FORTY-SEVEN
- Chapter Forty-Seven -
"Revenge is a dish best served cold."
Sirius Black expected to wake up just how he went to sleep, curtains around his bed closed, hair tied up behind his head to keep it out of his face when he's sleeping, shirt off and sweatpants on. He expected to be spread haphazardly across his bed since he moved around a lot in his sleep. He was waiting for one of his friends to wake him up because he always blocked the sun out with closing his curtains. He expected his normal morning.
That's not what he got.
The tantalizing rays of the March sun shone through the windows of the sixth-year boys Gryffindor dorm room. Birds, such as Robins or Hummingbirds, occasionally flew past the window, their wings flexed out wide to their sides as they glided freely across the sky. Sirius longed to stop the sun from shining right into his face and instead stuff his face back inside his pillow, ready to fall freely back into a long sleep. He lifted an arm up lazily in the direction of the window, groaning as the sunlight pierced his grey eyes.
It was then that he realised he was sleeping normally instead of being sprawled across the crimson bed covers. It was also then that he realised his curtains were pulled open when he swore that he shut them last night. His body froze, he half expected for there to be some sort of murdered at the bottom of his bed, holding a knife and ready to murder him, but the other half knew that that was irrational especially since Hogwarts is one of the safest places in the wizarding world.
His eyes opened, slow with anticipation as he turned his head at the same speed. What he saw was not was he had been expecting. He truthfully didn't actually know what to think of it, of course there was no knife murderer but what lay before him might be argued as an equivalent.
Everything was covered with glitter.
An assortment of small, reflective particles that came in a variety of shapes and colours reflected light at different angles around the room, causing the surface to sparkle and shimmer. It was all over the place, on the floor and piled up to the bottom of the beds so it didn't actually go on their covers but the boys would have to wade their way through them. It sat on top of the desk, though their homework books seemed to be placed carefully on top of the glitter so they didn't get ruined.
Everything was just so sparkly.
"Little minx." Sirius narrowed his eyes at his surroundings, the bright shine was almost nauseating. He knew exactly who had done this, considering it was the exact same prank that they had been the most angry about and the books had been saved from the travesty, making it considerably easy to figure out who had filled their dorm with glitter.
Elladora Hargreaves. Sirius scoffed to himself in amusement with a smile on his face as he pursed his lips and looked around at the mess. He was impressed to say the least, it seemed that none of the other boys were even awake yet so she wouldn't have been seen by any of them at all. He always knew that she was too stealthy for her own good but he never thought that she would use it against him.
"What the hell?"
Sirius looked to towards the bed next to him to see James, sat up and looking around the room, his face hidden from view of his best friend. He burst out laughing when James turned his face towards him, it was coated in white, with two red circles around his eyes and his nose, red over his lips too. Then he realised he wasn't the only one laughing, James was laughing too, pointing at him.
"Dude, your face!" He cackled, careful not to fall out of bed and into the large pile of glitter.
Sirius furrowed his eyebrows and brought a hand up to his face, feeling something on it. He wiped his hand on his face before bringing it in front of him and seeing some white on his hand. Remus was up now, confused having to endure James' cackling at all three boys. He obviously didn't realise that he had some on his face too.
"James!" Peter yelled when the boy would not stop laughing. James abruptly stopped, but still had lazy chuckles leaving his lips as he faced Peter. "You look the same!" He said and his smile dropped, his hand coming up to his cheek.
"Elladora." They all said at the same time with a sigh.
"Bloody hell." Remus laughed and swung his legs over the side of the bed, standing in the glitter. "She did all this?" He looked around and smiled softly at the books on top of the glitter, safe from the sparkle.
"I knew she would get back at-" Peter started to say, also getting out of his bed, but as soon as he tried to take a step, he fell forward and disappeared with a small thud into the pile of glitter.
The three others froze as their friend fell. Sirius was the first to burst out into laughter, then James and lastly Remus. It looked as though the glitter had pulled him under as there was no rustling or sound coming out from underneath the large pile. He just disappeared.
Then, a couple of seconds later, a hand came out out of the pile, grasping at the air which made Sirius collapse into laughs, rolling off of his own bed and into the pile of glitter with a thud, disappearing just as Peter had done. James chuckled and helped Remus pull Peter out, his painted face now had glitter stuck to it, making him look even more sparkly. Sirius managed to make his own way out, also covered in glitter.
"It's like an endless, glittery abyss down there." He said and Peter nodded, trying to wipe the glitter off of him. "Okay, let's get down to breakfast and see the angel."
"More like the devil." Remus muttered, trying to make his way through the glitter.
