Cold breeze teased under the blankets. I shuddered, rubbing my feet together.
As I opened my eyes, I noticed leaves plucking themselves off long branches, pirouetting down the honeyed sky, revealing their scarlet sides, as autumn slowly met its end. Some tapped along the glass, and it was the only thing I could hear through my ears which were still half asleep, apart from the distant melodies of robins.

I just appreciated the moment.

𝗜 𝗚𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗢𝗥𝗦, spotting Harry rush to first period. I hurried after him,

'Harry!'

He stopped in his tracks, staring at me curiously.

'What's our first class?' I asked, jogging over to him.

'Uhh- Care for Magical Creatures. Come on.'

I gave an appreciating smile, tagging along.
We both reached the outside of the castle. The winds were starting to become frostier, and sharper. My cheeks reddened, and my throat became dry as we kept on walking in the cold. My arms wrapped round my torso, and I felt my teeth chatter uncontrollably.
We mostly carried on in silence, but after a while, Harry spoke, his breath fogging into the wind.

'How are you and Malfoy?'

My heart quickened its pace. I was confused, but also praying, hoping he didn't mean what I thought he meant.

'What do you mean?' I chuckled nervously.

'I mean...he told me you guys kissed-'

'What?' I screeched.

I sprinted away, running for the class.
My mind whirred, it was hard to see, with all my thoughts blurring my vision.
I finally reached it. I shoved past the crowd of students, my eyes hardening its stare, searching for that blonde boy.

I finally spotted him, joking and pushing around with Adrian Pucey.

Everyone was chattering and talking, my voice could barely be heard,

'Malfoy?' I seethed, storming towards him.

As I came closer, Adrian noticed me. He sniggered,

'I'll leave you two lovebirds to it, then.'

He sauntered off into the crowd, after clapping Draco on the shoulder.
Draco stared at the floor, hand rubbing the back of his neck. He looked a bit embarrassed, his cheeks stained a rosy pink. He looked up at me, pressing his lips together sheepishly.

'Hey, Domi.'

I scrunched my nose in frustration.

'What was that?' Before, I tried not to sound loud. Now I was trying not to sound shrill.

'What was what?'

'You told Harry we kissed?' I didn't think I was able to control it for a second longer. This boy.

He started giggling.

I faltered a little, but kept my hard front.

'What?' I demanded, arms crossed.

He took a step closer to me, then tapped my nose daintily with his finger. My eyes widened.

'You look cute when you're mad, dummy.'

I felt tingles of blood rush to cheeks. My face got warmer, and I started to fluster.
I rolled my eyes, flailing my arms in irritation. I kicked his shin, making him yelp.

'Answer the question Draco.'

He grabbed onto his leg, dramatically gasping for air.

'Oww. You're so mean.' he whimpered, giving me pathetic puppy dog eyes.
Although, I didn't admit it, they were quite cute.

I groaned, slapping him in the chest.
'Why did you tell Harry we kissed, Draco? Please. Answer the question.' I begged.

He stopped for a second, focusing his gaze on my eyes solemnly.

'Because we did.'

'But...why?'

'I don't know. I guess I got jealous.'

I narrowed my eyes in confusion.
He continued,

'Potter was going on about how he was great mates with you. I didn't want him to think he had a chance. Because, you're mine.'

I sighed, shaking my head at him,
'Harry and I are just friends. We've always been friends.'

'So have we.'

'Yeah, but...' I started, then realising I didn't know how to end my sentence.

He waited, so I sighed again,

'I just thought you were telling the whole school.' I let an awkward laugh escape my throat.

He placed his hands on my shoulders. I could feel the rings press through my robe. I looked up at him. His deep, smoky eyes searched mine, for something. Trust.

'I would never do that, darling.'

I smiled gratefully.
'I know. I know.'

He let his hands fall, and I was about to walk round to face the class, when he suddenly gripped onto my arm. I turned to him.

'Wait. Are we- What are we?' He questioned.

I stopped still. What were we? It wasn't like we were dating. I realised we hadn't really thought this through-

Then he kissed me, again.

It was an instant reflex to kiss back.
His cold hands cupped my cheeks gently.
My lips grazed softly against his, breathing in the moment-

'Please keep that private, fellas.'

A gruffed voice bellowed.
We abruptly pulled away, quickly turning to face Hagrid. Our cheeks reddened scarlet.
Luckily, everyone else was too busy observing some lettuce patches, growing beneath the fertile soil, that they didn't notice us.

'Sorry.' I meekly excused myself, joining the others and pretending to be interested in what they were all staring at.
Draco wandered and stood beside me, mirroring my gaze. I glanced at him, and couldn't hold in a smirk. We both burst into a giggle fit, unable to control ourselves. He covered his mouth with his hands as he laughed, and my mind awed in how cute he looked.
Then he gently tapped his fingers along my wrist. My eyes flickered to him. He smoothly placed his hand on top of mine, interlocking each of our fingers together. The coldness of his skin tickled, and a shiver shot up and down my spine. He gripped on gently, and flashed that silly smile at me once more.

𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗢𝗢𝗡.
Draco and I were making our way outside of the school building for lunch. The dry wind gushed past us, nipping harshly at my nose and cheeks. The temperatures were freezing, and goosebumps were trailed all around my bare legs.
Why I decided to wear a dress in this condition, I have no idea. It was a polka dot dress, with a lettuce trim hem that frilled right above my knees. The sleeves were thin straps that buttoned on my shoulders.
I had gotten it from Hogsmeade, with Hermione, and she said it made me look like a sophisticated French girl who worked at a bakery. I took that as a compliment.

