TWENTY-ONE

- Chapter Twenty-One -
"They're memories, stored away by a certain person."

"Why on earth did you do that?" Remus said to Elladora when they left Care of Magical Creatures, he still had a small smile on his face. Sirius, Peter and James all crowded them too, eager to hear her answer.

"I don't know, why did you throw your books on the floor?" She retorted, trying to look away from the stares and mutters she was getting from other students, it unnerved her slightly.

"Well, we had this pact that when someone knows they're going to get detention and they act on it, the others have to do it too." Peter explained and she nodded along with furrowed eyebrows, if they did that then why didn't they all come to that one detention with Sirius and Elladora.

"That settles it then, I'm in on the pact." She said. "Now, Remus, let's go get your potion."

Elladora led Remus down different corridors, leaving the rest of the marauders behind. She turned another corner and Remus saw that they were heading to Professor Dumbledores office. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and opened his mouth to speak or at least ask her a question, but one of her warning glares shut him up before a sound could come out.

"Fizzing Whizbees." She said loud and clear to a Griffin that stood proudly in front of them, the stone statue spun slightly to reveal a set of stone stairs that granted them passage. Remus had only ever been in Dumbledore's office twice, the Griffin still amazed him. However, Elladora seemed rather bored by the movement, as though she does this daily.

Their shoes smacked against the hard concrete as they walked with purpose up to the office. Where, unbeknownst to Remus, their headmaster was waiting for them with the purple potion. The large wooden door stood in front of them, shut tightly as they stared at it for a moment.

"Should we knock?" Remus asked, but his question was answered when Elladora did not knock, but instead barged right into the office, wrapping her hand around the handle and heaving open the entryway. "Dora!" He whisper-shouted, alarmed that she had just walked straight into the office. Nevertheless, he followed hastily, looking around.

"Ah, Miss Hargreaves, Mr. Lupin, I've been wondering when you would be coming." Dumbledore said from his desk and both of them looked up to see him smiling down at them in all of his glowing glory. "I'll be right back." He walked further into his office, presumably to get the potion that Elladora had asked him to store safely until the beginning of the moon cycle.

Remus pursed his lips and stared around at the office, taking in all the odd artefacts and shiny sculptures. "What do you reckon these are?" He asked the girl, pointing to a cabinet filled with small glass flasks.

"They're memories, stored away by a certain person." She answered, walking over to stand next to him. "A couple of them are mine, the other week I came up here and Dumbledore asked me whether or not I wanted to store some memories. I said yes."

"How do you look at them?" He asked inquisitively and Elladora pointed to a round, sink thing across the room, it was filled to the brim with water, yet it never spilled over the edge.

Then she took a deep breath and turned back to the cabinet, her eyes skimmed a couple of the flask before she picked one out. Remus followed her as she walked to the pensieve. The lid of the flask came of easily and he watched as she tipped it upside down. A thin liquid drooped out of it and sunk into the water in the pensieve.

Elladora gestured for Remus to look at it, so he did, he peered at the water and saw nothing, so the girl rolled her eyes and pushed his head down so he was submerged in the water.

Remus felt like he was falling, and he was, the light turned into dark and then he landed with a thud on the cold metal surface of the astronomy tower. Completely freaked out, he looked around wildly, but only saw one person. It was a girl, clutching the pillar of the astronomy tower with a foot off of the banister.

"Stop!" He shouted at the same time as someone else, Remus turned to see that the other person who said that was...him. He was staring at another version of himself, but it didn't seem to notice him and continued to slowly approach the girl.

Go away!" She screamed, still facing the night sky. "Go away!"

"Just...just stop, please come down it's not worth it." The Remus that wasn't watching the scene said.

"It is worth it! I'm saving your stupid life." She cried, more and more hot tears going down her cheeks. The real Remus watched as his past self edged closer with his hand starting to outstretch.

"Come on, trust me, it's not worth it."

"How can I trust you? I don't even know you." She croaked, loosening her grip around the pillar slightly as she stared at the him.

"Uh, okay then." He replied shakily, obvious thinking hard about something. "My name is Remus John Lupin, I was born on the 10th of March 1960, I'm a half-blood, my wand is made out of cypress wood, unicorn hair and it's 10 and a quarter inches. And I'm a..." Memory Remus hesitated for a moment. "I'm a werewolf."

"I know." She sniffed. "Why else would you get sick every full moon? And why else would the others turn themselves into Animagi unless they needed to help you with your monthly transformations?"

"Oh- so, you know...about that, okay then." He stammered. "So, now you know me. All you need to do, is take my hand."

"Why?"

"Because I don't want you to give up, there's so much left for you. So much, that you will accomplish, I promise."

"There's nothing left for me." She shook her head, some strands of her hair sticking to her forehead due to the nervous sweat.

"I disagree."

His hand was stretched out for her. She did indeed take memory Remus Lupin's hand, reluctantly, may she add. He watched carefully as she let go of the pillar beside her and dropped her feet onto the ground, stumbling back into him. Memory Remus carefully grasped her arms and pulled her back from the edge slowly.

