Chapter 33 - Desperation

Asher's POV

"...Someone kidnapped him..." She murmured, crying.

"What?" I mumbled barely.

My heart tightened as I heard what she told. I looked at her with wide eyes.

She leaned her head against my chest, crying.

"Calm down, Ellie. We will find him. I promise I will find him and bring him back to you. Trust me." I promised, looking into her eyes, cupping her cheeks. She nodded while tears were running down her cheeks.

"Please, Ash. He is so little." She murmured, giving me a begging look while sobbing.

I leaned her head against my chest as I hugged her tightly. My eyes welled up. I was frightened. I would kill that bastard who had kidnapped my son with my own hands.

After talking to the police, I hung up my phone. They were coming to my penthouse to talk to us.

I wrapped my arms around Eleanor as I helped her to walk. She was still crying. I was worried about her too. She looked bad.

"What happened?" My father asked, worried as he approached us in the hallway.

"Romeo... Someone kidnapped him." I replied barely. There was a tight knot formed in my throat.

"What?!" He exclaimed anxiously.

"The police will come to my penthouse to ask some questions. We need to go." I informed.

He nodded, looking at Eleanor who was crying while she was gripping my jacket.

"I am coming with you. I will ask Jason to look for them too." I nodded.

Everybody was in my penthouse. The police were searching who had kidnapped my son. They told us that there was a high possibility that they had kidnapped Romeo to demand a ransom.

We were waiting for them to call us. Meanwhile, Jason and his team were searching for some hint to find them, too.

I looked at Eleanor who was crying desperately, leaning against her mother. My mother was sitting beside her while they were trying to calm her down.

I stood up and approached her. I bent down beside her and held her hands in my hands.

"Ellie, please. Calm down. We will find him." I stated, giving her a reassuring look.

"I will search for him. Yeah, I can not sit here without doing anything while my son is somewhere I don't know." She said, sobbing and stood up.

Suddenly, her head spun. I caught her by wrapping my arms around her waist instantly before she fainted.

"Ellie!" I scooped her up in my arms bridal style.

"Call the doctor." I ordered my mother. She nodded and grabbed her phone.

The doctor gave Eleanor a medication to calm her down. She was sleeping now.

I stroked her hair gently, holding her hand. I placed a soft kiss on her forehead and left, letting her sleep.

I went to my study room. Waiting without doing anything made me mad. I felt helpless and devastated. Thinking that they could do something bad to my son made me crazy. I didn't know what to do.

"Are you okay?" Eleanor's father asked, interrupting my thoughts as he walked in.

"Actually not." I replied, depressed, running my hand through my hair and sighed.

"We will find him." He stated, giving me a compassionate look as he approached me.

"I hope." I muttered and closed my eyes as I held my head in my hands.

He squeezed my shoulder slightly.

"You have to be strong for Eleanor and your son." He said firmly.

I nodded, speechless, surprised by his attitude.

He tapped my shoulder and went towards the door.

"Thanks." I said as he was about to walk out.

He stopped and turned around. I gave him a grateful look. He nodded as he gave me a slight smile and left.

Three hours had passed, but there was no news for now. When I was going to check Eleanor, I heard the news on TV. I stopped and listened to it.

The most eligible bachelor and playboy, Asher Edward Wright and the real-estate heiress, Eleanor Miller's son was kidnapped this afternoon. The boy was with his nanny at the park when two men approached them and attacked his nanny. Then they left with Romeo Asher Wright and got in black Sedan. The police are still searching for them.

I breathed deeply, clenching my fist. As the time was passing, I was getting more frightened. I couldn't listen to the news anymore. My heart tightened in my chest and a knot formed in my throat. I sighed and went to my bedroom.

When I walked in, I saw Eleanor crying while pressing Romeo's giraffe against her chest while leaning against the headboard.

I clenched my fist, feeling bad. I couldn't bear to see my woman crying desperately. On the other hand, my boy. My treasure was in their hands. I had never felt this much helpless like now. It felt like I couldn't breathe anymore.

When she lifted her head up, our eyes met. She nibbled her lower lip, sobbing. My heart sank every time as I saw her tears.

"He will cry without his giraffe." She murmured, bringing the giraffe towards her nose and smelt it. "Will they feed him? It is his dinner time." She asked, crying.

Tears shimmered in my eyes. I approached her and sat down beside her on the bed. I wrapped my arms around her shoulder and pulled her into my chest. She buried her head into the crook of my neck. She gripped my jumper while crying hysterically. Tears ran down my cheeks as I looked at the giraffe on the bed.

"Ash, find him." She begged, crying as she pulled back slightly. "Find our son." She pleaded.

"I will find him, Ellie. Trust me." I promised, wiping my tears off my cheeks and stroked her cheek gently.

When she got up, suddenly, her head spun.

"Ellie!" I caught her by wrapping my arm around her waist instantly.

"Please, pull yourself together. I will find our son. I promise you. Meanwhile, you have to take care of this little one." I stated, worried and stroked her stomach. "And when I bring Romeo back to you, you have to be healthy and strong. Now try to sleep a little." I gave her a begging look and stroked her hair gently.

"No, Asher. I don't want to sleep when my son is in danger." She protested.

"Please, Ellie. I will wake you up if we find something." I promised, looking into her eyes as I cupped her cheeks.

"Promise?" She murmured.

"Yes, I promise. Now lay down, baby." I gave her a reassuring smile and placed a tender kiss on her forehead.

After she had laid down on the bed, I pulled the blanket over her body. I kissed her forehead, stroking her hair. She closed her eyes, hugging the giraffe against her chest tightly.
