24: Where One Lays Their Head
Wondering down stairs I saw Jodie, Jane and Tyson gathered around the TV, Jane was curled up in her husband's side with a book while he watched the show play out and spoke quietly to his sister. I smiled at the three and silently crept over to the kitchen. Thomas and Jordan sat at the together on the stools silently chatting while Jordan went through some papers. Typical men can't even leave their work for a night.
I walked into the kitchen waving a hello and jumping up on a stool next to Jordan.
"Where's Julie?" Thomas asked as he watched the door way almost as if he were waiting for her to appear.
"I sent her to bed; she was grumpy and ready to kill you again." I shrugged and turned my attention to Thomas. There was something a lot more laid back about him that separated him from Jordan, a more playful attitude? – But then Jordan was playful at times, I had seen that. Maybe it was the way he went from joking around to glaring at you? – Jordan did that too. It was hard to describe the difference between the twins, but it was there and clear as day if you spared more than a minute with them.
"But I haven't done anything yet!" He defeated.
"Yet?" So he planned on doing something?
"Well yeah, I mean I'm bound to do something to piss her off soon." He rolled his eyes in clear annoyance. Yeah Julie and Thomas have nothing in common what so ever.
"Oh I think you breathing is doing that just fine." Jordan interrupted, not even looking up as he flicked over the next page of the collective of papers.
"Maybe just give her some space; Julie doesn't react well if she's backed into a corner." I suggested sticking to my previous statement that I was going to help Thomas.
"Yeah well it's not all my fault."
"Yeah but most of it is." Jordan interrupted again earning him a deep glare that could melt butter.
"Do you mind? You're not in this conversation." Thomas said gesturing between him and me.
"Then don't have it around me."
"Fine. Walk away."
"No, I was here first." Now this time Jordan did look up, a challenging glare directed at his twin.
"Boys, seriously if you don't stop I'm going to help Julie plan your demises." I scolded.
Jordan looked at me then with a blank expression before turning to his brother. "Yeah you think Julie is bad you should this one with a list." He flashed me a smirk over his shoulder.
"You know what, I don't want to know." Thomas said as he slid off the stool and started walking off.
"Where are you going?" I called after him.
"To give Julie a reason to kill me." He smirked.
"Your parents know he'll never make it out of here alive right?" I whispered turning around to Jordan.
"Yep. I think they're on Julie's side though." He folded all of his papers and stuffed them into his bag that was sitting on the bench. He stood up and pushed his bag aside before turning his attention to me. "Come on." He held out his hand for me to take.
Don't take his hand. Whatever you do don't take his hand!
My hand moved and placed itself in his, my fingers lacing themselves around his.
No, what are you doing?! Stupid hands, don't listen to me.
"Where are we going?" I asked as he pulled me along walking me outside.
"Just wait and see." He smiled and we continued to walk. Outside there was a large porch made of dark wood and the gardens were full of mop top trees and bright ferns with only a few brightly coloured flowers to break up the shades of green. In the middle of the garden was a large pond with a rock waterfall cascading down and a small fountain just off to the side.
We walked along the deck and down it's steps until it flattened out into the small pier running just over the water. Jordan lead me to the small white motor boat that didn't look big enough for more than three people. Jordan grabbed a hold of the boat, steading it for me to step into. Using is hand to get my balance I lowered myself down in to the boat and grabbed onto the sides with both hands slightly afraid I would fall in if I leaned too much to one side.
Jordan stepped into the boat and immediately started up the engine. The boat lunged forward a little making my grip on the boat tighten and Jordan smile.
"Relax." He said in a soft, calming tone.
"I'm relaxed. I'm just not really sure why we are going for a late night boat ride."
"It isn't that late." It was about eight-thirty but the daylight savings meant the sun was only just beginning to set.
"So are you taking me out here to drown me?" I raised an eye brow at him.
"Well now that you mentioned it, it does sound rather tempting." He chuckled. "Turn around." He gestured behind me.
Slowly I turned around and saw a small island covered in trees and ferns, building up to make a hill and reflecting in the lake. The sun was just behind it in the early stages of setting for the night giving off a beautiful orange glow over the island.
When we were almost at the banks of the island Jordan cut the engine and grabbed out a paddle and started pushing us up the bank. "I'd leave those behind." He gestured down to my heels.
"Yeah, good idea. Hick up the damn hill bare foot and step on spiders and things. Genius!" I muttered just under my breath.
