The hero and the Dragonslayer
"Man! I can't believe I get to eat Mei's cooking!" Kiana Kaslana, a young teenager, said with a bright smile as she walked home. She had managed to befriend the beautiful Mei.
As she walked to her current apartment, the young woman froze and stopped as she heard something.
"Music?" Curiously, the young woman approached the source and found it. A young man with dark hair and eyes,
'Neath a faltered sky; cross loamless plains, and watered blight
Ah! Where gone those days, once Glory shone so bright?
Fallen 'neath baleful wings dark as night.
Ah! A moment give to me
Hark! Shall none hear this soul's tale,
Of a land, benight?
Pitiful man whom death has undone,
Leaned upon a broken blade, looks too, skyward.
Prithee above (Almighty One) Be this thy word?
Cried out, begged for truth but no answer's sound be heard.
Yet, now he sees the dragon's dogma,
Unbound by time; all-binding, grand design.
Land and skies, and seas yearn,
Finish the cycle of eternal return.
Finish the cycle of eternal return.
A young man around her age playing a guitar sang softly and she could feel it. The sorrow and melancholy in his voice.
"Staring is wrong, young Kaslana," Hearing the words, Kiana Kaslana jumped away with wide blue eyes as she saw another man, one older than the musician but they looked the same.
"What the?!"
"Easy, I am Ren, Ren Cruz." The man said as the musician stopled playing his tune. "It is a pleasure to meet a Kaslana once more."
"How?!" Kiana asked, getting ready to fight if she needed to-
"Stop creeping her out," The musician said with a deadpan tone. Kiana turned around and noticed the taller male around her age and saw the annoyance in his hollow dark orbs.
"Now, now. She is a distant reltaive to my captain." Ren said with a smile. "Alright, you two! We're going to eat dinner!"
"What?" Both Kiana and Rex said at the same time.
-_-_-_-
Inside a ramen stand, the trio of Rex, Kiana, and Rex can be seen sitting in front of a counter with Rex having a blank look on his face as he listened to the two.
"Really?!"
"Yes, your ancestor, Captain Kevin Kaslana saved my life." Ren said with a smile as he recounted his life story under Kevin to Kiana.
"So cool!" Kiana said with a smile. "That's it! I'm gonna be strong like Grandpa Kevin and Mei will be mine!" Kiana said with a perverted giggle as she imagined herself saving Mei and...
Ren for his part, was shocked as his order came. Kiana knew someone named Mei?! It must have been a coincidence...
Rex said nothing after thanking the waiter as he took his bowl of ramen. Eagerly taking his chopsticks, the young man was going to indulge himself to ramen. After all, he rarely ate anything not too healthy according to his sisters-in-law. They might hide it but he knew they liked his brothers... except big sis Ely. She made it clear during his brother's prom by crashing the party with a big smile on her face before focusing on Rein like an arrow.
That got a 10/10 from him as well as an instant favorite.
"So, who are you?" Hearing the question, the former arisen looked at Kiana with noodles in his mouth and his cheeks puffed out. Seeing this, Kiana giggled a bit. Swallowing the noodles, the young man looked at her.
"Rex, Rex Crozzo." Rex replied ad he went back to his meal.
"Hmm, that's it?" Kiana asked, looking at him eagerly.
"Yes," Rex replied as he went back to eating his ramen. Seeing this, Kiana just pouted at his dismissive attitude.
Watching the scene made Ren facepalm at his descendant's apathy. A girl was talking to him and he didn't really care. Well, considering what he went through in Bitterblack Isle amd at Gransys... Well it is up to him to at least help his adorable descendant to get a friend.
"You know, Captain Kevin and I once promised that our descendants would be good friends. Rex here might be rough around the edge but he is a good man." Ren said with a smile. "In fact, he has similar hobbies like you."
"Hmph!" Kiana ignored Ren, annoyed at the way she was being ignored by an apathetic Rex who was busy stuffing his face.
"Fine..." Rex said, catching their attention as he lowered his chopsticks. "I am a hunter and I like hunting monsters." Rex said as he closed his eyes. "I also like fishing and baking."
"That's new." Ren said as he heard about the baking part.
"Big sis Ely taught me." Rex said with a soft smile at the fond memory of Elysia inviting him to the kitchen once she noticed him watching her bake. It was a fun bonding experience.
"Ooh how many sweets can you make?!" Kiana excitedly asked with a bright grin, leaning in to the young teen.
Rex recoiled and inched a way as he looked at her. "Mostly cakes... and bread." He said as he looked at aren for help. His ancestor only gave him a thumbs up of approval.
"You should make her some." Ren said with a smile. "We do have an oven in our apartment."
Rex gave him a look of bloody murder.
"Ooh, here's my number!" Kiana said, writing on a tissue and handing it to him.
Rex, remembering what Elysia taught him.
Flashback:
"Rexy, if a girl gives you her number, take it." Elysia said with a gentle smile as she used her scissors to cut off parts of his long hair.
"But why?"
"Just do it, don't be like Reiny," Elysia said with a smile.
Flashback end
Kiana watched as Rex took his phone out and inputted the number on it. Her blue eyes widened as she saw the callouses on his hand
Well, she made a new friend. One that she hopefully wished to last a lifetime.
"Here," hearing the voice of his new friend, Kiana's eyes widened as she felt a soft cloth dab the sides of her mouth. Rex gently wiped her mouth amd she leaned in to the warmth of his palm like a cat.
