Chapter Two
Iwaizumi was sat in the back of the Detectives car looking through the window and trying to compose himself. Was this a dream? It all just felt so surreal. Where was Oikawa?
Detective Sawamura broke the silence, "you play volleyball, don't you?" Iwa responded quietly, "Yes Sir" The detective continued, "Have you ever played against Karasuno?" "Yes Sir" the boy replied again. "You may know my son Daichi, he's the Captain of Karasuno. Do you know I'm certain that he has mentioned Oikawa Tooru before. Did they know each other?"
Iwaizumi felt a wave of sickness wash over him when the Detective mentioned Oikawa's name and he was left with the sudden realisation that his childhood friend could be dead. He felt the tears spill down his face, he had been numb before, not taking anything in but now he realised that he may never see his friend again. He tried to hold everything in but a sob escaped his throat which alerted the officer that the boy was breaking.
"Are you ok, son?" Detective Sawamura asked. Iwa looked at him sadly, "please tell me that you'll find him, I can't bear the thought of never seeing him again. I'd do anything to just have him back here". "We're going to do everything in our power to find him, I can promise you that". The boy just nodded and continued to fall apart on the back seat.
Ten minutes later they were at the Police station. Iwa was taken into a room with a desk and four chairs and advised to sit. "Is there anyway that one of your parents could meet you here as you need an adult present whilst we interview you?" Detective Sawamura asked. "No sir, they're overseas at the moment" Iwa replied quietly. "What about a teacher or volleyball coach?" Iwa advised them that the head coach was visiting family but Coach Mizoguchi would possibly be available. "I'll get you something to drink whilst I call him" the officer replied whilst leaving the room.
Iwaizumi realised that everything that occured after training would come to light. He was so ashamed of what he did, would he ever be forgiven especially if Oikawa was never found or worse still he wasn't alive when he was found.
Thirty minutes later Iwaizumi, Coach Mizoguchi, Detective Sawamura and another officer sat in the room together and the questioning began. "Ok, Hajime, can you tell me about what happened the last time that you saw Tooru". Iwa looked down at the floor, he felt sick, he was distraught. As he looked up it was obvious that he was extremely upset. "Come on Hajime, you need to tell us what happened, we need to find Tooru before it's too late.
"It's horrible, I'm so ashamed. If anything has happened to him it's my fault" the boy sobbed hysterically. "It's my fault, he ran because I betrayed him. I should have told him the truth".
"And what is the truth Hajime?" the detective asked. "I should have told him that I love him and not worried about what anyone else thought or said" the boy was shaking violently and hyperventilating.
"That's enough" the coach shouted. "He, of all people would NEVER hurt Tooru, NEVER. I'm taking him home."
