32: Finding Ones Freedom
The car came to a stop just outside of grand expensive looking hotel. My door opened and a man wearing black slacks and a red suit jacket over his white button down shirt took my hand and helped me out of the car before walking me around to Matt who gave him his keys.
"An expensive hotel with valet parking, who is this guy?" Matt muttered a little annoyed from what I could tell as he took my hand and slid it in the crock of his elbow and led me inside.
The doors were opened for us and the gold and silver shimmer hit me in an instant, the floors were polished marble – clean to perfection making the crystal chandeliers, the lights and the golden colouring of the walls reflect off the surface. The entrance to the hotel was large with a dark timbered round table in the middle holding a large bouquet of flowers, a grand stair case leading up to the next floor and a reception on the right. Matt walked us over to the large gathering of people in a room to our left. It was a nice large room, with white steamers hung around the ceiling and large tables decorated with white table clothes and red flower petals.
Matt looked a little uncomfortable and he was so tense that I could feel it in his arms as he held me close. "Matty, relax." I said giving his arm a light squeeze.
"I am. It's just..." he trailed off, looking around.
"Just what?"
"I wasn't expecting this." He gestured around the room.
I smiled thinking of Matt's version of an engagement party – a few beers at the local pub and a congratulations to whomever it was getting married. "Come on, let's find Julie." I said pulling him off, further into the room.
There were a lot of people here, some I recognised to be friends from work and others who were distant relatives of Julie's whom I've only meet a few times during her twenty first birthday and the occasional Christmas. We wondered over to the larger table by the presents and I caught sight of the beautiful pink dress that I knew Julie was wearing, smiling I quickly pulled Matt over towards her, quickly tapping her on the shoulder and making her spin around to face us with a startled look on her face.
"Oh thank god!" Her eyes widened as she breathed a sigh of relief and pulled me into a bone crushing hug.
"I've meet about a hundred people and the only name I can remember is John, but don't ask me who it belongs to because I'm not even sure if it was a man or woman." She whispered in my ear before pulling back and turning to her brother, leaving me giggling and shaking my head a little, disapprovingly.
Julie turned to Matt and went in for a hug, her arms went around his waist as she hugged him like any little sister would but Matt just stared at his sister un-approvingly, the look made me think that I was missing something. Julie and Mat had always been inseparable or so to speak and had always made me wish I had a sibling but the look on Matt's face told me there was something more going on here, than him simply disapproving of her one night stand.
"I'm still not happy with you." He said in the coolest and meanest voice he could seem to muster up – which wasn't that threatening.
"I know but I have made sure there was chocolate eclairs for you." She smiled brightly, tempting her brother with his favourite sweets.
"Okay, you're back on the good list now, where's my food?" He beamed, bouncing a little on the spot making me chuckle and roll my eyes.
"Over there by the bar." She giggled as Matt left in search of his food. "You know it is amazing what he will forgive when bribed with food." She said, turning to me.
"I know, he didn't take the news well."
"That is a major understatement Mia, he blow it, although he is mainly just pissed because I didn't tell him sooner and then when I told him about the little arrangement I have with Thomas he was so disappointed in me." She confessed, her once happy expression dying a little as she recalled the events. I knew the last few months have been hard for Julie and that I haven't been the best of friend to her lately but I was determined that now everything was over and I was getting my life in order, I was going to be there for whatever she needed and on the off occasion – that will probably be a little more frequent than I had first thought – help Thomas survive her murdering spree.
"He'll get over it Jules." I reassured her making her happy mood return.
We started talking and I kept the conversation mostly on her, wanting to know what they were planning to do about the wedding – which was still in debate – and how everything was going with the baby, to which Julie seemed to actually be able to talk about without cringing or looking horrified, maybe even with a little excitement. She was telling me about her last doctor's appointment when she trailed off and her eyes went wide as if seeing a tiger pouncing towards her.
I pulled back a little and suddenly stiffened. "What?" I asked hesitantly unsure if I really wanted to know the answer to my question.
