everyone's attention without doing anything.

Samar also came down dressed in his black Armani suit looking no less. This time the women were admiring him while the men were jealous. But the brother-sisters trio were nonchalant about all the open attention they were getting.

They were only bothered about certain Raizada brothers-sister trio for whom they were eagerly waiting for, though the reasons were different. If Samar was waiting to meet his lady love, then Khushi and Payal had their own set of plan of actions to trouble their husbands. So gear up Mr Raizadas, Mrs Raizadas are all set to strike.

Finally ending their wait, the Raizada family entered the party hall once again catching everyone's attention. The Agnihotri - Kirloskar - Randhawa - Gupta family went to receive them. Everyone was dressed elegantly. Anjali was looking gorgeous in her red suit that Samar was openly gawking at him.

On the other hand, Akash was mesmerized seeing Payal in the figure hugging gown and was openly drooling over her. But Khushi frowned not seeing Arnav among them. She wanted to ask about him but didn't, as her whole family was present and she didn't wanted to create any suspicion.

But putting her out of her misery, Samar asked her unasked question.
Samar (looking around): What happened? Where's Arnav? Everyone is here. He only is missing. Where's he? Didn't he come with you guys?

Akash: No Jiju. Bhai has come. He is just outside, in the garden, attending a call. Will come in in few minutes.

Samar: Oh. It's OK. You guys come inside. Let him take his time.

With that all entered inside. As soon as everyone went to their respective places, Khushi slowly slipped out of there without anyone's notice. Getting outside, she soon reached the small patio in the front garden. Even from ten feet distance, Khushi could clearly see the manly figure clad in black figure fitting Armani suit, standing in the corner of the patio and looking at the sky.

His back was facing her but still she knew that he had sensed her presence. His posture hadn't changed but Khushi could easily say that he could feel her like she could always feel him even from distance. Though there might be a mile distance between them but still for strange reasons their hearts always beat together.

Why? Even she didn't had an answer. She had asked this question to herself n number of times but never got an answer.

She silently came and stood beside him in the patio looking at the sky. A serene silence existed between them. Both didn't said anything. Minutes passed with both of them silently watching the sky or rather the stars. Something that had a deeper meaning in their lives. Something that bound them emotionally. Something that witnessed a lot of beautiful and emotional moments between them. The stars.

The same stars in which Khushi taught Arnav to look for his dead mother. The same stars which made Arnav to open up his heartfelt pain and anguish of years to Khushi and made her see that innocent child still living inside him who was craving for love and affection. The same stars which witnessed their union as man and woman. The same stars which bound them emotionally into the beautiful relation of love.

Minutes passed by with both silently watching the stars twinkling brightly at them. Specially those three stars, which Khushi once told Arnav that it was their parents and Arnav, though never a person to believe in such fantasy, had believed in Khushi and had started considering them his mother and her parents.

Arnav (looking at the three stars): So those stars were also a lie, right. They aren't your... our parents right. It was just a lie.

Khushi, for the first time in the last ten minutes since she reached the patio, looked at Arnav's face. He didn't turn but continued to look at the stars. But she saw a strange longingness in his eyes while looking at the stars. She turned and once again looked at the stars.

Khushi (sighing): Yes, they weren't my parents. But they are not a lie.

Now it was Arnav's turn to look at her face but she continued to look at the stars.

Khushi: Those stars were true. But it's just that they weren't my parents. They were someone else.

Arnav continued to look at her face. Khushi briefly looked at him once and again looked at the stars once again.

Khushi: They were the two most important people in my life. Someone who I never met. Never had a chance to know or spend time with. But still held some very important place in my life. One who gave me life and another one who gave me my identity.

Khushi was saying everything as if in a trans. Arnav was keenly hearing and observing her. There were lot of emotions on her face which he couldn't read but there was a strange serenity and peace in her voice. There was some emotions in her words that he couldn't just understand.

Khushi looked at him and saw him attentively hearing her.
Khushi (looking at the sky): It was my Dadu.

Arnav (frowning and confused): Huh
(In thoughts) Isn't her Dadu alive?

Khushi: It was my Dadu who told me that after death, people become stars.

Arnav: Oh.

Khushi (still looking at the stars and with a soft smile): I was six years old then. I always used to see Dadu sitting in the terrace at night and looking at the sky and sometimes talking to them. I never understood what he was doing. I was... am really close to my Dadu. One day, I asked him what he was doing.

He smiled and told me that he was talking to Dadi. I was horrified. I thought he was talking to ghosts. (She chuckled)

Arnav (confused): Why???

