Description: Guang gets worried as Leo avoids him all evening
---------------------------------------
My eyes glared down at my phone as I called the familiar number. Yet again, it went straight to his voicemail. I clenched my fist and darted my eye on my call history. 27 call from Leo which none he had answered. "Where he could he be that he won't answer the darn phone?" I growled to myself. My head turned up. I felt isolated in the city's park. The delightful sounds of laughter, the smell of hotdogs, the sight of sweat, and the feeling of me sitting on the bench vanished. I felt lonely in a sea of strangers roaming around me. I was stuck in a foreign place that Leo knew from the inside out. But he wasn't by my side today. He wasn't whispering sweet words into my ears, petting my caramel hair nor was he kissing my forehead as he normally did. Leo de la Iglesia wasn't next to me as promised earlier.
Despite it being unsanitized, my palm reached the empty seat beside me. I imagined the American boy daringly flirting with me. Then I would giggle, which that would lead us to kiss. Placing my hand down on my lap I frowned. My hallucinations were destroying my empty soul. All I wanted to know is where Leo was.
Furiously showing my phone down in my pockets, I stormed out of the bench. I didn't know where my legs took me but my stomach begged for food. Therefore, I asked an order of hot dogs and a soda. As I munched on my food, I observed the children playing in the playground from afar. The sound of laughter invited me for peace as I slowly cured my pain from earlier. I wrapped my hands around my icy refreshment. Flicking the top off with my thumb, I chugged the soda down my throat. I ceased drinking and continued nibbling on my hotdog.
It was strange for Leo to leave me by myself, though. It wasn't him. I kept convincing myself that he left for an emergency, yet again it's been 2 hours since I've been stranded.
Following the familiar path, I walked back to Leo's house. Yet, I still had hope as I carried my phone on the bridge of my fingertips. I felt the wind kiss my cheek then through it swept my the softness of my hair. Street sounds invaded my ears, they were soft honking. Strangers with passed by me as well as buildings. I was a quiet peaceful walk. But I cursed at myself once I thought the lack of messages of Leo updating me on what's going on. I was already pissed off, so I just brushed it off.
I buried my phone back to my pockets and went for the handle of the apartment. Swinging it open I greeted the elderly couple from upstairs. They waved back. My legs carried me to the door that peeled from white paint. I curled my knuckles, knocking on the faint wood. After a few attempts, no one answered. I decided to twist the knob and walk in, which worked. I walked in Leo's apartment and locked it once in. Weird, Leo never unlocks his door.
Sauntering over the kitchen, I looked for his appearance. He wasn't in the living room, kitchen, bathroom or his room. Glaring back at my phone, I saw the lack of notifications from the Mexican-American. The time displayed as 5:17 PM on the screen. I turned it off and left in on the kitchen counter.
I might as take a nap without Leo. It'll feel weird, but since he wasn't here I had no choice. I walked at the entrance of his room. I jumped on his bed making the blankets bounce. I slipped off my slippers and snuggled under the sheets. My eyes began heavy as my worries flew off my shoulders. The bed smelled like him. I smiled and dozed off.
-Later-
"Guang, Guang." I heard a faint voice. Someone's hand seemed to be tugging my sides making me giggle softly. Then its hands shifted towards my shoulder, shaking me. I cracked open an eye. My vision blurred a tanned face with dark brown bangs. I rubbing my eyes, I squinted back to focus. Then I smiled. "Leo," I whispered. I used my elbow to lift me up from my slumber. My back stood on the metal bars of the bed. The American adult scooted closer as he brought up to things in each hand. In his left, he had a box brilliantly wrapped in pink glossy paper tied with a bow. On the right, he had round cake coated in blue frosting. The top spelled out "Happy Birthday Guang" in Mandarin. I thought of the consideration and effort on these two things.
My eyes observed the brown hue of his eyes. "Happy Birthday, baby." He murmurs, closing the gap between our lips. I feel his mouth roaming around my, but briefly. He knows how I feel of kissing for a long period of time.
Leo hands me my gift. My hands stretch out for my present. I dig my nails of the paper. With two pulls, I reveal what's inside. It was small I Love You teddy bear. My thumb brushed through the fluff of the bear as I smile. "Another teddy bear added to my collection." I chuckle. My head turns to Leo, which now the cake is on his lap. "Is this why you were gone?" I asked. "Sorry baby, I wanted to buy a present you would enjoy and a special cake for you to eat. Besides, I'm surprised that you forgot your 18th birthday!" He exclaims. My hand rests of his palms. "Oh I didn't forget, I knew it was my birthday. It's that we don't celebrate birthdays that often in China. We celebrate those who are young and the elderly. I just got used to tradition." My hands take the small bear on the palms of my hand. I carry it with my fingers. "But this is truly a thoughtful present. Thank you." Leaning forward, my lips touch his forehead.
"Let's go eat this yummy cake you bought me."~
