Leopold's P.O. V

I run after them, forgetting entirely about Angela. I found them deep in the woods. The way Isabella is positioned in the dirt looks like Adak didn't give a second thought about how he threw her.

"Adak... Please... You saw that she was beginning to believe me, and not only that... Darkness is once again in my heart-"

Adak stares at me, arm crossed over his chest. "What you did back there wasn't a real break up, Leopold. I want you to destroy Isabella. Please make her hate even the mention of your name. I want to ensure that what happened in that basement doesn't happen again."

"It won't." 

Adak smirks. "I know it won't." I stared at Isa with worry now. I take an involuntary step towards her. "I curse the day I send you to kill her and her family. I should have done it myself. You would still be mine." He glares at Isa, which makes me worry sick about her safety.

"I'm going with you. I won't see her." 

Adak smiles cruelly at me. "You forget I know you, Leopold. You'll find a way to get on my nerves so I can send you away. And the love that girl expressed back there. Well. I could see her forgiving you. There can't be love in your heart. I want you the way you were when I first turned you."

I glare at him. He released the monster, ensuring I didn't deserve Isa's love.

"Ok. Now that is clear. Wake her up."

"She will in time," he says with a shrug.

"What did you do to her, Adak?" I ask warily.

"You want me to wake her up now? Will that make you feel better?" 

"I just want to see her go home..."

"Why doubt me, Leopold," he sounds irritated.

"I never trusted anyone-"

"You used to trust me. I'll never truly hurt you. I'm your maker," he rolls his eyes at me and glares at Isa. "I wouldn't kill her after you fought to keep her alive. I killed the hunter and his family so no one else would come after her or you."

"I thought you were going to wake her up," I interrupt.

 Adak chuckles. He bends towards Isa, grabs her by the neck, and throws her hard against a tree. I know that didn't hurt her. She wakes up with a hiss and crouches. "I forgive you for your crimes, girl. You are free to go." 

She stood up straight and stared at me with a frown. Then, with much effort, she turns to look at Adak. "Just like that?" her tone is full of suspicion. She bit her beautiful lip as she waited for an answer.

"How about Leo? Can he go?" We all heard the silence with me in that sentence.

"Yes. I can't fight with him anymore about you. I won't stop him," the asshole lies smoothly. 

Isa gave an enormous smile and walked towards me slowly. I hid my pain and stared at her with an icy face. Now that I fed, it's easy to lie to Isabella.  "Let's go," she extends her hands towards me.

"I'm staying with Adak for a few days," I made days sound like the truth. It would be over a few days before we see each other again. 

Pain crosses Isabella's features, but she hides it.

"Run along now, girl," Adak said with a smirk as he stared at her, enjoying her pain, but I noticed his eyes were lingering on Isabella's bare legs, which reminded me that the girl was wearing only a long shirt. I take off my jacket and put it around her body; Adak finishes his sentence with a growl at my actions. "Before I change my mind." That is a warning directed at me. Isa doesn't notice.

"Just go back to school, Isabella," I say, as cold and bored as I could manage. To tell her complete name would get the point across. 

She turns towards Adak with a glare. "Could I possibly speak with Leo alone?" 

"Sure, but remember this Isabella Hathaway. You are a vampire now; wake up on the dark side and let the light turn down. Love is pain, and dark is good. You will live happily ever after if you join the dark." Isabella blinks for a second in a daze. Adak gives her a cruel smile and then disappears. I fake an exaggerated sigh and turn to her with a glare.

"What do you want?" I snap at Isa.

This is dangerous.

"I want you-"

"I don't want you." It came out colder than I intended.

"That's a lie," but there's a tremble in her voice.

"Is it?" I say in a taunting tone. Just go, baby. We are not meant to be together.

"You know damn well it is! Why are you set on breaking my heart like this? Are you still trying to save my life?" 

I give her a crooked smile that feels fake even to me. Smart girl. I give her that. "You, more than anyone, have seen how many girls' hearts I have broken. You are no different."

"So I'm just another one of your conquests?"

"That's right." 

A tear fell down her cheek, and she cleaned it angrily. "Yet, I have never seen Adak get involved until you slept with me."

Oh, no, she's not buying it...

"That's because I fuck and leave. I have been sticking with you, even rescued you to look like Prince Charming in your eyes." I made my tone sound tauntingly.

"I have never needed a prince charming, and I am not about to need one now."