Draco had a heavy basket in his hand, and glass could be heard clinking inside. I asked him once, what he was carrying, but he shushed me and said it was a surprise. Whatever it was, I hoped it would be quick, I didn't think I could survive walking outside any longer without turning into an ice cube.
Our feet crunched satisfyingly on the crisp leaves beneath us, but we finally came to stop. I looked up from the damp ground, and saw we were standing by the black lake. The bottomless, deep blue reflected from the pale sun, revealing a glassy, flat sheen. Little, wilting daisies sprouting from the mossy floors swayed against the breeze.

'Here we are.' he gave a small sigh, breathing in the fresh air.

'The lake? Didn't know you were so cheesy.' I teased him.

'Don't you remember?'

'Remember what?' I set myself down on the sun baked dirt, crossing my legs, my hands resting on either side of me.

He sat down too, beside me, and placed the basket in between us.
'We did this practically everyday, dummy. We had picnics.' he patted firmly on the basket.

My face broke into a warm smile.
'I didn't think you would remember that.'

He scoffed, flashing a grin. He started opening the basket, revealing a treasure load of custard biscuits, cress sandwiches wrapped in baking parchment, and green apples.

'Of course I remember. It's not hard to forget spending awful, torturing hours with you.' he sniggered, biting into an apple.

I gasped, swatting him on the shoulder. We both bawled over with laughter, him ducking his head away from my hand. I quickly snatched the apple away from him, biting into it. I stood up from his reach, running away. He followed after, chasing me round the big oak tree as we giggled.
I turned round the corner of the trunk, then suddenly, he appeared, and grabbed me, his arms wrapping round my stomach. I squealed as he held me up above the grass.

'Let go of me, you bastard!'

He let out a loud chuckle, setting me down turning me around so that I faced him. He was so close, I could see a little mud stain on his rosy cheek. I giggled at this.

We both sat back down on the dew fuzzed grass, him rummaging through the basket and grabbing a small triangular sandwich wrapped in parchment. He handed it to me, before taking his own.

'Where did you get all this food?' I asked unwrapping the sandwich and taking a generous bite.

'I made all this myself.' he exclaimed proudly.

I swallowed, my eyes widening like an owl, 'You made these? All by yourself?'

He nodded, licking his lips clean from the sauce.

'Oh!' he suddenly sat upright, digging into his hoodie pockets, 'I got you something.'

'A gift?'

He nodded, taking out a small box wrapped delicately in rocking horse paper. My hand flew to my mouth,

'But Draco, I didn't get you anything.'

'I didn't expect you to. This is just, like, a small thing.'

He offered the gift to me nervously, which I took. I unwrapped it, careful not to rip the expensive paper. Inside, there revealed a dark, navy box, and when I opened it, a small necklace sat. The statement piece was the shiniest gem I'd ever seen. It gleamed a light pink, almost too bright, in the shape of a flower-like piece.

'It's a pink diamond. I remember you told me you wanted this, in that small jewellery shop by Diagon Alley. Even after all that time, nobody had bought it yet. So, I just wanted to give this to you.'

I was speechless. He gave me the rarest necklace ever. It felt like it was yesterday I told him that, and the fact he remembered, melted my insides. Instantly, I grabbed him, pulling into a huge hug,

'Thank you! Thank you! Oh my god, I love you-' I paused, slowly pulling away as he sat there in stillness.

I coughed awkwardly, pressing my lips together. What was wrong with me? I had said that before many times, but only in a friend way. Now, I didn't know if we were still friends, or in a relationship.

'Uh...

He grinned, then stopped still for a second, looking slightly flustered,

'Okay so, I have to ask you something.'

'Yes?'

'And please don't get shocked because-'

I huffed impatiently, chuckling at how red he turned, 'Come on, what is it?'

He took a long breath, holding onto my shoulders gingerly as he gulped.

'Will you be my girlfriend?'

Wind got knocked out my lungs. My heart tightened in pure shock. All of a sudden, my knees shivered absentmindedly, like a loose buckle. It felt like all the times I was drunk. All sounds of our surrounding completely faded off, and the only thing I could hear was the unstable thrumming of my heartbeat. The only thing in my vision was his angelic face, a longing expression waiting for my answer. A wave of defeat washed over his face for a second,

'I mean, I like you Domi. I like you more than a best friend. And I was just wondering- by any chance- any chance at all... you might feel the same. Or just-'

'Yes.'

An electric spark shot down my back as his face lit up. A wide smile revealed and so did mine. He leaned his face closer to mine, then pressed our lips together. My heart fluttered euphorically, and my feet melted numbly into the moss.

Then, I felt a cold drop flick onto my nose, making me shiver. We pulled away, and a trail of drops followed behind, tapping our faces gently.
More came, and in a few seconds, it started pouring with rain. The pitter pattering turned into a harsh shower, soaking our heads.
Draco's hair dampened and drops trickled down his fringe.

'We better get inside, quick.' I squinted through the rain.

'Alright. Can you keep up?' He teased, before grabbing my hand, and picking up the picnic basket with his other. He then took off his corduroy jacket, hanging it over both our damp heads.

We laughed, sprinting through the empty hallways. Our shoes left muddy imprints as we ran along, the slapping of our soles echoing through the wooden floorboards. As we kept our speed, I glanced to my side to look at him.

He could be in a movie, he looked so angelic.

The strands of rained blonde hair spilled over his face, and it flew in the wind. His cheeks were flushed and raw from the chilly weather, and his laughs were so tender.
He looked pure through it all.

And it's the pureness that touched my heart the most.
