Morning arrived, the anesthesia had wore off, surgery was in like two hours. Life was going great. Everything from the night before was very fuzzy. Wait. Oh god did they win the game? What if they lost the game because of him? Because he got injured? Fuck now he felt guilty. He groaned and slowly sat up on his bed, but was slightly held back by something on his hand. He nearly screamed when he saw Zelda sleeping there, her hand on top of his. But then his heart got all warm and fuzzy when he saw that her hair was a mess. Hol' up. If Zelda was here, sleeping, does that mean she spent the whole night watching over him? Well great now he felt even more guilty.
She started shifting around a little and he freaked out. What is gonna tell her? Should he apologize? Well of course he should apologize! The poor girl just spent the whole night here making sure he was okay. She risked a strike for him, and he knew how much she hated not being punctual. And she risked that for him. Ow his heart hurt yet felt joyous at the same time.
Her eyes opened, those blue galaxies of wonder looked straight up at him. A smile formed on her lips as she sat up and stretched, also fixing her hair a little. "I should've been the one to wake up first, dummie. Oh well, what can we do about it now. Good morning." The smile she gave him was so warm and filled with all the love and happiness in the world. Ugh, his heart.
"Ow," he groaned, holding on to his chest to try to keep his heart from combusting of happiness.
Zelda, sensing danger, quickly stood up and put her hands on his shoulders. "Are you okay? Are you getting chest pain? I could call in the doctors-"
"No! No it's not that," Ike said. He was just trying to stay alive and not die because of the amount of love he felt for you. No biggie. "Just a headache."
She frowned. What she was about to do was very risky, and may have the chance of killing them both. But you know what, fuck it. She moved some hair away from his forehead and gently kissed it. His eyes went wide and seemingly, all the blood in his body rushed up to his face because he became a tomato in an instant.
"Does it feel any better?" She asked.
"yEs," he wheezed. He's been given the healing touch, the touch that will cure any and all illnesses that may befall him.
Zelda smiled and started walking away from him. "I'll go get the doctor and tell them you're awake. You gotta get ready for surgery!"
"D-don't remind me," Ike said quietly. She smiled and walked out, closing the door behind her.
He threw himself back down on his bed and screamed like a teenage girl seeing her favorite celebrity. He covered his face and stomped his good foot down on the bed. He threw his arms to the side and sighed heavily. He's such a lovestruck weeb for this girl, it's almost embarrassing. And he wasn't sure if he loved it or hated himself for being so weak.
Meanwhile, Zelda was jumping around like a fangirl finding a new husbando or waifu. She heaved a lovestruck sigh and looked forward confidently. She realized someone was standing there, looking at her like she was insane.
"Oh hi Samus," Zelda said quietly.
"What's with you? And did you spend the night here?" Samus asked.
Zelda took her arm and dragged her a little further away from the door. "Okay, so, I came here last night to check on him, and he was very loopy and kinda high, and he just started complimenting me so much, it made me feel are warm and fuzzy inside."
Samus frowned slightly. "He does that all the time, though, what's so special about it?"
"Welllll, let's just say..." A light blush covered Zelda's cheeks, "we kissed afterwards."
"What." Samus winced.
"He, he put his hand on the back of my neck and pulled me in, and we, we just, ah! It makes my heart skip a beat even thinking about it," Zelda sighed.
Samus' eyebrows furrowed. "He had anesthesia, didn't he? He was also loopy from the hit to the head, do you really think he remembers it?"
She...she had a point. He was acting a little odd this morning. "Well, he hasn't said anything about it."
"Is that so," Samus rolled her eyes. "Anyway, you don't need to be here anymore, I'll take care of him."
"Oh, well, I'll go get the doctor then, to tell them he's awake," Zelda smiled.
"Okay, bye," Samus said, walking past her and bumping into her shoulder. She opened the door to Ike's room, slamming the door behind her.
Zelda flinched and pouted, walking away. Now she was starting to lose hope. Maybe Samus was right, maybe Ike really didn't remember. She shook her head and walked up to one of the desk and told them that he woke up and that he seemed alright. They told her a doctor would come to his room in about an hour to prepare him, and she should either go home or stay with him. She knew she should go home, and she would. But it'd be rude to leave without a proper goodbye, right?
She walked down the hallway that led to Ike's room, knocked on his door twice, and opened the door right after. Samus and Ike quickly turned their heads towards her, their reactions being quite different. Ike looked very happy she was back with that goofy smile plastered on his face, while Samus looked a little annoyed. Her annoyance turned into a slight smirk.
"Zelda, you came back! What's up?" Samus smiled.
She was... a little surprised by Samus' sudden change in attitude to say the least. She seemed so annoyed earlier. "Ah, well, I'm going home now so I came to say goodbye."
"Right! You haven't gone home since last night, I'm so sorry," Ike said.
"Stop worrying so much, it's fine really," Zelda giggled, walkign up to him and giving him a tight hug. Ike hesitated a bit before hugging her around the waist.
Samus rolled her eyes. "Oh, by the way Ike, I've been meaning to ask," she paused for a bit, smirking at Zelda, "how does your head feel? You got hit pretty bad last night."
He didn't let go of Zelda. "Well, it hurts from time to time, that's for sure, but I don't really remember the pain from it. Everything from last night is fuzzy. It's all just... a mess."
Samus smirked. She looked at Zelda, who looked down on Ike with wide eyes and a certain sadness to her face. Ike looked up at her and he immediately got worried. He's never seen that expression on her before, and he didn't like it. Samus was enjoying this, so why not add more to it.
"See Zelda? I told you he wouldn't remember," Samus dramatically whined.
"Wait, remember what?" Ike looked back up at Zelda. She was looking at Samus, horrified. Like her whole world had broken apart. Maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. "Zel? Did I do something stupid? If I did, hell, if I said something stupid, please forgive me. I'm sorry I can't remember."
She looked down. Samus was right, he didn't remember. It's not his fault, but even then, she wanted to cry. She was so dumb for thinking he would remember after being hit the head and put on anesthesia. Just hold it together for now, Zelda, you can't break down here.
"You didn't do anything Ike, I was just curious if you remembered anythign but was too afraid to ask," Zelda smiled.
She was lying, that was obvious to him, but he didn't want to preasure her. "If you say so."
"Y-yeah. Um, I'll be going now," she let go of Ike. "Bye Sam." She went for a quick hug, because in all honesty, she wasn't too happy with her right now. But when she went to part, Samus held on to her.
"I told you not to get your hopes up, Zel," Samus whispered. Zelda got a chill down her spine and lightly pushed herself away from Samus, who looked at her with a kind smile. Her eyebrows furrowed and she hurried to the door, and tried her best to shut it quietly.
She broke down.
It wasn't his fault.
She knew that.
She knew it but it still hurt so much.
She needed to tell him how she felt soon before it was too late, before somethign bad happened.
But how.
After that, how was she supposed to?
Samus, she seemed so suspicous.
Maybe she was beign overprotective over Ike.
But even Sheik, who is the most overprotective person she knew, wouldn't do what she did.
Which only left one option.
Samus also liked Ike.
