Max is a true free spirit. He is often the life of the party, but unlike other people he is less interested in the sheer excitement and pleasure of the moment than he is in enjoying the social and emotional connections he makes with others. Backstory
Childhood
Rougher than it needed to be to say the least. His father died when he was around 5 and his mother out of a panic convinced some tourists to take him. The family luckily was nice enough but lived in the South side of Chicago which wasn't exactly the best place. He got along with Trevor who did some reason looked very similar to him. Not much he could complain about except all the crime around him. Trevor and him usually didn't leave the house.

Teenage
School was alright though he wasn't the brightest when it did come to book smarts. He was a lot better with people and was a total socialite. He tried to tone down his accent a bit so he wouldn't be found weird as the foreign kid but with some words he still struggles. He had fun and partied until ,mostly as a joke to his buddies, he put out a song. It went viral however, and he was signed to a record label by the time he was eighteen. He was known to the public as Mac Mars.

Adulthood
His time with fame was fun and all but it was pretty brief compared to what it could be. He only did the rockstar thing for only 7 years before wanting out and to do other things. He was in the FBI academy as his own while Mac Mars was on a hiatus. Was really the only way he could get time with his music contract. He did great there especially on the brawn side and earned a major in Psychology and minor in Sociology. Around this time, Trevor had died of a drug overdose. The FBI took their shot then to kill Mac Mars so the contract in short would be terminated and Max could get what he deserved. They wrote a will for Mac Mars leaving everything to Max. He stayed with the FBI for a grand total of 15 years until being transferred over to NCIS. In which during that time he had been kidnapped twice, and earned an addiction to dilaudid. He struggled for a time to get clean of that but managed to do so he just can't take any hospitals painkillers now. The NCIS was a good switch since he feels he is not at much danger and isn't going out on crazy trips as often.

Caitlin suggested it for one, Fornell then referred him in noticing Max's desire to settle down a bit, Gibbs and director had a talk, and bam he's on the team

He's been there since before McGee but shortly after Caitlin

What they do
He's the team's psychologist. He mostly involved by telling if interviewees are lying or not telling all they know. He steps in for interrogation if Gibbs feels like they need a different approach. Also good in telling the mindset of the killer at certain crime scenes. He is also a good back up field agent. He's a good shot and he also can pull off a fake personality very very well. Good undercover.