"Stay right there and don't move, my parents are here." She visibly shuddered.
I smiled and went to spin around when Julie caught my arm and narrowed her eyes giving me one of her best 'I can kill you and no one would know' stares that seemed to stop me in my tracks. "Don't you dare move or I swear..." She started, threatening through clenched teeth but her words died the minute her mother's voice echoed through the small hall, creating an eerie silence for a moment.
"Julie!" Evelyn called before racing over towards us with her husband Rickard in tow.
Julie really did try to make a run for it but as her heel stepped on her dress the second she went to run she ended up doing a weird hop and then standing up straight, narrowing her eyes at the people around us as if daring them to say that she fell. Quickly flipping her hair she did her best act natural look – which was anything but natural – and took a deep breath as her mother strung forward.
"Oh my beautiful girl, look at you your practically glowing." Evelyn beamed as she hugged her daughter so tight that I thought for a moment her head might pop off.
"Mum... can't... breath."
"Huh? Oh right." Her mother let her go and I quickly excused myself with the excuse I was thirsty but really I just wanted to give the family some privacy.
Finding my way over to the bar I ordered a drink and started scanning the room, Matty looked rather content as he was in deep conversation with a group of guys who were laughing at his jokes. I smiled, glad that he was finally begin to let loose and hopefully, in time, cut Julie some slack. As my eyes flickered through the crowed I realised that I was scanning each and every pair of eyes looking for the one I was most interested in. My head stop as my gaze locked with a particular pair of green eyes, although from this distance they looked almost blue.
I smiled and raised my glass as if to make a toast as Thomas paced over towards me and leaned up against the bar. "Got any toast?" I smiled and couldn't stop the giggle that escaped my lips.
"Oh god, is that like a thing now?" He groaned as he picked up his drink.
"Hey, you started it." I defended.
"True." He shrugged and turned to look around the room, scanning them just as I was a moment ago.
"Looking for someone in particular?"
"Are you?" He smirked and raised an eyebrow as he faced me.
"I asked first."
He sighed deeply and took another sip, finishing his glass. "I walked over to Julie and then I saw her parents and backed away like a bat out of hell."
"Hence the drink?"
"Confidence booster in a bottle, or in this case a glass." He flashed me an award winning smile. "You know my brother's around here somewhere, I saw him not too long ago but I'm pretty sure he was hiding from our mother, so you may have to do better than standing at the bar, try behind a pot plant."
"And who said I was looking for him?"
He gave me a look that said 'it was written all over my face'.
"I'll try the pot plants and you grow up and go talk to Julie's parents, they're not that bad I promise and besides, Julie will think up some excuse to shoo them along." I shrugged and gave him a little nudge over in that direction, being sure to take the glass out of his hands.
Thomas groaned loudly but did what I said and headed off back into the crowed towards Julie. I smiled to myself and decided that I really was going to check the pot plants like Thomas had suggested after all, he was his twin and probably knew him better than anyone.

As I wondered around the room, making conversation and introducing myself to the many unknown faces I saw around I had finally become at ease. I had long since given up on the search for Jordan Wilder and any thoughts about my previous engagement were shut out of my mind and hopefully never to return again. I had come up with the conclusion that our hearts are not as fragile as one might think, although they get bruised, battered and torn apart by the people you let in, they are healed just as fast by the others still remaining.
The thought comforted me.
Rejoining Julie and Thomas I gave them both a bright smile while the two just gaped at me. "I thought you said they weren't that bad?" Thomas whined as he stared at his future mother and father in-law as they retreated into the crowd.
"They're not." I frowned a little confused.
"Are we talking about the same people?" Thomas asked Julie as he draped a hand around her waist.
"Yep, but Mia here thinks they're amazing." Julie shrugged as if I were talking about some magical friends.
"Poor delusional Mia." Thomas shook his head while he spoke, his words coming out the same as if I were just pronounced dead.
