Chapter Eight
I've managed to read through most of the basics about healing spells last night and understand them a little bit better now. According to the spell book, vampires possess magic on different levels and some more than others. That also means since I'm only half vampire, I most likely possess half of what my mother and sister have. Maybe nothing at all.
Lost in my own thoughts a boy moves to the seat in front of me during academic class. His body blocking everything the teacher has written on the board. Moving my head around like an idiot, I start to get irritated. I open my mouth to ask him to move out of the way but the thought of him not listening to me prevents it from coming out. It's a good thing I took two pills today.
After a while the boy turns around to face me, resting his elbow on my desk and stares at me with a smug look on his face.
"The second daughter of Rosemary Thornhale, the great royal healer." he chuckles darkly. "The king should punish the both of you for refusing to assist the kingdom. Let me guess, you think just because you're born in a well-known family you can do what you want" he glares.
He's talking like he hates the fact that I'm from the Thornhale family. Confused I look around and notice I'm sitting on the left side of the classroom. The commoner side. When I look back at him and still not answer, he looks even angrier by my silence.
"I'm sure you'll receive your punishment eventually. The king doesn't take things like that kindheartedly." he smirks, the bell rings and he grabs his bag aggressively, walking out with three students. I store my notebook that I got from the teacher into my bag and hear students gasping and whispering to each other. I try my best not to listen to because I knew the reason.
I was sitting on the wrong side.
With a heavy sigh I walk out of the classroom and towards the break room, this time without Sera. The table we sat at yesterday are now occupied with other students and I didn't see Aster and Sera anywhere. It's much busier today which makes it harder for me to spot the two of them. Just as I turn around to leave the room a finger taps me on the shoulder and Sera smiles at me with her sharp fangs.
"I'm glad you found the break room on your own."
"I thought I'm going to be alone today." I breathe out in relief.
"I wouldn't do that to you. "She says and looks around. "Is Aster here yet?" she asks.
"No. I don't think so."
"He's probably flirting with a girl somewhere. The place looks very full today, let's go sit outside." she motions for me to follow her. Walking out, we take a seat on a bench right underneath the light lamp. It was quieter outside with only a handful of students walking around. I inhale the fresh air, glad to de away from all the noise inside.
"What course do you and Aster take? You already know what I'm taking but I don't know yours."
"I take a history. Boring I know. As for Aster he takes defense and defend. I thought you knew that by the way his body was built."
Wait Aster is a warrior? That's definitely not the course I expected him to study for.
"That doesn't sound boring. Does that mean you know a lot of our lore then?" I ask.
"It's endless. I keep forgetting everything. Why was I born into a family of history maniacs?" she groans loudly and leans back into the bench. "At least I get to talk a lot, that's one thing I should be thankful for." she frowns then looks past my shoulders, sitting up. I turn around, following her gaze and see my sister. I could tell she's not happy to see me still here at the academy.
Sera stands up. "Your sister probably wants to talk to you. I'll go and see if I can find Aster." she smiles and walks back into the break room giving me and Kate privacy.
Kate sits down next to me. There was silence between the two of us as she waits for the students outside to move away. I know why she's here. I wasn't gone yet.
"I can't just leave." I break the silence.
"Yes you can and I know exactly how. You have to get expelled by the royals." she says.
"You...want them to expel me?" I ask in disbelief. Doesn't that mean, they'll kick me out for not following the rules? She wants me to break them and get myself in trouble?
"You have to for our sakes. If you get exposed they'll kill mom and my life will forever be ruined. Don't you see how serious this is." She asks sternly.
"I'm not saying it's not. I know the how serious this is."
"Then get yourself expelled. All you need to do is fail both classes; academically and practically. They'll have no reason to keep you here. You can leave." she speaks.
"You just have to keep it up until the end of the week when it's time for the royals to test you. Nadeline you don't even have to do anything. It's simple. Just fail."

Ignoring all the girls in the bathroom I take a quick shower and wash myself. When I'm done I wrap the towel around me and walk out of the bathroom. I couldn't have gotten dressed inside because the bathroom was too occupied tonight. It would've been embarrassing to have to stand in front of everyone naked.
I sprint down the hallway with just a towel and burst into my room, closing it shut. Deciding not to get dressed immediately I stay in the towel longer. The rooms are much warmer than the freezing hall I just ran through. I brush my hair and open the closet, grabbing a comfortable thin strap shirt, sweatpants and a night gown to slip into. I looked down at the books and papers scattered on my bed. I'm supposed to go through them tonight. I couldn't create a healing spell into today's practical class either. At this point I might fail practical class just like Kate wants me too.
I lay them on top of each other and move them to one side of the bed. Getting expelled sound dangerous, what if they punish me instead and think I'm trying to get out on purpose? And if they punish me, I'll bleed. And if I bleed...I'm dead.
Pacing around I get the urge to draw and get mind off of things. I open my bag that I brought on the first day and pull out my music player. I open my sketchbook and sit down at the desk, grabbing a pencil and glancing at the roses I secured in a cup of water. I still don't know how they got here. I start the music and put in my earphones and start to draw randomly. Following the flow of the pencil and my intuition. An hour later, I pull out my earphones, lift it up the sketchbook and realize what... or rather who I've drawn. The royal prince.
There's a soft knock on the door and at first I thought I might have imagined it. That's until I could feel the presence of a person outside the door. Sera's the only one who knows where my room is. I wait for another knock but it doesn't come. I close my sketchbook and go to the door, opening it. I was wrong, it wasn't Sera...
His chest moves up and down from the deep breaths he was taking. I never thought a vampire could look even paler. Yet he is. His red hair was a mess and sweat drips down his forehead. He looks towards me and push past me, closing the door with a loud bang.
"Remember the deal?" he whispers and in a split second he pushes me down onto the bed with him hovering on top of me.
"W...Wait. You can't just. I haven't agreed to anything." I stutter, my voice shaking. I shift around trying to get away from him but feel my gown slipping off my shoulder in the process, exposing my shirt underneath. I didn't have a bra on and I know it was noticeable when his gaze goes down to my chest. His adam apple moves up and down as he swallows, looking away. I pull my gown back up with trembling hands.
"I've tasted you and now I can't get enough. I haven't fed in 9 hours. I can't feed off a human that's not you. What have you done to me? I need more than just a taste." he says, and his arms resting next to me starts to shake.
My eyes widen and I stop moving completely. I've never been fed upon. What if it hurts really bad and I scream from the pain? What if he drains and kill me?
"No." I plead, shaking my head. His eyebrows pull together, a hint of regret in his gaze.
"I'll be gentle." he whispers and then brings his mouth down to my neck. I gasp pushing my hands against his chest.
"You're...warm." he mumbles against my neck and sinks his teeth into my flesh. The pain was sharp and very uncomfortable. I let out a soft whimper but he quickly covers my mouth with his hand. I grip the covers underneath me as the pain increases and I feel the blood leaving my body. I slide my hand to my chest putting it over my heart. Don't panic I remind myself.
The moment I feel blood rushing to my heart. The pain disappears, replaced with something else, something pleasurable. I bring my knees up and feel them poking his stomach. He lets out what sounds like a moan and grabs one knee stopping me. My breathing increases even more and I'm seconds away from passing out.
He pulls back, pulling out his fangs from my skin and removes his hand from my mouth. I feel the wet and coldness of his tongue as he rolls it over my skin. I grab onto him, moaning, by how sensitive it was. Then he's gone, leaving the door open. I catch my breath as I continue to lay on the bed. The room spins and I stay down for a couple more minutes waiting for some of my strength to return. I force myself up, closing and locking the door, eventually falling asleep from exhaustion.
