Lucy could feel the warmth of the sun's rays delicately touching her face. Her bed felt so cozy and just wanted to continue to settle in the comfort for as long as possible. She could hear the bird's chirping outside and other noises of the Magnolia's early morning bustling.

That nice, relaxing moment lasted only a minute until her head began to pound and stomach churned. The blonde could feel herself begin to shiver, wanting to curl up more to keep warm. Sweat laced her forehead and mind spun dizzily like a top. She coughed loudly that it echoed through the whole house.

Lucy Heartfilia had come down with the flu.

Lucky for her, her rent has been all paid for the month. So, she didn't need to go to the guild today and take a job. She could stay home and rest her aching body. The blonde groaned in protest when the smell of food hit her nose, making her stomach twist in protest.

"Wait..." she thought, processing the information, "Why do I smell food?"

Lucy slowly forced her heavy eyelids open and waited for her blurry vision to clear. The celestial spirit mage could hear quiet noises coming from her right. Once she could see clearly, she turned her head slightly and was met by the smiling faces of two idiots.

Lucy shot up in bed and squealed in fright, not being able to do much more than that. Her stomach hurt too much to forego one of her famous Lucy kicks and head ached to the point she didn't have much energy to sternly lecture her intruders.

"Good morning, Lucy!" Natsu chirped, childishly. He smiled widely before handing over a tray of food, "Happy Best Friend Day!"

"Aye!" Happy happily agreed, floating near Natsu's head. Lucy glared at the two while holding her pounding head. Her brown eyes trailed down at the food on the tray and scrunched her nose in disgust, almost throwing up on her bed.

There was a plate of burnt pancakes with splattered butter eyes and messy syrup beard—thing. She could only guess that it was an attempt at a mouth. On the side, was burnt toast and strawberries. Lastly, there was a bottle of beer sitting in the corner of the tray.

"Natsu burnt all the food. So, when I tried to make it look nice, he just had to come and ruin it even more," Happy explained, pointedly.

"Hey!" Natsu shouted, defensively, "You burnt the toast. Then tried to add a mustache, hair, and unibrow to my smiley-faced pancakes! I tried to fix it afterward!"

"At least, I didn't barbecue the strawberries," Happy replied, snickering.

"They accidentally got caught in the flames when I was trying to re-warm the pancakes!" Natsu huffed back.

"Okay, but why is there a bottle of beer?" The blue exceed asked, confused.

"It was Cana's idea," Natsu answered.

Lucy's eye twitched, removing her hand from her head. She coughed a little to remind herself of her illness.

She could only do one thing.

"Get out," the blonde sneered, not in the mood to deal with her rambunctious friends. Lucy didn't feel well and the awful-smelling food wasn't helping her churning belly.

The blonde winced, groaning when feeling a painful throbbing in her skull. Her body shivered, feeling cold and re-wrapped herself within her bed's blanket.

Natsu and Happy stopped their arguing to look at Lucy. They soon noticed her flushed cheeks, trembling body and tired stature.

"Wow, Lucy. You look more terrible than you usually do," the exceed commented, innocently and jokingly, "Actually, you look like Natsu when he's on a train."

"Shut up, you stupid cat!" Lucy hissed, irritated before laying back down on her bed, "Now, get out!"

"No way!" The dragon slayer denied, excitedly, "We have a whole day planned out. So, get your lazy butt out of bed and get dressed! Right, Happy?"

"Aye, sir!" Happy cheered, enthusiastically, "Unless you want us to dress you in those naughty undi-"

"If you don't shut that trap of yours, I will skin you alive, you perverted cat," Lucy menacingly threaten, sending the blue cat a murderous glare. Happy hid behind Natsu, shaking in fear and felt all the color drain from himself.

"A-Aye," Happy stuttered, terrified of the Celestial Wizard.

"Chill, Luce. He was only joking," the fire mage said before questioning, "On a more serious topic, where do you even find underwear like tha-"

"Natsu!" Lucy yelled, shutting the dragon slayer up, "Does it look like I'm in the mood to deal with you guys today? Please, just go and leave me alone!"

Natsu frowned slightly for a moment before determination and stubbornness flowed through his veins. He shook his head back and forth before grinning, saying, "Not a chance!"

"Why can't you get this simple fact through those thick-headed skulls of yours that I'm sic-" Lucy squealed, cut off when suddenly being carried bridle style out the window.

The blonde shrieked, clutching her arms around Natsu's neck as a way to hold on and not fall. Happy was flying right behind the two wizards.

Lucy felt bile rise up through her throat. She held her trembling hand onto her mouth as a way to keep it from coming out. As much as she was annoyed with her friends, Natsu and Happy didn't need to feel this agony too.

"Of course, if they keep hanging around me then they'll get sick too," Lucy thought, "If they do get sick, then it's not my fault."

"Just you wait, Lucy! Today is going to be awesome!" Natsu cheered.

   "Aye!" Happy replied.

Lucy miserably sighed, not strong enough to fight back and felt another bad headache forming.