"Good. Then leave, stop begging for scraps-"

"If I were begging for scraps, I would have gone already. You feel-"

"Stop it," I growl at her and walk closer until I stand before her, putting my hands on each side of her shoulder and shaking her softly. "Stop doing this to yourself! I am not in love with you! I never was. I told you from the very moment I saw you that I have been wanting to fuck your brains out. They sent me out to kill you and your entire family, but when I got to you. It has been too damn easy. I needed something more. Something exciting. I wanted you to come looking for me with a revenge story in your little head so I could make you fall in love with me just like you are right now. Exactly forgetting what I did to you and beg me to love you." Isa lets out a strangled gasp and staggers back. I let go of her so she could have some space away from me. I lost my nerve for a second as I could see how much I hurt her, but I needed her to leave hating me. So I take it further. "Look at you now. I am begging a monster for his love. I always get what I want. Always. Do you think you are the first person I kill a family member? Then, please wait for the girl to come at me with revenge. It always ends the same way, with the girl on her knees first to give me pleasure, then begging me not to leave her."

Although I was telling the truth, the words tasted awful. Isabella's face loses color as she stares at me, ignoring the tears falling down her cheek.  But I knew I had to break her heart so she would let go.

"Leo..." her voice breaks, and I know it takes a lot from her to continue talking. Isabella hates showing weakness. "You can't leave me. You turned me into a vampire... YOUR vampire. What am I supposed to do now?"

"Isn't it obvious?" I say with a smirk.

Isabella looked back blankly; she stared at me with tears rolling down her cheek, making me think she would not walk away from me. I will fuck up and take it all back. I can't stand hurting her like this.

 "I lie, you can figure it out for yourself," I sounded cruel and cold.

Isabella's mouth dropped open, and she recoiled back as if I had slapped her. "Why... torture me like this?" She whispers the words, and I have no answer for her, at least not now. My hands fall to my side, and I shrug as if she's not worth the explanation. "Then finish it. I feel tortured; you got what you wanted from me! KILL ME!"

"What?!" her words caught me off guard.

"You heard me. Kill me!" 

She walks towards me and slaps me across the face, then punches me in the chest, over and over. "You fucking coward!" 

I grab both of her wrists to stop her assaults on me. "Leave me alone, Isabella Hathaway. I am done with your self-pity. Go back to school and stay there safely. I command you."

I push her off me roughly and turn around as a slight tear falls down my cheek. I keep walking towards the basement as I tune Isabella's feeling entirely off and let the darkness consume my heart. I wipe the tear off my face before Angela can see.

"Finally," Angela snaps at me. "What were you doing?" 

I open the door to her cell. "Getting rid of Isabella Hathaway. It is harder than I thought." 

Angela stares at me, looking for pain. She's not about to see it, at least not now. "You truly dumped her?" I nod and stare at her. I could not let Angela back in school. Isa would know all this is Adak's doing, so I gave her my most charming smile.

"Yup. I am not going back to school." Pain crosses Angela's features with a glare. "Would you like to go with me?"

"You want ME to go with you?" 

I nod. "Carmel becomes boring after a few weeks, and I am not returning to school in a long time. You seem like the girl that wouldn't mind sharing." 

She nods. I extend my hands toward her, and she grabs it. We walk back to the council hand in hand. I will make sure Adak regrets forcing me to stay in the council. Just because I release Carmel doesn't mean her love for me is gone. Carmel was in love with me before I turned her, just like Isabella was. So, I will take Carmel back from Adak's grasp and keep her and Angela to myself. Eventually, jealousy would get the best of him, and he would command me to take a break.

Once in the council. I sit on the sofa, and Angela sits beside me. I call out for Carmel and smirk as I see her coming out from Adak's room without Adak. I give her my most charming smile and pat a spot next to me. Carmel walks all too willingly and sits next to me. She had already forgotten that I had released her as my progeny not long ago.

"I am glad to see the old you back," Carmel says, resting her head on my chest. "You didn't need Isabella Hathaway, anyway."

I say nothing. That sentence does not deserve a response. Carmel rubs on my leg, and it doesn't affect me. I worried I didn't feel Isabella for a moment, but I remembered that I had tuned her out. I laugh. Darkness is in my heart, and I still want to turn around and keep Isabella Hathaway. I need to do more, to become more despicable. I need to forget about her for a while. Although I don't feel like it, I take a deep breath and put on the most evil smile.

"So Carmel, it is time we break into our new toy," Carmel and I stare at Angela hungrily; she looks scared but smiles. I stand up. "Let's go have some fun, girls." I give them my bad-boy smile.
