Chapter 6: Resolve - 19 to 18 BBY

Dedicated to IsabelleR93

Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano, and Padawan Kyra Kryze stood among the grieving crowd as the hearse carrying the body of Senator Padmé Amidala – the former Queen of Naboo and secret wife of Anakin Skywalker – moved past. The trio wore dark shrouds out of respect for their late friend, but also to blend with the shadows cast by the royal palace that loomed nearby. From beneath her hood, Kyra spotted Senator Bail Organa – who was standing next to Senator Mon Mothma – watching her, Ahsoka, and Rex. Tano must have also noticed his gaze, for when Bail looked away, she quickly ushered Rex and Kyra towards the palace.

As they made their way through a darkened colonnade, a voice called out, "You shouldn't have come here."

The trio simultaneously tensed but did not turn around, recognizing the voice as that of the Alderaanian senator.

"There's nothing any of you could have done," Bail continued. "For either of them. Why risk it?"

When Ahsoka, Kyra, and Rex finally turned to face Organa, their grief-stricken expressions answered his question. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the sound of comms chatter behind him.

"A patrol is coming. You must leave. Where is your ship?" Bail asked as he looked over his shoulder to make sure the clones had not spotted them.

When Rex answered that their Y-wing was near the river, Bail escorted them into a corridor drenched with shadows as two Coruscant Guard shock troopers entered the colonnade. Bail led the fugitives to a rotunda overlooking the river at the bottom of the canyon and handed a comlink to each of them.

"These aren't connected to any Republic networks," Organa explained. "If you need anything, contact me with these. The three of you will also be able to contact each other, should I be unavailable."

Ahsoka looked at the comlink in her hand before shaking her head and handing the device back to the senator, stating that she was tired of fighting. When the clone troopers called out to Bail, he turned towards them before glancing over his shoulder to make sure the trio had not been seen. The three Republic fugitives had already vanished and were sitting on top of the rotunda. One trooper asked for Bail's identification while the other informed him that the balcony was strictly off-limits.

"Forgive me. It's easy to get lost with all that has happened." Bail replied, and Kyra knew he was speaking to Rex, Ahsoka, and herself. "Still, we have a duty. Don't we? An obligation to uphold when we're able."

There was a long pause before one of the clone troopers informed Organa that they would have to escort him back to the procession.

When the senator spoke once more, he was still addressing the fugitives, "I understand. And if you should ever need anything, please contact me."

Ahsoka looked down at the comlink in her hand, having changed her mind and taken the device before jumping onto the roof. Once the troopers had left with Bail, Ahsoka leapt off the rotunda and landed quietly on the bank of the river. Kyra then used the Force to lower Rex to the canyon's floor before jumping after him. As expected, they found R7-A7 – whose parts had been salvaged from the wreck of the Tribunal – waiting in the Y-wing, having already prepped the bomber for takeoff. Bo-Katan Kryze's Kom'rk-class fighter – the Gauntlet – also waited near the Republic bomber, and when Bo-Katan spotted the trio, she took her helmet off and tucked it in the crook of her arm.

"You ready to go, kid?" she asked, ruffling Kyra's hair.

"Almost," Kyra replied before heading off to gather the few belongings she had saved from her days in the Order.

Once Kyra had finished packing, she turned to Rex and Ahsoka, who were waiting near the back of the bomber.

When she ran over to Ahsoka and hugged her fiercely, Tano said, "Take care, Padawan. The Force will be with you, always."

Kyra nodded before turning to Rex, who picked her up and held her close as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I'm gonna miss you, ya little firecracker," he said quietly, and Kyra could tell he was having a hard time keeping his emotions in check.

"I'm going to miss you, too, big brother," Kyra replied, giving him a quick kiss before he set her down. "What are you guys going to do?"

"I've been in contact with a couple of clones who removed their inhibitor chips," Rex answered. "I'm gonna stay with them until we can figure out how to liberate more of our brothers."

Kyra nodded before turning to Ahsoka, who explained, "I'm going to find some remote destination and lay low for a while. Remember, the Empire thinks we're dead, and I'd like to keep it that way unless a situation forces us to reveal ourselves.

Kyra sighed and nodded, running a hand through her hair as she replied, "Stay in touch. Both of you. If you ever need me, you know how to find me. My appearance and name will be different, but I know you won't have any trouble recognizing me for who I truly am. May the Force be with you."

