Apo's P.O.V:

The king's youngest sister was getting married so the entire kingdom was having a celebration.

I was carrying a huge wine barrel to the throne room as the other servants moved around like clockwork.

A servant walked over to me.

"His highness the prince wants you to go to his room" The servant said.

I nodded.

I put the wine barrel down on the floor of the throne room with the others then went to Mile's room.

"So why did you want me to come?" I asked.

"I want you to get some rest you've been working since dawn break" He said.

I raised an eyebrow.

"As a servant should" I said.

He sighed heavily and nodded.

"You're not a servant you're my friend" He said.

I sat down on the floor in front of him.

"Just get some rest no one will bother you here" He said.

"Why are you suddenly being all nice?" I asked.

It has been three years since I came to the palace and everything was taking a turn for the better.

I mean...It felt nice to settle in one place and call it home.

And it was nice to have a friend.

So I decided to do as I was told.

Mile sat down next to me.

"Close your eyes and sleep" He said.

I leaned my head to my knees and closed my eyes.

But Mile patted my shoulder causing me to look up confused.

"What?" I asked frowning.

"Your neck will hurt like that" He said.

"I'm not going to sleep on your bed" I said.

He sighed heavily and nodded then pulled my head to rest on his lap.

"Now get some sleep" He said.

I closed my eyes again and relaxed as he started patting my head.

Mile's P.O.V:

I started patting Apo's head lightly until he finally fell asleep.

I took a look at his face.

He was sixteen now so he was growing some face hair.

His brown hair was longer too.

I looked at his closed eyes then his lips which were parted slightly as he breathed.

In the three years he stayed here I can safely say that I know everything about him as much as he knows me better then myself.

I observed him closely throughout this time and we had so many memories together between laughter and tears.

He's a free spirit but he's not as fearless as he claims...

My mind went back to that time I overheard him talking to Bible three years ago about why he refused to be my guard.

He doesn't want to kill anyone.

It must be scary for him...Having such a gift.

If he loses control he'll kill everyone in his way.

I leaned closer to his face no longer able to hold back my growing feelings for him.

Then pressed my lips to his.

He stirred slightly so I moved away so I don't wake him up.

He relaxed again and went back to sleep.

I sighed heavily and nodded to myself then picked him up and placed him on my bed.

That brat...Already sixteen but sleeps like a baby.

I moved a strand of hair away from his face.

I walked over to the bookcase and picked a scroll then sat down on the floor and started reading it silently.

(Meanwhile)

Pete's P.O.V:

The king ordered me to go get the royal seal to stamp the wedding invitations for his sister.

I was on my way to get it but stopped walking when I heard a calm voice reading.

I walked over to the library and saw a boy sitting near the window reading a parchment.

He stopped reading and looked up at me.

I smiled awkwardly.

"Sorry to interrupt" I said.

He was wearing expensive looking clothes so I guessed that he must be a member of the royal family.

His clothes were loose and white coloured with a sash tied around his waist and a sword fastened to it.

"It's alright...What can I do for you?" He asked.

I was curious about what he was reading.

"What are you reading?" I asked.

He raised an eyebrow then chuckled and shook his head.

"That's a medical scroll to help reduce stomach pains" He said.

I've heard rumours about the kingdom's youngest and most talented doctor.

"You're Bible Wichapas" I said excitedly.

I felt that I met a really important figure.

His eyes widened at my sudden outburst then he smiled and nodded.

He had a calm looking yet childish smile.

"Yes...And what's your name?" He asked.

I pursed my lips into a thin line and looked at the floor then bowed politely when I realised that I didn't add honorific speech.

"I'm sorry for being rude your highness" I said in a small voice.

He walked closer to me and leaned his head in front of mine.

"It's alright...We just met...Besides...I asked for your name" He said.

"My name is Pete Phongsakorn Saengtham" I said in a small voice.

He was taller then me.

"So you're my cousin's guard? It's nice to finally meet you...I heard that you're really skilled with weapons" He said.

"As skilled as a guard should your highness" I said politely.

"No need to be so modest...I heard that you became the head guard within a year of your enlisted service" He said.

Then smiled and patted my shoulder.

This boy in front of me is the kingdom's second pride...Aside from prince Mile who showed great leadership skills and confidence when it came to courtly matters and war strategies...

This boy showed great knowledge in herbal medication and healing and was also the prince's advisor.

But I never thought he'd be that polite.

The girl servants in the palace adored him so I heard a lot of stories about him.

"You're so handsome" I said.

Then put my hand on my mouth immediately when I realised what I said.

Bible's P.O.V:

My eyes widened and I blinked twice when I heard what he said.

Then chuckled and shook my head.

"Well...Thank you" I said smiling.

He looked up and smiled awkwardly.

"Ummm...I'm supposed to go look for the royal seal...Sorry to interrupt you" He said.

Then started walking.

"The door is behind you" I said.

He turned to the door and chuckled awkwardly then left the room hurriedly.

I went back to reading my parchment.

(Later that night)

Apo's P.O.V:

I stirred awake and opened my eyes.

Then frowned in confusion when I realised that I wasn't sleeping on the floor like I should have but on a soft bed.

I sat up immediately and looked around.

I was still in Mile's room.

Mile was reading a scroll as he sat on the floor.

"How long have I been asleep?" I asked.

"It's night time now" Mile said.

I sighed heavily and facepalmed.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked.

He only shrugged.

Then stood up and walked over to me.

"I thought you could use some good sleep" He said.

Then reached out and started smoothing my hair.

"It has been three years since you came here...Do you like living here?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Sometimes I miss my village though...I wonder how my parents are doing...And my friends" I said.

"They don't deserve it Apo...They sold you as a slave...Such a family is unworthy" He said.

I sighed heavily and nodded.

"I still feel grateful for them...At least they didn't kill me like everyone in the village told them to" I said.

Then turned to him.

"Try growing up while constantly being told that you're a demon who should be killed" I said.

"Do you think you're a demon?" Mile asked.

I pursed my lips into a thin line and nodded.

"You've seen it once...When I get angry...I lose control over my magic...So yes...I'm a demon...If both my eyes turn black nothing will be able to stop me from destroying everything except death" I said.

"Why couldn't you tell me that back then?" He asked.

"You won't understand anyway so what's the point of telling you anything?" I asked.

Then stood up and made my way to the door.

"Hurting someone isn't what you're afraid of the most...It's the guilt that comes with knowing that you did it" He said.

Then walked over to me and put his hands on my shoulders then turned me to face him.

"Did I get it right?" He asked.

"I can't be your guard...Stop trying to convince me...I won't do it" I said as I shook my head.

He smiled and nodded causing me to frown in confusion.

"I don't want you to be my guard Apo...I just want you to stay by my side forever" He said.

Then pressed his lips to mine.

I put my hands on his cheeks and started kissing him back.