Now, this next move was something that she would never have done if she hadn't just nearly died. She turned around and wrapped her arms around the boy, successfully taking him aback, but he slowly returned the embrace.

Real Remus watched with sad eyes as he remembered that moment, the start of their friendship. Then it all faded away and he brought his head out of the water, gasping as he turned to the girl next to him.

"I stored that memory here, just in case anybody is going through the same thing and want to do that, then I hope Dumbledore will see and show them that memory, so that they know that friendship and happiness can be found all around." She said, barely above a whisper whilst she stared down at the pensieve. "In even the darkest of times, like this one." Another flask was shown to Remus and the contents were once again poured into the water.

Remus lowered his head and was sucked into the pensieve, landing on the astronomy tower again, but instead of seeing Elladora on the ledge, he saw her curled up with James, leaning against one of the planets.

The boy nodded at something that she must have said before and held her tightly as she cried. He was a bit hesitant, but the way she held onto him and cried without feeling judged, reassured him. Remus watched the embrace, he hated seeing her like this, they had done so much together and she was seemingly more out of her shell or more comfortable now. They just needed that smile.

More footsteps echoed up the staircase and both Real Remus and James turned to see the other three friends, one of them being another Memory Remus, making their way up and looking for them. Elladora's soft cries gave them away as they all turned to see their hug once again.

Sirius was the first to come and sit on the other side of Elladora, placing a hand on her knee as he leaned back against the planet, shortly followed by Peter next to him and Memory Remus next to James. Memory Remus looked down at the crying girl under James' arm and smiled at her. She returned his gaze, but not his smile. And once again, her eyebrow twitched.

Real Remus smiled softly at the five of them before he was dragged back up to the real world. "I'm glad that you trust us, Dora." He smiled and her eyebrow twitched once again whilst she nodded and made her way over to the cabinet, putting the memories back that had somehow come back in the flasks.

"I'm glad, too." She said.

Dumbledore came strolling back around the corner with a cauldron that had purple and blue steam smoking out of the top of it. He had a beaming smile on his face as Elladora shut the cabinet and made her way over.

"Once a day." He reminded and she nodded, gesturing for Remus to follow her as they marched out of the office.

They walked in comfortable silence as she led the way to the uninhabited girls lavatory, where Moaning Myrtle was sure to make an appearance. Sure enough, the ghost came straight away.

"Hello again." She giggled as the girl who had the cauldron clutched tightly in her hands, lowered it down onto the floor safely, the coloured steam still rising off of the surface. "Who's this?" She floated closer to Remus with a flirtatious smile and giggle.

The boy looked like a deer caught in headlights as he answered. "Remus Lupin." He said and quickly walked to Elladora, sitting down next to her. She took a small goblet out of the inside pockets of her robe and used a ladle, that was already in the potion, to pour some of the purple, steaming liquid in the cup.

"Fair warning," She said as she handed it to him. "It tastes like goblin piss."

Remus took it rather hesitantly and looked at her for reassurance, she gave him a nod and he took that as his cue to gulp down the goblet, all in one. He nearly spit it all out, due to the disgusting flavour it left on his tastebuds, but he knew he had to swallow it all, so he did but then gagged straight afterwards.

"Well, I told you." She snatched the goblet from him and washed it out under the sink. Whilst Remus was still trying to gulp or gag the taste away, Elladora picked up the cauldron and walked to an empty cubicle with it. She entered the bathroom and placed it down on the floor. She shut the door and locked it for safe keeping and Remus was rather confused as to why she had locked herself in there with it, until he saw a pair of hands grip the wall that led to the next cubicle and then he watched as she climbed over the wall and landed with bent knees.

"Right." She muttered, brushing herself off. "I suppose we should get down to the library to meet the boys then?"

"Yeah." Remus answered, suspiciously staring at the bottom of the cauldron that you could see a sliver of from the gap underneath the foor of the cubicle, but he followed her out nonetheless.

As they were walking down the corridor, now filled with students, a harsh body bumped Elladora's shoulder and it was none other than Regulus Black, Sirius' little fifth-year brother. "Sorry." He said and stared at the girl for a moment before slipping past her.

Elladora doesn't miss a trick that easily, so as she watched Regulus stroll down the rest of the hallway, glancing back, she reached into her pocket and felt that a piece of parchment had indeed been dropped in there. Her gaze remained on Regulus' retreating figure whilst she wondered what on earth he would pass her a note for.

"Dora." Remus got her attention and she looked at him. "You okay?"  He asked, she reassured him quickly and they were on their way to find their friends.

A/N: this is another filler because I didn't want to do a massive time skip, there might be a lot of fillers throughout the book because i don't want to do massive time skips, for example, Christmas to March, for James' birthday, so yeah, but if you have any headcanons or fun things you want me to put in the book, just comment and then I will!
Thank you xx
