Your mother, the strongest person I know

A/n: Vote on the devil arms yes I am saying it again because they will be needed next chapter.

"So your Nero's biological father?"

"Um yes ma'am," Y/n was nervous. He's stared down countless demons that could have easily laid waste to the human population, beat them too. But this human woman staring him down made him feel as intimidating as when Eva or even his own mother scolded him. The table they sat at even though the smell alone would make anyone hungry seeing the food was different.  But even then it felt more like an interrogation from the two parents of the girl who found them, Kyria her name was.

"Oh that's wonderful. Not long after she had Nero she said she had to do something." She spoke again in a tone that immediately seemed to cut all the tension in the room. Nero and Kyria started talking as even Credo was eating although he still kept an eye on Y/n. "You know your awfully younger to be parents but I can't judge much sense we were younger when we had Credo. You must tell me how she's doing."

"She's in hell."

Immediately the temperature dropped in the room as the words left his mouth. Nero's eyes widened in shock as Kyria's mother dropped a plate, and even Credo seemed shocked. Not wanting to pry any further Kyria's mother simply nodded sadly and her husband did the same.

"Well we should remember her as she was."

Nero got up from the table and ran off as his chair fell as he slammed the door shut.

"Nero!" Calls out Kyria as she goes to follow but is stopped by Y/n.

"I'll talk to him," he said running a hand through his hair and let's out a sigh. "Time to be a parent." He says to himself as he approaches the door to leave. When he was outside he thought about where Vermila would go. And looking around he sees exactly the spot.

-scene shift brought to you by younger Credo, even then he looks like a 30 year old-

Nero sat at the edge of a tall building that overlooked the city. He held his knees to his chest. Light tears from his eyes, 'she can't be gone' Nero thought. Nero only had a few memories of his mother but he cherished them, his first memorie was her eyes blue like his with white hair to match. Her eyes held warmth and pride when ever she saw him. Then her voice it was cold and stern but held warmth and love mixed with care. Her scent that always calmed his waling as he was a baby. And lastly her smile it was warm. Warm tears fell from his eyes running as he thought he'd never see it again.

"You should have brought your coat at least."

Nero was surprised as he felt a warm article of clothing drop on him, it wasn't until he felt the article of clothing that he realized he was cold.

"I don't need your help," Nero said even though he was already bundling up in Y/n's coat. Nero then looks up at Y/n as he sat down next to him noticing he was now only in a sleeveless gray shirt and a simple gold chain around his neck. "How'd you even find me?"

"Well call it a hunch but your mother also had a thing about high places that looked down on her surroundings." Nero looked at the man claiming to be his father before scooching slightly closer. Looking over at the man's hands he sees a golden amulet with a red gem on a gold chain.

"So uh.."

"I was hers, the uh amulet." He hands the item to Nero. "She would have wanted you to have it, besides it's a family heirloom it doesn't belong to me anyway."

Nero nervously reached out and grabbed the amulet, holding it gingerly. As Nero held the amulet he noticed a slight hum of energy around it although it was faint and felt incomplete.

"Don't drop it, it's the key to the underworld." Y/n said quickly startling the young boy as Nero held it tightly. The Devil, Angel, human tribrid had a scared look on his face as he wondered how that could be a family heirloom. Y/n gave a small laugh at his son's reaction. "Just messing with you...." He watched as Nero started to relax, "it's only about half of it. And don't worry it can't do much on its own. That's by it's rhythm is kinda funky because it's only half."

"You can feel it too?"

"Yeah it comes with the territory of not being entirely human."

"Not human?!" He said a bit to loudly for the evening, thankfully he caught himself and spoke again but quieter. "What do you mean I thought the people were just mean but you mean I'm actually a demon" Nero spoke with fear in his eyes.

"What no no your not a Devil.... Only roughly half the other half is angel and human." Y/n said "because I am a Nephalem and your mom a half Devil."

"What's a neo plum?" Nero questioned causing Y/n to laugh. Nero was not happy that he was getting laughed at. "Oi what's so funny!"

"Nothing it's...it's just it's Nephalem not neo plum" Y/n said trying to calm his laughter. "It simply means I'm half Devil and half Angel. And it's not as cool as you would think it just means more things try and kill you so I got strong really quick.  You gotta get strong too, to protect your loved ones like a certain auburn haired girl whose name starts with a K."

Nero blushes as he quickly got defensive, "it's not like that were just good friends that's all!"

"Mhmm," the Nephalem have a hum. "you know I wasn't much older than you when I first met your mom."

There was a silence between them for a minute or two before Nero spoke.

"So uh how did you meet my mom?" Nero asked as he huddled slightly closer. Y/n took a deep breath and sighed before recalling the memories.

"Well it was a long time ago I had lost both my parents and I was on the streets for around one and a half years. I didn't have anyone else to go to because everywhere I went there was trouble. I was at a park in Redgrave city and I saw her sitting in a tree reading a book, it wasn't until later I found out it was a book of poems. I thought she looked kinda lonely so I went over to her." He started. "So I go and ask her if she wanted to be friends. She said and I quote 'I don't need friends and if I did they wouldn't be so dirty they look like they live in a mud puddle!'" Y/n said doing his best to imitate Vermila's voice while putting his hands on his hips and straightening his back. These actions earned a small laugh from Nero.

"But the next day I saw she was back in the tree and I was going to go try again but then I remembered what she said, so I took off to go find a creek or something to get the dirt off me."

"But why did you try again? I mean the way it sounds like it seems like she didn't like you, like at all." Nero asked

"Well there was a difference between disliking me, and despising my very existence. Besides I don't think you have much say because if I didn't go back you wouldn't be sitting there." He smirked as he looked at his son. "Anyhow that days meeting ended with me running off because i didn't want to explain why I hadn't had any food in awhile. And for the next couple of weeks I would show up at the tree same as her and we would talk. I got her to open up by asking about what she was reading at the time, William Blake. But it always ended with me leaving because i honestly didn't want her to think down on me, not the one person who stuck around despite my antics and labels. So one day I'm about to leave again and she calls be back. When I turn she shoves a brown paper bag in my hands. And from that day forth we would meet at the park talk eat lunch and then after awhile I was able to convince her to do stuff like climb trees or just play." Y/n sees Nero listening intensely while holding the amulet. "But one day I was attacked at my little hole in the wall which had all the things I was able to save from my home. I was attacked by demons and maybe some chicken people, but anyways I was left there for dead. No one found me and no one was looking at least I thought, days blurred in and out of consciousness. Then a storm hit and I felt so cold I was gonna fall asleep but this time never wake up again. That was until I heard Vermila's voice and then footsteps, last thing I remember was a deep stern but caring voice as I finally passed out. As I came to I saw Vermila by the bed I was put in, then she strong armed me into telling her everything. About what happens, why I was in an alley, and little I could do to resist."

"Then what happened?" Asked Nero.

"Well sense then I was brought into their house by their father and mother as her father's student. I met her brother Dante who helped me drag her on our wacky woohoo adventures. We all three grew close, me and Dante as friends, Vermila and Dante as siblings, as me and Vermila grew closer. I didn't know what I felt at the time. That was until another tragedy struck, but that's not really my story to tell."

"So what was she like?"

"Well in appearance as I'm sure you know you got her hair and eyes. But personality well she was brave, dependable, stern but caring, and even though most would disagree she had an amazing sense of humor. All while always striving to get better." Y/n said as he saw Nero's icy blue eyes start to sparkle abit. "Well Nero in short. Your mother is the strongest person I know."