"What?" He said as he followed me out of the boat and dragged it up on the banks of the lake so that it didn't float away and leave us stranded until morning when his family notices us missing.
"Nothing." I quickly said and focused on getting out of the boat without falling in which was a difficult task in itself.
I stood there bare foot, waiting for Jordan. He looked so out of place, here, in the country with his slacks, rolled up to his calves so that they didn't fall into the water and his light grey button down shirt was rolled up to his forearms showing off more of the beautiful tanned skin – but yet there was a certain relaxed demeanour about him, a calm joy radiating off him putting even my tense muscles at ease.
Once he was finished dragging the boat up onto the banks, he walked over to me and flashed me an award winning smile before taking my hand in his and leading me up the hill. As we climbed up I started to notice the lanterns that hung on a long string and were draped over the high branches of trees, lighting your way to the top as the sun was in its deep stages of setting and the stars fought for the possession of the nights sky. I smiled and found myself looking at the lanterns in awe – partly wondering how the hell they were been lit with no power and if Jordan had really set all this up, but then I saw the extremely well hidden solar panel and my smile widened. Clever.
I took the next few steps with a slight jog to catch up to Jordan and let him help me up the last few steps of the extremely steep peck. As I was pulled to the top I saw the captivating view of the forest and lake with the setting sun in the background. It was beautiful. The waters captured on the last few colours of the setting sun – shifting between a pink, purple and then fading to a deep midnight blue, with the stars reflecting off the water's surface making it shine. The sky it's self was a deep red on the horizon – along the tree tops – and then faded to the pink, purple and dark blue sky that was seen in the water.
I followed Jordan to a small cliff where we sat down for the moment admiring the view in silence. He held my hand in his lap, his thumb lightly stroking my skin in small circles as if in a calming way and I felt my entire body relax.
"It's so beautiful up here." I whispered.
"Yeah, the sunsets during daylight savings are worth seeing. No two are the same from up here."
"You could just stare at it all day."
"With its captivating curves and the perfect contrast of colours drawing you and never letting go, I could stare at it for a lifetime." He mumbled, his voice sounding just as off and distant then mine.
Curves and Contrast of colours? There were no curves in the sky!
I turned to face him and saw him looking at me rather than the beautiful sunset. His eyes were dark; I couldn't even tell if there was any blue or green left in them. I licked my lips trying to get some moisture back in my mouth to speak but the butterflies had once again left my body feeling gitty and weightless leaving me hypnotised by his eyes.
"Shouldn't you be watching the sunset?" I found myself saying after a long moment of pause.
"I like this view better." He said in that deep dark voice that demanded attention and tugged at my emotions.
My heart skipped a beat and doubled up on the next like a beating drum while my breath seemed to get caught in my chest. I need to look away, I need to break his hold on me – but no matter how much I tried my eyes were glued, locked with his as if they were searching for the light in the dark tunnel.
Jordan moved quickly, leaning in and claiming my lips with his. His kiss was soft and urgent, passion hungry and driven as they moved against my lips, his tongue sliding over my bottom lip before he took my bottom lip and sucked on it before biting gently making me gasp and lean into him – giving his tongue full access to the rest of my mouth and allowing me to taste the heavenly and intoxicating gravy, wine and mint. It all tasted so much better off his tongue. His hands moved to my waist and traveled down my body, creasing my curves as they slid down to my thighs. He moved me onto his lap effortlessly while his hands slid up and played with the edge of my skirt, teasingly. My hands moved against my better judgment once again, moving into his hair and tugging at his brown locks making him moan and groan into my mouth – the sounds reregistering in only one place making me wet for him. I moved my hands down his face and over his body as I rocked back and forth on his lap, his bulged growing and putting pressure on the right spot.
I broke the kiss needing air and tilted my head back, moaning as his kisses ran down my neck to my cleavage. I opened my eyes and saw the darkness now around us and started to gain back my thoughts. Taking a moment to breathe some air I suddenly realised what I was doing, what he was doing.
Finding myself I pushed at Jordan to gain some space from is warm body. His lips left my skin and he looked up at me in shock for a moment and then concern.
"I-I can't." Was all I could seem to find at the time.
He didn't bother trying to hide his disappointment form me as he looked up at me, the colour starting to flood back into his eyes. He nodded slowly and gave me a small smile. "I understand. Sorry I shouldn't have pushed you."
I raised an eyebrow at him and smiled softly. He shouldn't have pushed me? Yeah because it's not like I was riding your hips and trying to tear of your shirt a moment ago.