She quickly hugged Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano again before taking a deep breath and walking over to Bo-Katan. As her aunt boarded the starfighter, Kyra looked back at her brother and sister one last time before following Bo-Katan into the cockpit of the Gauntlet. Once they had made the jump to lightspeed, Bo-Katan hopped out of the pilot's seat and went into the hangar bay, appearing a few moments later with a metal container in her hands. She set the container in front of Kyra – who sat in the gunner's seat – and opened it.

"You're gonna need a disguise," Bo-Katan explained. "We'll make further alterations to your appearance once we get to Sundari, but for now, just don't take the helmet off."

Kyra nodded, then changed out of her Jedi robes and into an all-gray ensemble that consisted of a high-collared tunic, pants, and work boots. When Kyra asked what she should do with her lightsaber, Bo-Katan thought for a moment, then held out her hand.

When Kyra instinctively backed away from Bo-Katan, her aunt said, "It's okay. I'm just gonna hang it on my belt. If I play the grieving aunt, wouldn't having your saber support the theory that you died when the Tribunal crashed?"

Kyra hesitated, then nodded and reluctantly handed her lightsaber to Bo-Katan, who clipped it to her belt. Bo-Katan hopped into the pilot's seat as the Gauntlet exited hyperspace and Kyra attached the dark blue cuirass, along with a pair of matching shoulder pauldrons to her tunic. She stared at the helmet for several moments before twirling her thick braid into a bun and slipping the helmet over her head. They landed on one of the docking platforms outside Sundari shortly after and entered Sundari. The Mandalorians had wasted no time in repairing the crown jewel of their homeworld, and Kyra looked around as if seeing Sundari for the first time, even though she had left the capital city less than a week ago.

When the duo arrived at the royal palace, Bo-Katan placed a hand on Kyra's shoulder and led her into the Grand Salon, the padawan's breath catching in her throat as a tidal wave of memories washed over her. The intensity of the Clone Wars had increased after her mother's death, which – in its own way – had helped Kyra focus on her duties as a Jedi. Now, with the war over, Kyra had no choice but to face – and accept – all that had happened in the past several months. Once they had walked past the late Duchess's quarters and entered Bo-Katan's, Kyra removed her borrowed helmet and took several deep breaths to steady herself.

Bo-Katan quickly arranged the tools that she would need to alter Kyra's appearance and got to work. She dyed her niece's eyebrows and eyelashes black before doing the same to Kyra's full head of bright red hair.

"Let me know when your hair starts to grow back, 'cause I'll have to dye it again," Bo-Katan said as she cut Kyra's long hair and shaved the nape of her neck, leaving the hair on top of her head slightly longer.

Kyra ran a hand through her hair, brushing her bangs out of her face as Bo-Katan proceeded to hide her freckles with makeup.

"I want to leave my eyes the way they are," Kyra stated. "They're the one thing I share with both of my parents."

"What do you want to do with your Jedi robes?" Bo-Katan asked.

"Burn them," Kyra replied quietly, resignation lacing her voice. "The Jedi Order no longer exists. And until the time is right, until light rises up to meet the darkness, I am no longer a padawan. I'm a Mandalorian."

                                                                   ...

Over the next year, another wave of violence erupted on Mandalore. The Imperial forces that had once been part of the Republic, the same troops that had once helped the Mandalorians, began to turn against them. The occupation of Mandalore had begun. But the Nite Owls – led by Bo-Katan, the Regent of Mandalore, and Kyra, who was using the alias Cerra Killian – were not going to let their planet fall to Imperial jurisdiction without a fight. Unfortunately, Clan Kryze was betrayed by Clan Saxon – who had pledged their allegiance to the Empire – and the rebellion ended with Bo-Katan being forced to abdicate her throne.

Clan Saxon – along with the other clans who had sided with the Empire – wore a mix of traditional Mandalorian armor and Imperial armor, similar to the uniforms that the new stormtroopers wore. After the Clone Wars had ended, the clone troopers were slowly replaced with loyal soldiers from across the galaxy. The Empire did not explain why the clones were being forced into an early retirement, but Kyra figured Rex – as well as the other clones who had removed their inhibitor chips – were behind it somehow. Kyra was so deep in thought that she had missed half of the parade, and when someone tapped her on the shoulder, she did not immediately respond.

