chapter six
The entire next day was awkward. As Harry had refused to wank off, knowing that Malfoy knew about his problem, he went to bed highly uncomfortable. He didn't give himself any sort of relief until he made it into the shower the next morning, to which he had grown fully hard by then, and just about cursed himself for having the hormones of a teenage boy.
As the whole family sat around the table at breakfast, James cleared his throat, eyes focusing anywhere but on his eldest son.
"So, anyone have any ideas on what to do today?" He prompted, and was met only by the sounds of metal spoons hitting cereal bowls, or the crunch of toast. After a bit, Harry rose his hand, to which his father rolled his eyes.
"What, Harry?" He asked, voice highly annoyed.
"I did a bit of research on my phone of what's here, and there's this great outdoor-type shopping complex called the Commons. It's got different clothing stores, coffee shops, Wholefoods, and interesting places we could go for lunch like Johnny Rockets or something." The green-eyed boy rambled, to which his father rose an eyebrow in contemplation.
"What's a Johnny Rockets?" He asked then, and Harry gulped.
"It's like a, um... What did it say when I looked it up? Oh yes! It's like a cute old-fashioned restaurant that's got like supposedly the best burgers, as well as shakes. There's jukeboxes there too!" Harry exclaimed, glad that he actually had decided to look it up the previous night.
"Well Harry, I don't know if anyone makes better burgers than your father." Frank spoke, reaching out and taking James' hand lovingly. The couple stared into each other's eyes for a moment, and Harry heard Severus whisper something into Lucius' ear.
Once they looked away, the blond man cleared his throat.
"You two make a fine couple. If only our sons behaved the way the two of you do." He spoke wistfully, glaring at Draco, who was seated between Neville and Severus.
"Yes, if only." James gave Harry that same look, and then folded his hands together. "Well, in spite of being my son being an idiot, a milkshake does sound quite good. I think I would love to try this Johnny's Rocket."
"It's Johnny Rockets." Harry corrected, blushing.
"Whatever."

And so that is how the family found themselves piled into the black minivan, driving in the opposite direction of the beach and across a highway towards the Commons. Entering the plaza, they had to pass what appeared to be a large pond, with numerous lily pads floating in the water, and a fountain in its middle.
"Think there's alligators in there?" Neville asked, though his eyes seemed more focused on the lily pads. He loved anything to do with gardening, animals, and herbs, and so he was quite fond of Biology, Animal Science, and Agricultural-based classes.
"There shouldn't be, considering we're so close to a highly populated area." Lucius explained, seemingly testing the water with one of his famous glares. It seemed he said 'I dare you to put an alligator there, and watch what'll happen' to the water.
"I guess you're right." Neville said, still staring at the pond wistfully. From the way the families had gotten into the van, James had taken the driver's seat, Frank in the passenger, Lucius, Severus, and Neville had clambered into the very back row, and Draco and Harry were stuck seated beside each other in the middle. Harry was surprised his father drove a car so well that had its contents mixed up.
"What're we gonna do first?" James asked, pulling into a driving spot that appeared to be on the east side of the Commons. They walked through a small section between two shops: one being Abercrombie & Fitch, the other being Build-A-Bear Workshop.
"Oh my god, can we make a bear!" Neville asked cheerfully, leaving the men to look at him oddly.
"How about this? How about we all split and do shopping wherever we wish to, and meet back here at one-thirty to head to Johnny's Rocket." James prompted.
"Johnny Rockets." Harry spoke again, and his father glared at him.
"Sounds like a great idea! So, Neville, if you've got your heart on spending your money on a childish bear, do it." Draco exclaimed, and Harry elbowed him.
"I, uh..." It was then that Neville noticed it was mainly ten-year-old's and under inside there, and blushed.
"Malfoy, let him do what he wants, you prat." Harry snapped. He had dressed more cautiously today, sticking to a regular burgundy colored shirt that portrayed the name of the school they all attended -St. Mungo's Academy- in gold letters. He wore black athletic shorts to accompany it, as well as a pair of Converse.
