Narrator: "The ruins of Vaile, a place of history and prophecy. The Runes were discovered several dozen years ago and had given everyone the ability to manipulate certain aspects of nature. The ruins show pieces of a prophecy that tells that an emissary of God will arrive and locate the one who will master the 14 symbols known Runes."

Inside a deep, dark mine....

Boss: "Put your backs into it you slaves!"

Narrator: "Slaves sadly are quite common in Vaile..."

A child around 11 pulls a giant cart of coal with a smile.

Boss: "Of course it's C-137 with the latest haul."

C-137: "(smiling) This was pretty easy to load up!"

The boss smacks C-137 across the face.

Boss: "(annoyed) Now get back to work!"

C-137: "(smiling) Sir yes sir!"

C-137 dashes back to his post down towards the bottom.

Boss: "Is that kid seriously enjoying this?!"

Narrator: "From the moment C-137 could walk, he was given a pickaxe and was told to dig day in, day out. He never complained though. He had an older sister, A-99, to help him push through with a smile."

Boss: "Alright! Your shifts are done!"

A-99: "He just makes them longer and longer every week and acts like we don't notice!"

C-137: "(smiling) The day we get out of here, we'll show everyone what Slavery really is!"

Narrator: "A-99 and C-137 had a dream, to leave the mines and outlaw slavery, but C-137 had a destiny, a destiny beyond his own imagination. C-137 has been able to use Runes since he could move his hands, and that sign is what saves him."

Meanwhile, in the nearby city of Lia...

Sage: "Focus Joseph..."

A boy is training under the Sage of Light, named Joseph Yeweys.

Joseph: "(focusing) Channel the energy through my fingertips..."

A Rune is engraved onto a bracelet and is glowing brightly.

Light Sage: "Now release it Joseph!"

A burst of light erupts from Joseph's hands as the glowing Rune returns to a neutral state.

Light Sage: "Truly you are improving, but you still have a ways before you become my successor."

Joseph: "I understand."

Now in the nearby forests...

???: "I should head into this town and see if anyone can help me locate the chosen."

A pure white creature with the head of a cat and the body of a fox enters Lia and nearly gets killed by several idiots on the road.

???: "These people seriously never heard of look down?!"

The creature comes to the home of the Light Sage.

???: "If anyone is going to help me, it's a Sage!"

The creature makes it to the front door.

Eryth: "Now Eryth, how to get in?"

Eryth thinks for a moment.

Eryth: "Looks like it's clawing at the door and asking someone to let me in. Plus, the windows are all shut."

Eryth begins clawing at the door.

Light Sage: "(hearing the door) What is clawing at the door? Do you mind checking Joseph?"

Joseph walks to the door.

Joseph: "Already one step ahead."

Joseph opens the door to find Eryth scratching the door.

Eryth: "(relieved) Thank god someone answered!"

Joseph: "(falling backwards) A talking cat... thing."

Eryth: "Just let me in. I know where the chosen is."

Eryth walks in.

Joseph: "Huh?!"

Joseph gets up and closes the door.

Light: "So you're Eryth, the emissary of God?"

Eryth: "Yep."

Joseph: "Wait! You're the emissary?!"

Eryth: "Not what you expected?"

Joseph: "(honestly) Yeah..."

Eryth: "Well listen up, I can feel the chosen's presence."

Light Sage: "The chosen has arrived?!"

Eryth: "But... his presence is underground."

Light Sage: "But that would mean that he is a slave miner!"

Eryth: "I just need some help getting in and I'll pull him right out."

Light Sage: "If you're here, then he should be in the coal mine just East of here. Give me a second..."

The Sage jots down a quick letter and stamps it with the Light Rune.

Light Sage: "I need to head to a meeting with the other Sages. Again, can you handle this Joseph?"

Joseph grabs the letter.

Light Sage: "And take this."

The sage also gives Joseph a bracelet with all 14 Runes on it.

Joseph: "This should be a piece of cake."

Eryth hops onto Joseph's shoulder.

Eryth: "Just once you get there, I'll point us directly to him."

Joseph opens the front door.

Joseph: "(daydreaming) So we're about to meet the chosen..."

Eryth: "Just hurry up!"

Joseph: "Y-Yeah, s-sorry."

Joseph and Eryth set off towards the coal mine...