Khushi (shaking her head): My Dadi died one year before my birth. Then he told me that after death, everyone becomes stars. Then he pointed me to the brightest star in the middle and told me that she is my Dadi. From then, I also believed that it's my Dadi and I started watching stars with my Dadu.

I never met my Dadi. But have always heard about her. She was a very soft spoken, kind, loving and caring lady. It was her dream that my parents have a baby girl. She wanted a granddaughter. My parents had difficulty in conceiving. After almost 4-5years after their marriage, I was born. My Dadi was the one who supported them the most during that difficult phase.

She was always optimistic that my parents will have a child. You see, my parents and Amma-Babuji (Shashi-Garima) got married around same time but Di (Payal) is 3 years elder than me. Everyone had lost hope, but my Dadi she always believed that my parents will have kids.

But she never had a chance to see me. She died in an accident. After three months of her death, my mother conceived and when I was born everyone somewhere believed that I was a part of her. She was the one who selected my name - Khushi. She believed that I will be the happiness of her family. She was the one who gave me my identity even before I was born, my name, Khushi Agnihotri.

She was very special. Always kind and generous. My mother runs an NGO named after her, Anjali Sadan, which helps poor and needy. Also which provides shelter for orphans, old age people and women who are abandoned by the society and their families. My Dadi always helped everyone who was in need and always wanted to do something for the betterment of society and help women who are victims of various social evils.

So to fulfill her dream, Mom started this NGO after her death. It is so strange that My Dadi and your sister has same name but they are poles apart. My Dadi always believed women to be strong and courageous but your Di is just opposite.

Arnav: So you actually believe that people become stars after death.

Khushi (still looking at the stars with a soft smile): Yes. I don't know if it's true or not. But I believe in it.

Arnav: Hm. (Looking at the stars) Who is the other star?

Khushi (briefly glancing at Arnav and then again looking at the stars): It's another special person of my life. Have you ever wondered why we had triplets?

Arnav looked at Khushi confused. But seeing her looking at the stars with a look of longingness and peace, he didn't realize when that thought entered his mind and no sooner he had voiced it as a question.

Arnav: You had a twin?

Khushi looked at Arnav who was looking at her confused and curious. She again looked at the stars.

Khushi: He was five minutes elder than me. My other half. My brother. The one with whom I shared everything since the moment we began breathing inside my mother's womb. But unfortunately, I never got a chance to share or give anything to him after we took birth in this world. (Sigh)

My mother had complications in her pregnancy. During her eighth month, Doctor suggested an emergency C-Section as there were lots of complications. We were born prematurely. Both of us were underweight and very weak. We were kept in incubator.

For two weeks, both of us were there together in the incubator. After two weeks, our conditions deteriorated. I had a weak heart. But his condition was worse, he had difficulty in breathing and low brain activity. After two three days, his condition became worse and he left us, brain dead. But his heart was working.

On the other hand, my condition also became serious as my heart condition worsened. It was very difficult phase for my parents. They lost one of their children and the other was fighting for her life. Then the doctors suggested my parents to let go of my brother. He was already brain dead and there was no chance he could survive without ventilator.

The doctors advised my parents for an emergency heart transplantation for me and my brother. My parents were in the worst situation. They had to let go of their one child for the survival of other. Otherwise eventually they will lose both. I don't know how my parents mustered courage to take that decision but they did. They let go of their son for my survival. My brother's heart was transplanted to me.

Due to that incident my family was always protective of me. Specially my parents. They lost one to save the another - me. So they were always extra careful about me. A single tear drop from my eyes, they will start to panic. My whole family is really possessive and protective of me since childhood as they lost one of their children to save me. My brother.

My brother. Though I never even knew him or ever got a single chance to do anything for him, he fulfilled the biggest responsibility of a brother-sister relation. He gave his life to save mine. If today, I am alive then it is because of my brother who gave me my life or rather gave his own life to me and saved me.

The heart that's beating inside me belongs to him. He was always there inside me in the form of his heart. Whenever I felt lonely my heartbeat told me that there was an angel who always protected me.

My brother is nothing less than an angel in my life. It was the life that he gave me by loosing his own, which was the reason of my existence. When Dadu first told me about him. I was shocked. But then I knew it was always there. That emptiness. He was my other half and to not miss him was impossible. I always felt his absence. It was normal in twins. When one dies, the other always feel the void. But till then, that day, I never knew what that missing part was.

But once I realized it. I couldn't help but love and respect that unseen and unknown brother of mine who had actually fulfilled the meaning of rakhi though I never got a chance to even celebrate one with him. He became my guardian angel.