I scoffed at the pair. They were truly perfect for each other, they just hadn't figured that out yet.
"I need some air." I told Julie and she directed me to the middle of the hotel where it opened up into a small garden. I smiled and made my way out of the hot and packed room and into the gardens. It was beautiful, a large fountain in the middle and four large trees in each corner of the garden with wooden seats around them. I followed the stone path seeing the small colours of the poppies and other small flowers until I reached the fountain. I sat down on the edge letting the water splash up and tickle my skin, cooling me down instantly.
I closed my eyes and took in deep breaths, feeling the underlying tensions and troubles in my body lift like mist in the wind. This was what I needed, the cool, calming, sweet serenity...
"I'd be careful if I were you," a deep manly voice came from the other side of the fountain making me jump slightly and look up to see a pair of bright green eyes and a smirk that made my heart flutter. "You wouldn't want to fall in."
Everything seemed to fall still and silent as I stared at Jordan, his dark hair was silk back perfectly, his hands were tucked into the front pockets of his dark grey suit and his eyes shone like diamonds in the sunlight. Just seeing him there made everything turn, the time I had spent away from Jordan gave me time to think, to recollect myself and find me for who I really was without a man to define me. I thought my little crush on the man who helped me through the toughest months of my life was gone, totally faded, but now that I see him, my heart was skipping every second beat making it hard to breath, my dry mouth left me tongue tied and my hands itched towards him as I knew they would.
Flashing me a genuine smile he chuckled, looking down at his shoe for a moment before raising his eyes and looking at me, his gaze no longer landing on my shoulder or just past me as it once had but looking directly at me as if seeing into me, reading me like I was but a book for his entertainment.
"Hi." Was all I managed to chock out from my dry throat.
His smile only widened as he started to walk around the fountain closer to me. "Hi."
I opened and closed my mouth like a codfish unsure of really what to say to the man.
"I didn't know you were back in town." He said as he turned to face the fountain and watched the water splash and ripple.
"I wouldn't miss this, plus Julie would have probably killed me if I had."
He chuckled. "Yeah I'm becoming familiar with her murdering tendencies."
"How have you been?" I asked him as I studied his face, watching his expressions.
"Well, the one thing that has made my life less of a boring drag decided to leave, so I've been lacking entertainment." He smiled at me and shifted his position, his hand now next to mine and brushing gently against my skin. "How are you?"
Taking a deep breath I tackled his question with certainty. "Free," I smiled "and in need of some fun."
"I think I can help with that." He smiled and looked at me, his eyes darkening in seconds so that the blue ring resembled the night sky and the green shone an emerald obsidian – it was almost like staring up at the sky and watching a star sparkle.
Without thinking too much I leaned in and pressed my lips against his. Moving my hands I cupped his face as I kissed with everything I had, all of passion, the desire and longing for him that has been building in me in the last few months, craving his touch. Jordan wasted no time moving his hands to my waist, pulling me into his lap and kissing me back. I bit down on his bottom lip earning me an encouraging groan before Jordan took my bottom lip into his mouth and sucked, sending tingles shooting through my body like a wave of electricity and awakening my body from its previous dormant state.
Jordan let go of my lip before sliding his tongue over it and taking control of the kiss. I fought for dominance of the kiss for a mere moment but soon lost as my attention soon shifted to his hands started wondering over my curves and up my legs as he pushed my dress up slightly. Feeling light headed I pulled back breathless and leaned my forehead against his, as I saddle his lap and my erratic breathing made my chest brush against him repeatedly.
"Ready to go?" he breathed, clearly struggling to contain himself as he smirked and placed another quick kiss on my lips.
I giggled and nodded my head enthusiastically, before pulling back and standing up to fix my dress. It was then that I saw the bulge pushing against his pants and smiled innocently at him. Jordan stood up and gripped my hand in his before leading me off back into the room in which we had both escaped, I walked in front of him as his arm wrapped around me, keeping me close as we made our way through the crowed. I was about to walked out of the entrance when Jordan pulled on my hand making me turn and fall into his chest.
