Chapter 13:: His Princess
Author's POV:
You gulped as the maids were helping you dress up while the professional makeup artist assigned for your bridal makeup was fixing her things.
You looked at the full-length mirror in front of you, watching the maids fix your fancy gown. You sighed, fear rushing in your veins. Today was strange, after returning to the palace, you were now getting ready for another wedding.
But actually, here you'd only be dressing well and eating, clicking pictures with all the political and social influencers who had joined.
Your palms were sweating. Even in the air conditioner, you felt hot. The sweat trickled down your temple.
"Oh, oh... why's the lady sweating?" You heard the makeup artist and gulped awkwardly. She smiled, "Princess, it'll be good, hopefully. I do the makeup for royals of almost every country. I'm sure... this wedding will be fine. I'll make you look like a fairy the Prince would be dying over."
You looked at her and wondered how she was so confident. A small smile appeared on your face as you hummed.
———
"Hyung. Why are you biting your nails?" Jungkook asked, drinking his banana milk as Taehyung sighed, "I'm not."
"You are... are you nervous?"
"No."
"You are."
"Shut up." Taehyung glared at Jungkook who shrugged, "It's okay. Do you realize you're already married and this is just a show? Like... all you have to do here is dance. Why worry?"
"I..." Taehyung looked down, "I feel strange.."
"Hyung. You know, at the wedding... you looked worse than Y/N's best friend did."
"What?" Taehyung frowned.
"She was crying but you... you had this look on your face I'd never seen before. You care about her, don't you?"
"What do you mean?" The elder one had a panic stricken face as Jungkook smiled, "Nothing. Just... keep her close. She's the one I see it."
"Koo-" Taehyung was about to talk but Jungkook left the room with a wink. He looked at the mirror, noticing how handsome he looked. But Jungkook's words roamed in his head, confusing him.

The Queen had gifted you a tiara. She said it was passed down to the first daughter-in-law of the royal family.
You wore it. A beautiful diamond tiara.
"You look like a Queen, my dear." The Queen had said as you smiled a little, your heart almost bursting. This woman in front of you was the real Queen, you knew it. The only Queen who deserved everything.
You saw the guests downstairs. They all were chatting, drinks and wine in their hands. You looked behind you to see the maids, dressed in beautiful attires, follow you.
They held the back of your dress.
"The Prince is waiting downstairs, Princess." You gulped, feeling your hands shake. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and remembered what Taehyung had said once,
'If you're nervous to come in front of the public, close your eyes, take a deep breath and know that I'm here waiting. At least you know me personally. I can glare at the public for you.'
You smiled a little, slowly taking steps down the grand stairs, turning a few heads. Whispers and murmurs were heard as you walked down, towards the venue. People gasped, some complimented and some talked. Your tiara shone brighter than any light in the room, your eyes sparkling with the beautiful eyeshadow. Your blush had made you look adorable and your light lipstick added some more beauty to the already throbbing look you had.
You gracefully walked inside. Everyone was inside, smiling. Taehyung was waiting for you at the entrance, you both would walk towards the aisle together.
You almost gasped when you noticed him. His hair was permed again, a white tuxedo on him. The watch on his wrist shone bright and his eyes glazed with intimidating ice.
You both locked eyes and for a moment, you wanted to jump into his arms. The urge was sudden and questionable but it was just how it was.
Unknowingly, he took a step towards you, his hands' fisting. He looked at you, taking in everything in his view yet it wasn't enough.
He could stare at you for years in this very moment and it wouldn't be enough to take in all of you.
You stopped in front of him, taking a deep breath. He didn't speak, just looked at you, his eyes softening. His lips parted but no words escaped.
Your parents were looking at you both from inside the venue, crying. Mina was standing there, clicking pictures of you with a heartwarming smile and Jungkook was taking care of the guests, making sure everything was in order. The King and the Queen were standing nearby, talking to some political officials.
Taehyung forwarded his hand as you stared at it. A thought occurred to you. He was your husband now. You both were married.
And everything felt surreal for a moment. You placed your hands on him, feeling his grip tighten. He looked at you once more, blinking in reassurance.
He placed a soft kiss on your knuckles making the area tingle a little. He turned around with you, entangling your arms together. You looked up at him as he stared back at you, "I'm here."
You both slowly walked down the aisle, reaching the stage as the guests were all staring at you both. Soft music played in the background as you stood in front of him.
"Everyone clap for the Prince and the Princess!" The host spoke as everyone started clapping, the cameramen clicking pictures. You looked at Taehyung who had a face that meant 'I'm so close to smiling.' but he didn't smile. You looked away, gulping.
The cameramen asked you both to pose. Taehyung pulled you closer, letting your tiara come in contact with his lips. He turned his head a little, controlling his smile when he noticed the tiara. This was the family heritage. And you had it.
Seeing this on your head made him wonder why he was so proud. You were now a princess. His princess.
After a few clicking pictures, Taehyung stared at you when the cameraman turned around. He walked closer, making you frown.
"They're not clicking pictures.."
"I know that, princess." He spoke and your eyes widened a little. Princess, he called you. You looked at him in disbelief as he whispered, "That's your title from now on. You should get used to it."
You looked down, feeling a little strange.
He held your hand and asked, "Do you know about the articles online?"
"What articles?"
"Articles said that we don't show enough affection. Some think we're forced into this."
"What? That's quite controversial." Seeing the worry on your face, he held your hand tighter, leaning closer as you faced him.
"So, we have to pretend."
"Pretend?"
"To be so in love... and all." His cheeks softly brushed against yours making you gulp. You squirmed a little as he backed away, looking at the public.