Those two were those stars. My Dadi and my brother. My two guardian angels. One who gave me my identity and other who gave me my life. Two people who held so much importance to me. Whenever I felt extremely happy, sad, I share it with them. It was...is my belief that my guardian angels will guide me and protect me. My Dadi and my brother, Arav.

Arnav (bewildered): Arav????

Khushi (with an unreadable expression): Yeah, Arav. That was the name that my parents selected for him. Arav. Arav Agnihotri. I wanted to name my first child Arav as I felt that one day he will come back to me as my child.

Arnav (shocked): Khushi...

Arnav was looking at Khushi who seemed to be in a trans while saying all this. He couldn't understand what was going on inside her. He was confused. He felt immense respect and gratitude for this unknown brother of his wife who had given him (Arnav) his life. His love. His Khushi.

But the name ARAV. That send a shiver down his spine. Khushi wanted to name her first child Arav. But she had named their first Arsh. Why? Is it because she believed that her brother came back to her in the form of Arav. Is that why she accepted Arav as her first child. Arnav was confused. He couldn't understand his wife at all.

From past few weeks since she had come back, she had been a mystery to him. He just couldn't understand what's going inside her. Her feelings. She herself had become a mystery to him. What was she doing? What did she want? The more he tried to find answers to these questions, the more things got complicated. What was he supposed to do?

Khushi looked at Arnav who was looking at her shocked.

Khushi (frowning): What?

Arnav: Arav...

Khushi: Arav what?

Arnav: You wanted to name your first child Arav.

Khushi: Yeah, I wanted to name my child's name Arav. In fact my first child's name is Arav only. Arav is my first son and his name is Arav. So what??

Arnav (shaking his head and looking away): Nothing.

He was stuck. His wife is good at words and there was no way he could talk her into spilling the beans as he was very poor at words.

Khushi was looking at him with unreadable expression. Arnav turned and looked at Khushi. It was then he noticed her entire attire. She was looking beautiful, gorgeous. No even those words doesn't justify her beauty tonight. She was so out of the world that he felt words can't even describe it. In no way she looked like the mother of four kids.

She was wearing his favorite red colour gown which was hugging her hour glass figure perfectly showing all her curves. Her hair was left open in loose curls. Her neck and ears were adorned with diamond set. A diamond bracelet was there in her one hand and the other had a silver watch studded with rubies and diamonds. There was minimal makeup on her face, only kajal and lipgloss. She was looking eternal.

Looking at her, he felt certain part of his body hardening. God this woman doesn't even have to do anything to make him aroused. Just one look at her and he is a gone case. It had been four years since she fell in his arms for the first time in Sheesh Mahal. Till date, he couldn't or rather didn't learn to control the desires inside him for this woman.

Khushi was keenly observing Arnav's every movement. She could easily understand what is going on inside her mind. She smiled. Arnav was looking at her mesmerized. He looked at her from top to bottom and finally his eyes rested on her pink lips.

Unknowingly his legs started moving forward. With his each step, Khushi took one step back. This continued till her back hit the pillar. Arnav came in front of still looking at her intensely. He came near her and was about to cup her face when Khushi caught hold of the front of his blazer and within a second, turned them around effectively pinning to the wall and trapping him in between her petite arms.

Arnav was shocked for a moment at the turn of events. But then looking at his wife's intense gaze, he gulped. She looked ready to gobble him. There was lot of emotions in her eyes. Love, desire, passion, and a few others which he couldn't understand. But seeing her intense gaze, he felt a shiver run down his spine.

He couldn't understand what was happening with him. Everytime it was him who showed his dominant aura on her in their relationship. Always pulling, pushing and pinning her. But today being pinned to the wall by her, he felt different. He felt being under her mercy. He felt being captivated by her. Is it how she always felt when he showed his dominance. He didn't know.

But he felt his heartbeat rising with her close proximity. True it always raised in her presence. But today he felt as if it would burst out of his chest with the speed at which it was beating. He wondered whether she could hear it. Whether she felt the same.

Looking at her frozen silver blue eyes, he felt a shiver run down his spine. Her eyes looked like a deep ocean just like his name. He felt like he was drowning in that deep ocean. He gulped seeing the intensity in them.

The smile on her pink plump lips and her intense gaze were creating havoc inside him. He felt like tasting that juicy full lips once again just like three years back. He always felt like her lips are inviting him to taste them. He never used to get enough of them. He used to loose his senses around her.

He was getting lost in her eyes when he felt her cupping his cheeks with her both hands. His heart started thudding with more intensity as if it would burst out of his chest any moment. He wondered if she could hear it.

Cupping his cheeks, Khushi brought his face towards her. Mesmerized by her honey dripping lips, he also leaned down ready to taste her lips once again.