"Where do you think you're going?" He smirked before leading me over to the elevators.
Remember how I said that elevators seemed to capture either the most awkward or the most intense situations you will ever be in...
...This was an intense one.
Pushing me against the wall Jordan lips locked onto my neck where he started kissing and sucking at the flesh, his tongue and little nips doing crazy things to my body. I tilted my head back and let go of a moan I had been stifling. My hands started their own movements, finally doing what they have been itching to do a long time and started undoing his shirt and loosening his belt around his waist. Jordan's hands moved over my dress and began racking it up my body until his hands landed on the back of my thighs, gripping me tightly he lift me into the air and I wrapped my legs around him.
The Bing of the elevator went almost unnoticed by me as my attention was on Jordan and no one else.
He walked out of the elevator and into the room, carrying me all the while. I tipped his head back and kissed him deeply, taking advantage of his divided attention and dominating the kiss. Jordan lowered me down and my back soon dipped into a soft bed. He pulled back, breaking the kiss and standing up looking down at me. I watched him carefully, trying to read him. Did I do something wrong?
"What is it?" I asked, my voice light and riddled with desire. "What's wrong?"
He smiled and bent down so that his arms were resting on either side of me and his face was only an inch from mine. My eyes fluttered shut as I felt the warmth radiating off his body. "Nothing, absolutely nothing." He whispered seductively, his breath fanning my skin and adding to the pooling desire gathering in between my legs.
He kissed me sweetly and then pulled back once again. He took off his belt and chucked it aside before sliding out of his shirt making his bare muscular chest visible for my eyes to wonder. Leaning back into me Jordan's fingers brushed against my ankle before slowly running up and down my leg and slipping off my heels. Raising his hands over my legs he kept reaching up over my thighs and pushing my dress up and over my head in the process. Throwing the obstructive material to the side he kneeled down in between my thighs and gently, pushing me back down onto the bed, leaving me lying before him with nothing but my blue lace panties and strapless bra that unclips in the front.
Jordan hovered over me, his body covering mine as he started kissing along my neck and trailing down the centre of my body, his skilled hands made quick work of my bra as his lips kept trailing down to my bare stomach. He came to a stop at my panties, I could feel his warm breath fanning me through the thin material sending my body into a light tremor as I waited for him. Brushing against my skin his fingers hooked into the material and yanked it, ripping it off my body.
"Hey I liked those – Oh my god!" I threw my head back as his lips landed my inner thigh and then my entrance. Pushing my thighs further apart I closed my eyes and gave into the sensation of his lips and the power of his tongue, lapping up my juices and plunging into me and brushing against my walls as they closed in around him. I moaned again as he pulled back a little and started to suck and my clit.
My orgasm hit me hard making my back arch off the bed and my hands clench in the sheets as I silently screamed out. Coming down from my orgasm I only briefly became aware of Jordan as he slid out of his slacks and briefs and climbed on the bed, hovering just above me with his extremely hard member pressing at my entrance. Pushing himself into me slowly I moaned loudly as I felt him filling me, stretching my walls and burring himself deep inside me. Jordan started to rock, back and forth, sliding out only to thrust back in sending me closer and closer to a building orgasm. His lips locked onto mine as he stifled my moans and bit down on my bottom lip. "Scream for me Mia." He whispered against my lips before kissing me again.
Moving my hands into Jordan's hair I tugged at it making him groan and then moved my nails down his back, feeling his muscles tense and move under them. "Jordan!" I screamed out as my body exploded with pleasure and my orgasm took me hostage. My walls clenching down on Jordan, refusing to let him go as he followed me with an orgasm of his own, calling out my name just as loud.
As I lay there, with Jordan resting on top of me I finally figured out what it was I wanted. I don't want someone just to enter my heart and leave their mark, no, I want someone to hold my heart close to theirs and cherish it with all their being and promise to never give it up.
The End.