When the same person grabbed Kyra's arm and spun her around, she found herself face-to-face with an Imperial clone trooper that had yet to be replaced.

She stiffened, preparing for a fight as she asked, "Is there something I can do for you, sir?"

"Cerra Killian, Governor Saxon requests your presence in the Grand Salon," the clone trooper explained curtly.

When Bo-Katan tried to intervene, Kyra stopped her and willingly went with the Imperial trooper, fearing that one of her old comrades had somehow recognized her for who she was. Along with the change in hair color and length, Kyra was given her first set of Mandalorian armor, which she had quickly customized. For the most part, she kept her armor similar to Bo-Katan's, expressing her loyalty to her aunt and the Nite Owls through the paint scheme. Her helmet, shoulder pads, shoulder pauldrons, cuirass, and vambraces were the same shade of blue as Bo-Katan's, the only difference being that Kyra's helmet lacked the white markings that her aunt's featured.

Her right shoulder pauldron displayed the symbol of the Nite Owls, a characteristic shared by all members of Clan Kryze. Her knee, shin, and thigh guards were light green to represent a love of peace, and the boot guards that protected the tops of her shoes were red to honor her parents. Her rangefinder, antenna, pants, boots, short-sleeved shirt, and finger gloves were black to represent justice. Two electrically charged batons were attached to her utility belt and several daggers were hidden throughout her ensemble. Her reluctance to use blasters, she supposed, was one last way of holding onto her father's memory; he had often called blasters uncivilized, only using them if absolutely necessary.

Kyra knew that her father was still alive – the Force had told her as much – but in order to maintain the false pretenses she was living under, she had to act as though he had not survived the Jedi Purge. When the stormtrooper pushed her into a dark corridor and took off his helmet, her train of thought was interrupted once more.

"Rex?" Kyra asked incredulously as the retired clone captain smirked.

"Hey, Commander," Rex quickly replied as he put his helmet back on. "We'll have to catch up later, Senator Organa needs to speak with you, and we don't have much time."

Rex ushered Kyra to a nearby docking bay, where the Tantive IV waited, and she took her helmet off as he led her into the senator's quarters onboard the ship. The captain then went off, returning a moment later with Bail Organa in tow. The senator sat behind his desk and invited Kyra to sit as well, but she politely declined and remained standing beside the captain.

"Forgive me for the deception," Bail began. "The new order is unforgiving, and I have found it difficult to look for people without compromising their safety."

"Especially when you're looking for a ghost," Rex added, and Kyra smacked his shoulder.

"How did you even know where to look?" she asked. "I thought I covered my tracks rather well."

"You did," Bail assured her. "Since the birth of the Empire, I have started to keep an eye out for acts of kindness in this new galaxy of ours. When there's a concentration of them, I try to find out who is behind them, and then we have a talk."

"What do you talk about?" Kyra questioned.

"The Rebellion, Padawan Kryze," Bail answered. "I look for people who will fight against the Emperor, the Empire, and everything it stands for. You can't fight the Empire alone, Kyra. And as I'm sure you have learned, neither can a well-trained, heavily armed clan of Mandalorians. But you don't have to fight alone. We can fight together."

When Kyra hesitated, Rex placed a hand on her shoulder and said, "You can't do any good here without reinforcements, Kyra. But if we're able to find more people like you, like the senator, we'll be able to liberate civilizations who want nothing to do with the Empire. I've found a whole squadron of troopers who've removed their inhibitor chips. And some of the clones that obeyed Order Sixty-Six are bailing because they know, deep in their bones, that the Empire is bad news. That's why they're being replaced with stormtroopers. If we gather enough forces and fight on our terms, eventually, we'll have a real chance at beating the Empire."

From the look in Rex's eyes, Kyra could tell that he truly believed they had a chance. After a moment, she turned back to Senator Organa and told him that she was in.

A small smile appeared on Bail's face as he nodded, "Very good. The only orders I have for you at the moment are to lay low. Only leave Mandalore if absolutely necessary. If I need you, I will come find you."