Draco thought he looked like a jock. He was wearing a plain, white t-shirt and grey cargo shorts. On his feet, a pair of grey slip-on Vans rested without socks. He had decided against hair gel that day, as the sun usually just seemed to cook his hair, and it left the blond strands to appear fluffy, and slightly messy.
"I was just saying that some people might think your brother's not all there in the head." Draco explained, and it was then that they noticed the adults had already wandered off, and therefore Operation Time was being wasted. "Whatever. Longbottom, do what you want."
Harry watched as the blond scurried off in no particular direction, and glanced at his brother.
"I'm sorry about him." He started, but Neville raised a hand submissively.
"Don't be. You two aren't together, and therefore you shouldn't have to apologize for him being an arse to me. It's whatever. Go scamper off and do whatever you do. I guess I'll just go to the sweets shop." The sweets shop happened to be right next door to Build-A-Bear, and Harry got a feeling that as soon as he was gone, the black-haired lad was going to venture his way next door and make a bear in peace.
And so, Harry ventured further down the plaza, eyeing the various shops. He walked past the Johnny Rockets place, and heard old music playing through the speakers. He took notice of a movie theater a little way's back behind the restaurant, a sunglasses kiosk, and then a Starbucks in the next row of shops.
Across from the Starbucks, a cement structure sat in which various bushes grew stop it. He noticed people around his age sitting on the structure, and decided he hadn't checked his phone in a while. He went inside the coffee shop quickly, noticing that most of those teens and uni-aged students had cups, and ordered himself a plain iced coffee.
Once seated on the structure, he pulled out his phone and decided to text Hermione, as Johnny Rockets was in his line of view.
[Harry]
Family's heading to JR for lunch. Can we meet sooner?
It took maybe ten minutes before Hermione replied:
[Hermione]
Are you in the Commons?
[Harry]
On the cement outside Starbucks.
Then, he noticed the bushy-haired girl walk outside with a tray in her hands, and on it, three milkshakes for a setting of people in one of the outside tables. She looked up at him after setting down the shakes on the table, and then gestured for him to wait a moment.
When she came back outside, the navy blue apron that matched the lettering on her t-shirt displaying the restaurant's name was gone.
"I've got five minutes that Pansy'll cover my tables. What's up?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest before eyeing Harry's drink.
"You want some?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm parched!" She exclaimed, and all-but snatched the cup from his hand took a sip. She handed the cup back to him, and tied her hair back in a ponytail. He was surprised her hair was so long, as most of the girls' hair that he saw in Florida was short. Maybe it was a Hetero thing: having long hair to impress the guys or whatever. He didn't know.
"So, what do you recommend at Johnny Rockets?" He asked, and she rolled her eyes.
"Ask me that when I serve your family." She stated, and then sat beside him, kicking her legs outward and leaning back to embrace the sunshine. Beside the white t-shirt, she wore a pair of beige cargo shorts, similar style to Draco's, and a pair of regular white and grey sneakers of some brand that Harry didn't know.
Her legs looked muscular, and smooth, and Harry wondered if it was weird if he asked to touch them. Any set of bare legs he'd ever seen were hairy, including his own. They sat quiet for a moment, and then Hermione cleared her throat.
"So, was there anything you wanted to say because Pansy's gonna be looking for me in about a minute." She asked, and took another sip of Harry's drink.
"Is Pansy straight?" Harry asked suddenly, and Hermione looked at him strangely.
"She's uh... Well, her and her girlfriend Millicent are taking a break for a while and I think she's trying to do things to get her back. Are you in need of a second 'girlfriend' or whatever?" Hermione asked, emphasizing the word with finger quotes.
"No, but Draco needs a girlfriend, and if your friend is willing to do that, it'd be lovely." Harry decided, and suddenly a girl with black hair was waving Hermione back over, holding her apron.
"I've gotta go, but I'll send her over." She stated, grabbing Harry's drink from him and carrying it with it. She slipped back into the apron, said something to the girl, and slipped back inside as the girl made her way over to him.
