Chapter 25 - Mr. Don't mess up with me
Asher's POV
"Yes, sir....And I see her with this baby almost every day. She drops him at her parents' mansion and picks him up after work every day. I wanted to be sure before informing you, sir." He paused and sighed. "I think your suspicion is true."
I was staring at Felix, frozen. I gathered myself and muttered. "Send me the location."
"What happened? You look...odd." Felix asked, giving me a questioning look.
"It seems I am getting my answer tonight." I mumbled.
I stopped my car in front of the hospital. I felt so nervous. As soon as I walked in, Jason greeted me.
"Sir, her parents arrived a few minutes ago." He informed. I nodded.
I was getting sure that Romeo was my son.
When she saw me, her eyes widened in shock. I placed my hands into my pockets and approached her. I was furious. I couldn't stop myself from being angry at her.
How could she keep my son away from me a secret? Yeah, I was a coward, but still I couldn't control my anger.
"What..."
"Why are you here with Romeo?" I cut her off, plunging my piercing eyes into hers.
She bit her lower lip, averting my gaze.
"....His parents are abroad. Jane and I take care of him. They will come back next week." She mumbled nervously.
I looked at her, unconvinced. She was lying. I knew her very well. When she lied and hid something, she always averted her gaze, biting her lower lip nervously.
"What do you do here? Are you following me?" She snapped.
"Yes." I replied firmly, looking into her eyes.
She opened and closed her mouth without managing to say anything. She clenched her fist, looking at me angrily.
"Where is Jane then? Should she not be here considering it is her cousin's son?" I asked mockingly, emphasizing the words her cousin's son.
"I can not reach her. She turned off her phone. She went on a date with her boyfriend. I was taking care of Romeo tonight." She responded, trying to be indifferent. "Romeo felt uncomfortable. When I noticed he had a fever, I brought him here." She said, worried and looked at the room where Romeo was.
"Is he okay?" I asked, concerned.
"I don't know. The doctor is checking him." She replied anxiously and folded her arms over her chest.
"Ellie, is he my son?" I asked, plunging my piercing eyes into her dazzling eyes.
Her face got pale. She was staring at me without saying anything.
Damn! Answer me!
"What the hell are you doing here?" His father barked at me, interrupting us as he and Eleanor's mother approached us. But I ignored him, still looking into Eleanor's eyes, waiting for my answer.
"Eleanor, answer me!" I snarled. She jolted in her place. "Is Romeo my son?" I asked.
"Ash..." She mumbled.
"Damn! Eleanor, answer me!" I barked, frustrated.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Her father barked and grabbed my collar. "Stay away from my daughter!" He demanded. His face was red with rage.
"Dad!" Eleanor grabbed his arm, trying to separate us.
"Arthur, please. We are in the hospital." His wife said, trying to pull him back.
I gritted my teeth and pushed him back angrily. I grabbed Eleanor's arm.
"Is Romeo my son?" I asked her, emphasizing each word.
"...Yes." She muttered.
I looked at her speechless. I guessed it, but hearing it coming out of her mouth was different. The corner of my lips curled up in a smile. I was so happy.
My son. Romeo is my son.
I couldn't hold myself and hugged Eleanor in my arms tightly. I felt so emotional. My eyes welled up.
"He is my son." I muttered, smiling.
I pulled back as the doctor walked out.
"How is my son?" Eleanor asked, worried.
I approached the doctor and placed my hand on Eleanor's lower back.
"Don't worry, Miss. The temperature dropped. He just caught a cold." The doctor replied, giving us a smile.
I breathed deeply, relieved and pulled Eleanor into my chest, placing a soft kiss on her hair.
"Thank God." She muttered.
"You may take him home." The doctor informed.
"Thank you." I said. He nodded and left.
Eleanor and I walked into the room. Her parents followed us.
As I saw my sleeping son, I stopped.
My son. My flesh and blood. My treasure.
Eleanor approached him and kissed his forehead, stroking his hair. I was looking at them without knowing what to do. My mind got blank. I felt nervous. My heart was beating faster.
Finally, I managed to move towards him. I sat down beside him on the bed and held his little hand, smiling. It was an indescribable feeling. This little one was mine.
I placed a soft kiss on his hand as my eyes filled with tears of joy.
"My son." I muttered proudly and stroked his hand gently.
I leaned over and kissed his cheek, breathing his milky scent in. I looked at Eleanor. She was staring at us; her eyes welled up. I turned my gaze from her to my son.
"Hey, I am your father." I said softly and pressed his hand against my cheek, closing my eyes.
"Let's go." Her father suggested.
I stood up and wiped my tears off my cheeks with the back of my hand.
"I will drop you off." I said, looking at Eleanor.
"No need. I will drop them off." His father intervened.
"Please." I added, looking into Eleanor's eyes.
I wanted to spend more time with my son. I needed to make up for the lost time as much as possible.
"Dad....It is okay. Asher will drop us off." Eleanor said.
Her father clenched his fist, but didn't say anything. I gave her a grateful smile.
"I will get Romeo ready." She informed. I nodded happily.
After getting Romeo ready, she took him in her arms and carefully wrapped a blanket around him.
I placed my hand on her lower back as I headed us towards the exit. Her parents followed us.
I opened the back door of my car for Eleanor as we approached the car. Eleanor said goodbye to her parents and got in the car carefully. Then I got in the car. I looked at two precious people in my life, smiling and started the car.
