-I Proved Myself-
Hermione POV-
I was walking down to the lake, trying to figure things out.
When I got there, I found someone siting there already. Upon a closer look I saw that it was Omega. Without a word, I sat next to him.
He was tensed up, but looked emotionless. His eyes told a different story though. It was early morning, and his eyes had big bags. His eyes were like a raging storm, like the sky was fighting the rain that was destined to come. But, they held a purpose.
I didn't speak, and neither did he.
I wasn't really sure why I stayed, but I did.
He looked at the water as if it held purpose. However, he made sure he didn't touch it. It was like there was a piece of glass between his feet and the water. So close, yet so far away from what caused him to be this.
You could see it in his eyes, the look he gave the water wasn't just purpose. It was cold, heartbreaking, and seemed to say: look what you've done.
A piece of glass was all that kept him from unleashing a storm. Maybe it was a literal storm, or maybe it was anger. Or both.
Eventually, we both looked at each other and silently got up. The journey back to the castle was like the lake, silence. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence though, it was more like...understanding.
The difference this time was his eyes, they were calmer, but still determined.
I would never admit this out loud, but it was beautiful. The fact that he had a purpose, a real purpose, was beautiful. I once thought that my purpose was to fight Voldemort with my friends, but what now?
They left me for the self centered group of demigods, and decided they were done trusting me and my knowledge. They're absolutely crazy.
If the prince of the universe—a good guy—says he knows for a fact Percy's innocent, why would you believe the rude people that even the hat insulted?
By this time, I made it to breakfast (I was at the lake very early in the morning, I needed fresh air).
I sat a few seats down from Thalia, and soon after Harry and Ron sat next to me. I looked up, surprised that they didn't sit next to Annabeths group. Did they come to there senses?
"We miss you Hermione," Ron said, "Why wont you just except the truth? Percy was a traitor."
Oh.
"You two are unbelievable. How could you believe them? The hat said that they did terrible things." I defended.
"They were in a war, Hermione. Wars make you do terrible things. You should know that." Harry said.
"We were not in a war Harry, we were in a battle. Those two things are completely different." I said, "And thats not at all what the hat was talking about."
"How do you know?"
"I have a brain, and unlike you imbeciles, I use it."
Ron glared at me, and Harry looked at me like I hurt him. They were silent, so I continued.
"If the most powerful person in the universe, who happens to be one of the good guys, tells you something, why wouldn't you believe them?"
"I know nothing about him Hermione, no one does."
"You would believe Dumbledoor."
Harry looked as if I slapped him in the face.
"He's not the most powerful," Ron said, "He's the son of the most powerful."
"If a dog has a puppy, are you going to say the puppy isn't a dog? Does an apple seed not make an apple tree? Is a sapling not a tree? How then can you say that Omega cannot do what Chaos does?"
It seemed as if they didn't have an answer, because they walked away in silence.
I watched them as they left to sit with Annabeth, and in doing so I could see Omega (who was siting across from Thalia) look at me like I just proved myself.
