Chapter 8
"Get down!" Phillip yelled. I screamed. Phillip dragged me under a park bench, but it just fell away. Normally we would be okay-ish outside, but since we were at a park during this earthquake, there were plenty of things that could fall on us.
I got into the position for earthquakes we were taught at school. whenever we were in school doing these drills, I always thought they were stupid or that I was hurting my neck and sitting next to B.O. Bob for absolutely no reason, but at this moment, I was grateful for it.
The water in the fountain that was once gently splashing my back came down in buckets splashing everyone outside. Park benches flew.
Then the forces of nature decided that the earthquake wasn't enough, a thunderstorm started to brew in addition to the earthquake. Lightning bolts shuddered all around us.
We had to get somewhere safe. We couldn't be around all of these trees and water that was everywhere. We could get electrocuted quite easily.
I grabbed Phillips wrist and we dashed to the closest car and banged on the windows. The person let us in after a hesitant moment. We gasped "thank you" and then went to the backseat and hunched down. One of the best places you can be in a thunderstorm, is a car because the lightning goes off the sides of the car, and keeps everyone inside safe, and during an earthquake it is an okay spot to be, especially if you hunch down (or so we've heard).
I asked the paranoid couple in the front if they had ever seen anything like this. They said they hadn't seen a storm this wild ever!
I was officially terrified.
A tree branch smashed through the window, and it would have knocked me into a coma if it weren't for Phillip rushing me out of the way. The couple in the front looked terrified, but no one had the guts to scream.
At this time a tree fell on top of the car, denting it and putting me in a coma.