The Empire Day parade had ended by the time Kyra and Bail had finished their meeting, so she made her way to the Nite Owls' headquarters on the outskirts of Sundari. Bo-Katan dismissed the other Mandalorians when she saw Kyra, who waited until the others had dispersed before filling her aunt in on her meeting with Senator Organa.

"There's a good chance I'll have to leave on a moment's notice." Kyra finished.

Bo-Katan nodded before pushing a small container towards Kyra. When Kyra opened the box, she arched an eyebrow and looked up at Bo-Katan.

"Those are twin WESTAR-Thirty-Five blasters," her aunt stated. "The weapon most commonly used by Mandalorians."

Kyra snorted and rolled her eyes, "I know what they are. But I've told you I don't use blasters."

"You aren't a true Mandalorian until you have at least one blaster at your side," Bo-Katan replied. "Who's to say you can't use both the blasters and batons? Weapons are a part of our religion, remember?"

"These were my first set of blasters, passed down to me by my father," Bo-Katan added when Kyra did not take the pistols. "They've been in our family for several generations."

Kyra shook her head and finally reached for the blasters, her aunt smirking as she placed a utility belt on the table, this one equipped with the two holsters that her own belt was currently missing. Kyra cinched the new belt around her waist and transferred her batons before picking up the twin pistols, which had been painted blue and white to match the Nite Owls' color scheme, surprised by how natural they felt in her hands.

When Kyra looked up, Bo-Katan had a small smile on her face, and she said, "Let's go test 'em out."

Outside the mess hall – after making sure no one else was around – Bo-Katan gathered a handful of small rocks and rapidly threw them into the air, one after the other. Kyra quickly drew her blasters and fired, hitting some of her targets after a couple of attempts and knocking others out of the sky on the first try.

Her aunt whistled appreciatively, "Pretty good for someone who's never held a blaster."

"I'd say it runs in the family, but my mother was a pacifist and my aunt, well..." Kyra paused, letting the good-natured insult hang in the air.

Her statement had the intended effect, and Bo-Katan laughed, "Oh, so there is some fire in her spirit. I wouldn't have expected that from a Jedi."

Suddenly, Bo-Katan's smile disappeared and her gaze fixed on something behind Kyra, whose smile faltered as she turned to see what her aunt was staring at. Her laughter died altogether when she spotted the stormtrooper, who had been eavesdropping on their conversation. The Imperial ran off when he realized he had been spotted, and Kyra knew that he was gathering reinforcements to help him bring her into custody. When Kyra turned back towards her aunt, she knew that Bo-Katan was thinking the same thing.

Bo-Katan ushered Kyra into the mess hall and said, "You need to leave, now. Contact the senator and inform him of your situation, then lie low until he can come for you."

"We can fight them," Kyra insisted, unwilling to leave the only home she had left. "If we gather enough Mandalorians, we—"

"I can't risk leading my people to their deaths," Bo-Katan replied, cutting Kyra off. "If we fight now, when we're unprepared, the Imperials will win and there will be no one left to fight them in the future. If we die and the Nite Owls are defeated, all of Mandalore will be forced to live under the oppression of the Empire. I'm sorry, Kyra, but my people come first."

Kyra's jaw clenched and she looked down at the floor, blinking back tears as she said, "I thought I was one of your people."

"Kyra, that's not what I—" Bo-Katan tried to explain, but Kyra cut her off.

"The next time we see each other, I will have the forces necessary to liberate Mandalore," Kyra stated as she attached a jetpack to her cuirass. "Then, once we have defeated the Imperials and the traitorous Mandalorians who helped them, I will claim my birthright as heir to the throne of Mandalore."

When Bo-Katan's features hardened and her left eyelid twitched, Kyra knew she had struck a nerve, that her aunt had not considered the possibility of her niece taking the throne from her.

"I hope you haven't forgotten that your claim to the throne cannot be based solely on bloodline," Bo-Katan replied coldly.

"I haven't forgotten," Kyra assured her aunt in an equally icy tone. "Have you?"

Bo-Katan's left eyelid twitched again as she said, "In order to rule Mandalore, you must win the Darksaber, an ancient weapon that has been missing for some time, in combat."

"Wasn't the very saber you speak of originally wielded by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian to be inducted into the Jedi Order?" Kyra asked. "Maybe it's a sign that I'm the first Mandalorian Jedi there's been in thousands of years."