{+}{+}{+}

The blonde mage has been in many weird and confusing scenarios before. Whether it was a horrific apocalypse started by a certain perfume troll or mushrooms growing from the top of her friends' heads. She has seen many things...but this had to take the cake.

"W-What are we doing again?" Lucy asked, dressed in a giant strawberry suit and wondering how she was convinced to wear it in the first place. Natsu and Happy hid behind some rocks nearby. The salmon-haired mage poked his head out from behind a rock.

"We're getting some of those special strawberries Erza found," Natsu explained in a whisper.

"But what does me having to wear a giant strawberry suit have to do with anything?" Lucy questioned, tiredly before starting to cough again.

"Remember when Erza told us how she got that strawberry for Asuka's cake?" Natsu began, "The only way we can get the strawberries is with the scent of strawberries and woman to lure in-"

The dragon slayer paused when smelling a familiar stench and felt slight vibrations in the ground. Lucy perked up in realization, remembering the story and began to freak out. Natsu smiled evilly, making Lucy very uncomfortable when he said, "They're coming."

In the distance, a bunch of giant ape-like creatures charged on all four towards the sick celestial wizard.

"Vulcans!" Lucy screeched, running away but was having a hard time getting away in the giant costume. The blonde tripped and fell into a puddle of mud, scaring a small mole minding its business. Lucy tried to stand back up and run again but wasn't able to get back on her feet.

Horror crossed her face once realizing that she was stuck like a turtle laying on the back of its' shell. Brown eyes watched as Vulcans grew closer and closer.

"I'm going to kill you, Salamander!" Lucy yelled in anger, rolling around and flailing what she could of her limbs that were movable.

"Let's go!" Natsu shouted, him and Happy jumping out from their hiding spot. The two began to fight the Vulcans off and knocking them down pretty good until one managed to slip by them.

Lucy shrieked when the ape-like creature picked her up off the ground and happily spun around, saying, "Strawberry women!"

"Natsu!" Lucy called before coughing harshly as her throat began to hurt from being so dry. The dragon slayer heard Lucy's calls and dropped an unconscious Vulcan he held over his head.

Natsu ran over and high-jump-kicked the Vulcan in the head. The green creature grunted in pain and dropped Lucy. The Vulcan laid on the ground unconscious while Natsu caught Lucy.

The salmon-haired mage set his friend down on her feet just as Happy joined the two. Lucy ran off to a few rocks nearby and threw up, going unnoticed by Natsu and Happy.

"Alright! Now, we just gotta wait until one of them wakes up and takes us to the strawberries," Natsu said, digging into a bag he brought along with him. Lucy stumbled back over to the two and slipped off the strawberry costume.

The sickly woman sat down tiredly and groaned, feeling worse than before. She wiped her mouth off with her sleeve, seeing as there was nothing else to wipe off the vomit.

"Where did you guys even get that costume anyway?" Lucy asked, trying to ignore to horrible taste in her mouth.

"We stole it from Erza," Happy answered, pulling out a raw fish from his bag. Lucy's eyes widened, thinking of the worst-case scenario of what Erza would do if she found out that her strawberry costume was stolen. As if knowing Lucy's worry, Natsu turned to the brown-eyed wizard.

"Relax, Luce. We'll get it back to her before she notices it's gone," Natsu reassured before pulling out a container, "Now, you want some cheesecake I found in Erza's fridge?"

"I'll pass. I don't feel like dying today," Lucy said, turning away from the food that made her stomach churn in protest. Then, she thought, "I'm already being tortured by you two."

"Suit yourself!" Natsu said, digging into the cake like the pig he is.

"Oh, yeah!" Happy exclaimed, body perking up and head turning towards Lucy, "I've been meaning to ask you something, Lucy."

   "What?" Lucy muttered, half awake.

"Why are you still in your pajamas?" The exceed asked, pointing at the celestial wizard's clothes. Lucy seemed to wake up a little more. She looked down at her tattered and dirty sleepwear. Lucy groaned once again, forgetting she had them on still.

"Probably, because you two literally dragged me out of my house without giving me a chance to change," Lucy spat, grumpily before coughing into her arm.

"Would you have changed even if I didn't drag you out of the house?" Natsu questioned, shoving two slices of cake into his mouth.

"I would've if I knew you two idiots were going to drag me out of the house no matter what," Lucy replied, hissing at the man. Natsu shrank a little under Lucy's sharp glare and felt himself sweat a little in nervousness.

That's when the Vulcan that harassed Lucy began to wake up.

{+}{+}{+}

"Okay, you guys got your strawberries," Lucy huffed, "Can I go back home now?"

The three arrived back in Magnolia around lunchtime. They somehow returned Erza's strawberry armor without getting caught by the redheaded warrior then went to get lunch.

While Happy and Natsu scarfed down most of the food, Lucy nursed a bowl of soup and tried to eat some of it without getting sick. Her temple was aching so much it felt as if someone was hitting a hammer again her head.

People kept giving her weird stares as the trio walked by. Lucy subconsciously stared at the ground knowing they were all looking at her. She just wanted to go home, take a long warm bath, and put on a different pair of sleepwear. Then, she would nap for the rest of the day (and probably tomorrow as well with the long day she's had).