"Our uniforms are under our beds." James sighed, looking down at the pile. "There's no way we'll be able to get them."
"We can just borrow some from the seventh-years." Sirius shrugged, stomping his way through the glitter and over to the door. "Sure they'll let us borrow some." He pulled open the door and immediately felt himself being coated with something.
A thick slime sort of thing went drooping in front of his face and down his back from the top of his head as the rest of the boys watched with their mouth agape. The slime dripped down his pyjama clad body and onto the wooden floor below him whilst he stood still, feeling it on his face but not daring to open his eyes.
It was silent for a moment before he turned slowly to the boys in the room.
"Shes good." He said in a hoarse whisper like it was painful to admit it. "Shes good."

Elladora stood pacing outside of the great hall, a stupid grin on her face as she waited for the boys to come around the corner. She expected that it would take longer since they would try and wash the face paint off, which wouldn't be possible, and whoever exited the dorm first would have to shower straight away.
She was rather proud of herself, giddy and excited to see how shiny they would be today. Most of her night had been spent up in their dorm, carefully creeping around to paint their faces. Remus nearly woke up, but once she had whispered for him to go back to sleep, he did so which had her impressed with herself. Sirius was the hard one, he had his curtains drawn and was spread haphazardly across his bed.
Elladora had to slowly open them and use magic to turn him over on his side without waking him. James and Peter were easy, she was done with them in mere seconds. Then she collected the open books that were on the desk and waved her wand a couple of times, emptying the large packets of glitter into the dorm. It was hard work, but it was worth it.
They did it to her first. She may have done a tad bit more but it was funny, you had to admit.
"Dora!" A voice exclaimed from down the corridor and she turned to see Peter with shiny specks in his hair, glittering from the sunlight. Remus with glitter on his hands, that he must not have noticed. James had glitter on his pants and Sirius had it all over his jumper. All of them had face paint on.
Her smile grew bigger as they approached, looking both angry and amused. A laugh left her lips and she brought a hand up to her mouth, laughing softly before turning around and walking into the Great Hall, leaving them to follow.
She marched in with her head held high whilst biting her lip as she got closer to the Gryffindor table, Lily Evans narrowing her eyes in confusion as the girl swept past her quickly and sat a certain spot. After the kiss that Lily and James had shared in Hogsmeade, they had talked it over and hadn't decided to go out yet because Lily was taking some time to getting used to liking the boy who had annoyed her for the past six years, but everyone suspected that it wouldn't be long before they got together for real.
Laughter made Lily turn her head away from Elladora and back to the doors of the Great Hall as 4 boys came through, face painted and sparkly. They all looked around meekly before making their way over to Elladora as she sat casually at the table.
"I applaud you." Remus was the first one to talk as they approached. She turned with a small smile as they all sat around her. "Impressive. Especially the dumping of the slime on Sirius."
"It could've been any of you." She shrugged with a small laugh before looking across to Sirius who sat opposite her. "Sorry, Sirius, it was too good of an opportunity."
"It was cold." He grumbled.
"Well, revenge is a dish best served cold." She retorted as the boys got their own breakfast, hers placed in front of her, untouched. "You guys did it to me first."
"Yeah, we did. True." Peter nodded before running a hand through his hair, some specks of glitter falling onto the table as Elladora laughed once more.
"Just drink your juice." She narrowed their eyes at all of them, keeping her smirk down as they all grabbed their goblets and lifted them up to their lips.
"Wait a minute." Remus frowned as he didn't drink, but the others did.
Elladora watched with a smile as Peter's hair turned bright green, Sirius' turned blue and James' turned yellow. Remus' jaw dropped and she glanced at her before they both burst into laughter, having to grip onto each other as the others were looking clueless.
"What?" James asked, furrowing his eyebrows. He pulled a face and turned back to his other friends, about to talk when he saw their hair.
They looked at his before looking at each other before Sirius grasped his locks of hair and let out a girlish shriek that drew attention and consequently more laughs.
"It's hard being the coolest friend," She started, grabbing her bag from under the table. "But somebody's gotta do it." She shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the hall, silently praising herself in her head for the cool line she just delivered.
She truthfully had nowhere to go, but after that badass exit there was no way she was going back in there. Instead, she just let a smile grow on her face as she stopped around the corner.
"Nice to see someone giving them what they deserve."
She turned her head to see Snape stood there alone, looking at her. Out of instinct, she looked behind him to see if the others were there, only to see an empty corridor.
"That was banter," She told him. "If they deserve that then I'd hate to be there when karma comes your way." Her eyes narrowed into a glare as she walked away from him too.
Oh yeah, she was a badass.