"If I remember correctly, the Jedi Order no longer exists," Bo-Katan retorted, her tone venomous.

"As of now, it doesn't," Kyra countered evenly as she took her lightsaber from Bo-Katan and attached it to her belt. "But the Jedi Order will rise again. And when it does, I will help restore it to its former glory. Goodbye, Bo-Katan Kryze, and thank you for teaching me the way of my people. I am reluctant to leave while we still have scores to settle, but the spark of rebellion has lit a fire in my heart, one that I cannot ignore."

Before Bo-Katan Kryze could reply, Kyra put her helmet back on, placed a closed fist over her heart, bowed her head, and left without another word.

                                                                      ...

Kyra spent the next several months hiding on the nearby moon of Concordia, where she took advantage of the strange fact that no one ever seemed to remove their helmets. Eventually, Kyra found herself back aboard Senator Organa's ship, waiting outside his office while he conversed with another member of the Rebellion. After breaking through Concordia's atmosphere, the Tantive IV had made its way to a moon near Coruscant and delivered a shipment of containers. When Bail allowed Kyra to remain onboard the ship, she knew he must have sensed her unease at being so close to the Galactic Empire's seat of power.

Now, as the ship took off, Kyra rocked on her heels and waited for the senator to finish his meeting. Several minutes passed before the door to Bail's office slid open and he invited her inside.

"Padawan Kryze, it is good to see you again," Bail said as he led her through the antechamber. "Forgive me for rushing the pleasantries, but there's a debate I need you to settle."

Kyra opened her mouth to reply but stopped when she found Ahsoka Tano waiting in the office. Kyra's jaw dropped, but when Ahsoka did not react in a similar manner, Kryze remembered that her face was hidden. She quickly removed her helmet and held Ahsoka's gaze, smiling when Tano's eyes widened.

Ahsoka quickly hugged Kyra before turning to Bail and picking up where she and the senator had left off, "I can't command people anymore. I can't order them to their deaths. I've done that too many times."

"Then we can find something else for you to do," Bail replied. "I have a lot of job openings, as you can probably imagine."

Kyra remained silent as she listened to their conversation, trying to decide when she should step in. She racked her brain, knowing that Bail needed Ahsoka to help the Rebellion while also trying to think of how Tano could help without having to fight.

"There are children all over the galaxy that would've been Jedi," she suddenly said, startling both herself and the others. "Now they're just in danger."

After a moment, Ahsoka nodded, "I've met one, but I know there will be others. Something is hunting them down. I don't know what it is. I've never seen it. But if you will help me find the children, as well as whatever's hunting them, I will join your rebellion."

When Bail agreed to Ahsoka's terms, Tano turned to Kyra, "And Padawan Kryze, if you'd be willing, I could use your help tracking down Force-sensitive children as well."

Kyra saluted the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, "I would be honored, Padawan Tano."

A ghost of a smile crossed Ahsoka's face, but it quickly disappeared, "I'm not a Padawan anymore, Kyra. And it's not safe to be Ahsoka Tano."

"I know how you feel. I mean, if you go to Mandalore and ask who I am, those that know me will say my name is Cerra Killian," Kyra replied, and she could see the sympathy in Ahsoka's eyes. "Barriss Offee was wrong about a lot of things. She let her anger cloud her judgment and she tried to justify her actions without considering their wider effects. She was afraid of the war and she didn't trust the people she should have listened to. But she had a point about the Republic and the Jedi. We were flawed, and we were too locked into our traditions to fix those flaws. However, Barriss shouldn't have killed anyone, and she definitely shouldn't have framed you for her actions, but if we'd listened to her, really listened, we might've been able to stop Palpatine before he took power."

"The Chancellor played his hand very well," Bail admitted, venom lacing his tone. "He kept us so busy jumping at shadows that we didn't notice which of the shadows were real."

Ahsoka sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, "I thought I was done with the war, but maybe I don't know how to do anything else. I tried to cut myself off, but I kept getting drawn back in."

Kyra considered Ahsoka's words for a moment before she said, "I think the three of us are meant to focus on the present."

Bail's brow furrowed, "What do you mean?"

"In this fight, there will be people like Barriss who are focused on the past," Kyra explained. "And there will be other people who focus on the future. Neither of them is wrong, but even if we don't always walk the same path as one another, ours must be the middle road."

