June blossomed, making its way to the school year. The month that every student has waited since the start of school. Being an exchange student from China, I've gained knowledge and a custom to the American Highschool traditions. One of them being the most anticipated event called Prom. From what I have heard, it's a day dedicated to dance and have fun all in one. A special event like this had encourage everyone to join since we're seniors leaving for college.
Alongside Prom, comes these Prom proposals. I have witnessed majority of this popular custom for seniors to invite their dates to prom in a creative way. Most in which the couple begins crying while nodding their heads. I've secretly been taking notes how each male prepares their proposal. It's either with soothing music to ease with the male's soft voice saying, "Do you want to go to Prom with me?" Or it's a paper hidden between the reaches of a food. However, these schemes didn't encourage me. For someone had to gain the attention and help of others, erase all stress, and mean it sentimental in order to make the magic work. I didn't have any of that.
Fear stricken every time I observed my crush, catious if anyone asked him out. Fortunately, not yet. I had to pull myself up to ask him out with one of these Prom proposals but how? He seems like the most easiest target to fall for. He has the most softest smile that creates his lips shiny as well as kissable. His hair has a god like structure which I would die for. Finally, his personality was unique from the rest. For he was the first to talk to me. I knew I was in love by then.
Lunch became a perfect place for proposals. It caught everyone's attetion in awe. It seemed perfect until one male began confronting to his girlfriend which stopped me from asking my crush. He sat across from me. His eyes sparkled at the sight of the man asking the women out. His fascination reached out to me, telling myself "Is that how he'll react if I told him?"
After the cafeteria died of cuteness from the couple, I couldn't seem to stop starring at him. My thumbs were fidgeting under the table as I bit my inner cheek. Then I finnally leaned in whispering, "Leo can you follow me?"
Tagging alongside with me, we went to the bathroom where no one was able to see us. His perfect structured eyebrows folded. "What happened Guang?" I began to stroll back and forth from the bathroom. He noticed my discomfort. "Guang!" Leo's firm hands grabbed my shoulders. I was starled at his touch. "Are you ok?" He asked.
"Actually Leo," I stared at the floor. "Would you umm..." I bit my lip forcing the words out. "Would you like to go to prom with me?" My head looked up. "I know I wasn't fancy enough to ask you like other people have! I really wanted to plan a nice feast for you and hide some paper and then ask you out." I hastily blurted. "I really did wanted to but I never have the courage to I was too afra-"
"Yes."
My eyes shifted at his face. "What?" My eyes opened wide enough to pop them out.
"I said yes." He smiled. "I'll love to go to prom with you." His hands left my shoulders.
"As in a date? Boyfriends?"
"Yeah."
My jaw became loose. "Are you sure you don't have to. I mean-"
"Guang you're so fluttered!" He chuckled. "I'll go with you as your date, boyfriend, or anything you want me to."
"Th-Thanks." My awkward mouth spoke~
