Chapter Thirty: The Storm

♢♡Craig♡♢

Dinner was horrible. Trying to fall asleep was horrible. Waking up was horrible.

Brian is coaxing my eyes open the entire ride to school, telling me that I'll see Tyler tonight and everything will be fine. Part of me wants to believe him, but another part of me is telling me something bad is happening. When I walk into the classroom, the conversation makes my heart stop. Right now, I hate Jonathan.

"Did ya hear they're freein' the faggot!? Who the hell let that happen!? Y'know, I felt tis' storm in my bones all fuckin' week and now I know why! It's gonna get worse too, m' bones are still rattlin'" He growls, slamming his hand down on the desk. "Jonny, I think you should calm down. He's out and there's nothin' you can do about it" Brock says softly, everyone glancing at Evan, who refuses to meet their gazes.

"Nah! I'm gonna find that faggot an' put a bullet in 'is skull. 'E's living in defiance in god!" Jonathan snaps, crossing his arms. Brian grabs my forearm, stopping me from smacking him. "Oh boy" Evan mumbles when he spots me, I bet I look like I'm fuming. "Mr. Thompson!" Jonathan shouts, leaping to his feet. All eyes are on us now. "Mr. Dennis" I growl back, shaking Brian off. Brock comes to his side and Evan looks about ready to intervene.

"You fuckin' freed the faggot! You're on 'is side, aren't chya!? Ey everyone! Mr. Thompson 'ere is fucking faggot too!" Jonathan shouts, stepping closer. I step right back up to him and snarl. "I suggest you sit down, Jonathan, and shut your mouth" I hiss from between my teeth, my hands balling into fists. "Jonathan, please" Evan murmurs, grabbing Jonathan's wrist. Jonathan shakes him off "Fuck off Ev! I'm dealin' with this bitch now"

I take a deep breath and growl lowly. "Call me or Tyler one more name and you will regret it" I tell him, dropping my voice to be more threatening. "No! I live in a god abidin' family and I refuse t' let you faggots come in and ruin 'is town!" Jonathan screams, stepping closer. "I knew the storm was comin' and now I see 't eye of it! You!" Jonathan growls, shoving on my shoulders hard enough to make me stumble.

"Jonathan stop it!" Luke snarls, bolting up. He grabs Jonathan's shirt and slams him against the wall, growling. He quiets down so the entire class can't hear him, just the few kids at the front. Namely, us. "You got family 'o's homosexual, y'hear? Not only that, but you're livin' in defiance of god too. Why do you think y' look nothin' like pa and me? Ask ma about that one. Stop actin' like you're better then everyone else" He snarls. Jonathan's eyes are wide with shock and something like fear, glancing around and suddenly turning dark red.

Lucky for us, Mrs. Gilly walks in. "What in tarnation is going on in here?" She asks, looking around. Luke let's go of Jonathan and sits down, frowning. "Nothin' Miss. Right, Jonathan?" He hisses the ending and Jonathan swallows hard before nodding, sitting down too. The rest of us slowly sit, the air tense. This is going to be a long day.

Lucky for me, Jonathan seems to have cooled down by break. He even apologizes, but he doesn't look happy about it. I saw him and Luke whispering earlier, and I feel bad for Luke. I hope he and Marcel will be alright. Not only that, but I wanna just get home and see Tyler, make sure he's alright. Brian keeps on telling me to calm down but then I see storm clouds gather, and Jonathan starts staring.

"I told ya, Craig Thompson. You're the eye of the storm, aren't you?"