Both Bail and Ahsoka smiled as the latter replied, "That's what I thought when I was trying to find the crystals that power my new lightsabers. I didn't want to be alone, but I didn't want to be a general or even a padawan anymore. I want something in the middle of that, still useful but different than before."

As the Tantive IV exited hyperspace, Bail said, "I'm glad I let you in on this meeting, Padawan Kryze."

Kyra bowed her head, "Happy to be of service, Senator Organa."

"Who handles your channels of communications? Your intelligence networks?" Ahsoka asked.

"No one, really," Bail admitted. "That's most of the problem. Everything I'm trying to build is too new and too fragile. We're not as secure as I'd like us to be, and things slip through the cracks as a result."

Ahsoka and Kyra shared a glance before Tano turned back to Bail and said, "We can help with that, I think."

When Bail arched an eyebrow, Ahsoka continued, "During the Clone Wars, Kyra and I worked with a lot of people. We fought alongside clones, who took orders from us even though we lacked their experience. We've watched politics on a dozen different worlds. We've helped train people who'd never held a blaster in their lives. When we did all that, we had the Jedi to back us up, but I think we can do almost as good a job with you."

"You want to recruit people?" Organa asked.

"Not exactly. Though if we found good people, we would certainly try to bring them in," Ahsoka replied. "I'm suggesting that we take your recruits and find missions for them. We could be the ones who listen to what people need, the ones who find out what people can do and help them do it."

Bail nodded, beginning to catch on, "You want to take over running my intelligence networks."

"Operating from the shadows isn't really my style," Kyra interjected. "Even when I was believed to be dead, I didn't hide under a different name, I just fought under a different name."

"How about this: You help me get the intelligence networks running, and when I'm sure I can handle the job by myself, you can be my eyes on the ground," Ahsoka suggested. "You'll still be a part of all the action, helping the recruits and innocent civilians fight, but you'll also help with setting up secure comms channels and maintaining the intelligence networks."

Kyra considered Ahsoka's offer for a moment, then nodded, "And, in between missions, I'll help you search for Force-sensitive children."

Ahsoka smiled, "Sounds like we have a deal. What do you think, Senator?"

"I think I'm going to end up a lot further in your debt than you are in mine," Bail stated.

"Let's just call it even and stop keeping track," Kyra suggested. "We're going to be busy enough as it is."

A short, humorless laugh escaped the senator's lips as he turned to Tano, "What am I going to call you, if I can't call you Ahsoka? You'll need a code name at the least, so you can deal with other operatives."

Ahsoka stared out the viewport as they neared the senator's homeworld of Alderaan, a beautiful planet decorated with lush forests and brilliant, blue oceans teeming with life. Clouds speckled the majestic mountain ranges and the sun's light reflected in the white skyscrapers, causing the cities to sparkle.

"Fulcrum," Ahsoka finally answered, deciding to take Anakin Skywalker's code name as her own. "You can call me Fulcrum."

Bail nodded, propping his arms on his desk and steepling his fingers as he turned to Kyra, "And what about you, Padawan Kryze? What shall I call you?"

"I fully intend on using my real name, if that's all right with you," Kyra replied. "As you already know, the Empire's discovered that I'm still alive, so I see no reason to continue hiding when I could be doing something productive."

"You may use your real name, but I think it would be wise for you to create a code name, in case you're assigned an undercover mission," Bail suggested.

Kyra mulled over the dozens of different code names that popped into her head, when finally, she asked, "How about Phantom?"

"I think that's fitting. You remind me of my daughter, Leia. I think she would like you," Organa said with a smile, but he quickly sobered. "Until we have the numbers to ensure your safety, I advise you and Ahsoka to lie low and use your code names until further notice. Do you have somewhere you can go?"

Ahsoka Tano nodded, and when Kyra shook her head, Bail stated, "Then you will stay on Alderaan as my guest. In order to protect your identity, you will need to change your appearance and name for the time being, seeing as the Empire will know to look for a young girl with black hair by the name of Cerra Killian."

Kyra Kryze bowed her head, "Thank you, Senator. I don't know what to say."

"I do," Senator Bail Organa replied as he stood and moved out from behind his desk, taking one of the girls' hands in each of his. "Welcome to the Rebellion."