"Like this."
You stared at the floor in pure shock until you were called. You both took blessings from the King and the Queen, your parents, and all relatives and greeted the guests. The dinner would be served soon but before that, the royal ball would take place.
A dance for which you were NOT prepared.
You gulped, looking at Taehyung, "I don't think I'm very good at this dance."
"You never learned?"
"I did but... I kinda suck at it. You have to guide me throughout the dance."
He hummed, looking at the people.
"I wonder who Mina would dance with..."
Mina was roaming around without a partner until a guy asked her to. She rejected him swiftly and wandered around some more, eating occasionally.
"Ah... who do I dance with?" She heard a familiar voice near her and looked behind to see Jungkook. Sighing, she spoke, "Excuse me."
He moved away a little, raising a brow as she took a biscuit from there.
"No partner?" She asked. Jungkook hummed.
"There are plenty of girls there. You can roam around some time, they'll probably follow you around." Mina's idea seemed logical but Jungkook disagreed.
"They are only here for the fame being with the prince brings them. They aren't truly interested in dancing with me. I'd rather be alone than go with such suckers." Mina chuckled at Jungkook's statement, making him frown.
"What's so funny?"
"Not funny, rather... impressive. I thought you royals liked this fake attention?"
"Some do, it's true. But for me and Hyung, I especially hate it. Hyung hates it more... though."
"Good for me. I hate guys who like attention. Y/N would have to go through jealousy syndromes a lot."
"Y/N gets jealous?" Jungkook asked as Mina smirked, "She's the queen of jealousy. If she's jealous, she'll probably dig you 6 feet under the ground. But I've never seen her jealous. She never really dated before. But back then, if she was jealous of her parents giving more gifts to her cousins, she'd cause a fuss."
"She seemed comparatively calm.." Jungkook said, quite in surprise. Mina smiled, "She is calm now. She was a tornado once. A very... loud tornado."
Mina sighed, shaking her head.
"Anyway. Go find a partner. Will you? Let me eat in peace."
"When did I bother you anyway?" Jungkook frowned. Mina continued eating a doughnut as Jungkook asked, "You've got a partner?"
"Nope."
"Then should we dance together? You don't have a partner neither do I. Don't take it another way, though."
"Another way? Do you think I'm dumb? And no, I don't want to dance with you." Mina walked away, leaving a frowning Jungkook.
"Does she think I just asked her out? Weird. I only suggested it because we're both alone." Jungkook scoffed, eating a doughnut himself.
———
"Let the ball dance begin!"
Everyone joined their partners in the dance. 'Until I found you' had started and everyone was already dancing on the floor. Young adults, teenagers and old couples were all on the whim. One of your hands was intertwined with Taehyung's while another one rested on his shoulder. His other one rested on your waist, tightening his hold with time. He swirled you around once and pulled you even closer, making you gasp.
You looked at him, his deep browns staring right into yours. His scent engulfed you and the warmth radiating from his body omitted the cool air of the Air conditioner of the venue. You felt him all around you, wrapping you in his warmth.
You both went far from each other, your partners changing as you were dancing with your dad now. You smiled at him as he said, "You look like a princess tonight."
"I am a princess now, father."
He looked down, placing a soft kiss on your forehead before swirling you as your partners changed again. Taehyung stood in front of you, "Your mother dances just like you."
"Got it from her, I guess." You smiled. You didn't expect him to smile but he smiled back, letting himself lean closer to you.
You felt as if he was burying his smile closer to you, hiding him from the rest of the world. Only you could see his smile. He turned you around, as you sighed, "This dress is heavy."
"They took out the extra cloth. It's still heavy?"
"A lot." You said but looked up when the song 'Perfect- Ed Sheeran' started playing. You could feel your heart beating even more rapidly than before. Because this song had a special place in your heart. And this moment was special.
Taehyung's lips hovered over your forehead for some time as he backed away, dancing. He guided you tot he steps, taking control until you got the hint. You smiled when you were able to dance properly. It was time to switch partners but Taehyung didn't let you go this time.
You looked at him confused, "The next one's not your father."
You turned around to see a cousin of Taehyung's. He looked at you and said, "You're my partner."
"You sound strange."
He didn't reply, just continued dancing until the main part was there. The lights were soon off and this was the part you knew where everything started. Under the dim light of the outside, you could see his eyes shining brightly. You felt your lips tremble a little when you looked at his. You wanted those lips on yours.
But this want was confusing. According to the dance, he picked you up and turned around, placing you down, not breaking eye contact. You stared at him, asking, "Are you happy that we're married?"
He frowned a little, not replying. You gulped, "You're not?"
He turned you around for the last time in the dance, leaning in close to your face, as close as he was allowed to get and whispered, "If I ever had the choice to marry someone I know, I think it'd be you."
You smiled, "It's not because I'm the only woman who you talked to properly?"
He rested his forehead on yours, chuckling a little.
You almost gasped. His chuckle was so deep and beautiful. Just like his drowning beauty, his chuckle was lusciously attractive and captivating. You felt your heart beating so loud, it muted any noise coming from the outer world. Right now, it was just you and him.
And as he didn't move away, you inched a little closer to him making your lips centimetres away from one another's. Your noses touched as he looked at you inching even closer. You felt his lips touch yours. It touched yours. So lightly.
Just like a featherlight touch of the clouds, his lips hovered on yours.
But before they could mould with yours, the light was turned on and he backed away. You turned your head to see the cameras pointed towards you both. So, this moment right now was clicked in a picture.
Was that why he almost kissed you just now?