If this had happened a few months from now then I wouldn't have stopped it, I liked Jordan and I had the desire to do a lot more than just rip his clothes off and kiss him but I didn't want it to be this way. I didn't want to go that far yet, I didn't want to use it as a way of getting back at Broody and I certainly didn't want him to think of it that way. If I did give myself to Jordan I wanted it to be because I want it, because I wanted him – it was something I couldn't do entirely at the moment.
"We should go." I whispered but made no move to get off of him, truth be told I was comfortable.
"Yeah we should." He smiled. My hands were still fiddling with the buttons on the lower part of his stomach. Stupid hands, what have I told you about touching him!
Finally finding my courage I stood up and helped Jordan get to his feet before we followed the lanterns back down to the boat. We stayed in silence for most of the ride back to the house, my mind was on the stars and the way the lake looked like black ink at night with the occasional thought about what would have happened if I hadn't of stopped him.
When we got back to the house the lights were on but everyone had headed to bed. Jordan told me to head upstairs while he turned off the lights. Getting to the top of the stairs I walked into the room I was sharing with Julie – making sure to be quiet since I knew she was asleep I opened the door and narrowed my eyes at the figure next to her.
"Oh he is so going to be a dead man when she wakes up." Jordan whispered coming up behind me.
Julie was laying there in the middle of the bed, an arm curled around a pillow and her other leaning over Thomas who looked like he had been trying to work his way in the bed without waking here but fell asleep half way through. His arm and leg were hanging out of the side and the others were just laid out kind of like he was trying to make a star with his body. I had no doubts the next time Julie rolled over she'd end up on top of him.
"Now where am I supposed to sleep?" I mumbled as I closed the door silently and turned to Jordan.
He walked over to the two doors on the other side of the room where Jordan and Thomas' rooms were. He opened the first door and leaned against the door frame. "You can take Thomas' if you have the guts."
I looked inside and saw everything everywhere; the room was a complete mess. "How is it even that dirty, they haven't been here that long?"
"It's Thomas'." He shrugged and walked over to his room. I quickly turned and followed him. Jordan's room its self wasn't clean but you could see the floor and the bed was made at least.
"And if I don't have the guts?" I said hesitantly stepping into his room and following him with my eyes.
"Jump in." he smiled and walked over to a door and walking through it.
"I'll sleep on the floor."
"Don't be a baby, were both adults and I promise I can keep my hands to myself." I could hear his smirk.
His hands isn't what I was worried about, it was mine. They have already proved that they can't keep to themselves when it comes to Jordan; god knows where they'll end up during the night.
I shivered at the thought although there was a small thrill of picturing where they could end up. On his naked chest, feeling his muscles as they relax in a deep sleep, wondering down to his thigh or even stroking his...
"Hear put this on." He chucked me a black t-shirt to sleep in. "You okay?" he said scrunching up his face and eyeing my cautiously.
"Uh yeah." I quickly walked over to the bathroom and stripped myself of my pencil skirt and shirt and slid his top over my laced panties and bra. Yes, nothing was wrong, just my dirty and perverted mind thinking about feeling you up and touching you in places that may create a bit of sexual tension.
I walked out and saw him pulling the covers back; the muscles in his back tensed and relaxed with his movements as he stood there in nothing but his loose track pants that would be easy to drag down off his hips... Good god girl get your mind out of the gutter! Focus. I looked down at the floor and quickly power walked over to the right side of the bed and slid in, pulling the covers over me and facing the wall. I was right on the edge of the bed and my body extremely tense.
I couldn't stop my mind from focusing on his movements, the way the bed dipped, his slight husky and deep chuckle at my actions. The way his leg brushed against mine as he got comfortable sent a wave of electric shocks through me. My nerves were on full alert, my skin craved to be touched and tickled, my nipples were hard and wanting attention and the wetness building in between my thighs wasn't helping my situation.
I closed my eyes tight and ignored my fingers twitching a little, oh god now I was like Jordan whenever he saw a nice car! Fingers twitching to grab a hold of the keys and take it for a ride – the only difference was that I didn't need keys to take him for a ride.

So I don't know about you guys but that whole idea that your hands do stuff without you really controlling them happens to me all the time, it's like they act before I even have time to process the situation or write a word I wasn't even thinking about and yes even touching very sexy men when they shouldn't be ;)
Hope you all enjoyed this chapter, Mia did!