"No way! We still got some more stuff to do but we're behind schedule. So, let's get to the guild to drop off the strawberries then head out to our next planned event!" Natsu said.

"Yeah!" Happy exclaimed, excitedly. Lucy felt her eye twitch as she continued to stray behind her friends in agony. She knew that if she tried to sneak away, the two would just drag her back. So, her only choice was to survive the day her friends had planned.

"Hopefully, the next thing won't be as bad," the celestial wizard prayed before they arrived at the guild. Natsu and Happy dropped off the few strawberries they collected for Mira while Lucy stayed outside of the guild to wait for them.

Once Natsu and Happy returned, the three were back off to the next event.

{+}{+}{+}

"I'm going to kill you two," the lady shouts, angrily," Horologium narrated his contractor. Lucy was hunkered within her clock spirit and huddled in a blanket. Yet, it didn't stop her from shivering madly and making her nose even runnier than before.

Their next event was fishing. Lucy thought it was going to be a nice, peaceful break until finding herself hiding in a tree within the Boundary Forest from monsters.

Happy and Natsu somehow caught a beast-like fish and was able to drag it out of the forest without many problems (even though it attracted a lot of giant creatures). Then, the two came back an hour later to get Lucy from the tree and out of the forest (Happy making a side comment about how she was a weirdo for looking like a "tree hugger").

Then, they went to a farm to get some milk. The three ended up leaving with a gallon of milk but not before Lucy made her teammates apologize. The idiots thought it would be fun tipping and scaring most of the cattle. That almost ended up with Lucy being ran over by a small charging stampede.

Now, the three were trekking through the snowy mountains of Hakobe to go obtain some Hakobe ice. Lucy didn't know how she was lured into another one of their obscured schemes but here she was.

"Why did I come?" she whines, questioning herself," Horologium narrated Lucy again.

"Relax, Luce. We're almost there," Natsu reassured his best friend, "Trust me, everything is going to be just fine."

"My time is up," the clock spirit announced before disappearing to return to the Spirit World.

Lucy fell into the deep snow and an icy chill hit her skin instantly. The blonde shivered even more, teeth chattering together. She tried to wrap the blanket tighter around her and stand on shaky legs, sniffing when snot began to slowly lag from her nose.

"Great..." Lucy thought, stumbling through the snow to catch up, "I'm probably going to get even worse from being out here."

Natsu looked over his shoulder for a moment to see Lucy struggling with keeping up. Feeling guilty for dragging the celestial wizard out here, the dragon slayer headed back to Lucy. Happy paused in mid-flight, watching confused as to what the salmon-haired male was doing.

"Natsu, where are you going?" The exceed asked. Lucy's head was low as she heaved, exhaustion dragging her down.

   "Hey, Luce."

The blonde mage perked up at the familiar voice of Natsu and raised her head. He was standing about a foot away, back faced towards her. Lucy glared at Natsu but wasn't in any way looking menacing with how weak she looked.

The fire mage pointed to his back, saying, "You can get on. I'll carry you on my back the rest of the way."

Happy and Lucy were both surprised by the offer. Yet, Lucy didn't have any second thoughts before she was being carried on Natsu's back. The blonde could feel a wave of heat radiating off of Natsu's body and leaned her shaking form into the warmth. She buried her face into the back of his shoulder, hiding it from the cold wind that nipped her skin.

"Are you okay, Lucy?" Happy asked, flying near the celestial and fire wizard. Tired brown eyes peeked up a little and gave the worried exceed a small smile of reassurance before going back to hiding her face into Natsu's back.

Happy wasn't too sure about how much he liked that reply but didn't further question it when they finally reached a cave. Natsu listened to the one-sided conversation (as far as he knew) and felt something within his chest grow heavy with worry.

Lucy being quiet for this long without yelling at the two put Natsu off the edge, thinking that this was probably a bad idea. Yet, he would never admit it and let those thoughts disappear when they arrived. A giant grin returned to the dragon slayer's face as the three entered the cave.

"Hakobe ice, here we come!" Natsu shouted.

"Aye, sir!" Happy cheered.

Their cheerfulness was soon shattered when a monster appeared out of nowhere, making it difficult for the team of three to obtain the ice. Natsu was able to quickly get some ice with a special pen that was used last time they came while Happy struggled to carry Lucy. At the time, Lucy lost her blanket but was too busy distracting the monster to care.

While they escaped, the monster created an avalanche to which Happy had to carry both humans to a safer place. The blue cat grew exhausted from all the weight and fell towards the avalanche below.

Natsu, Happy, and Lucy were caught in the man-made disaster, getting covered in the freezing white blanket. The mountains went quiet for only a moment until a blast of fire burst from beneath the layers of snow.

Natsu jumped out of the hole, laughing.

"Yeah! Let's do that again!" The dragon slayer yelled until hearing no reply. The salmon-haired male soon noticed the absence of his friends and began to sniff them out. It didn't take long to find Happy and dig the cat out like Natsu was some dog.

Happy shivered from the cold. His teeth chattered and leaned into Natsu for warmth. Natsu held the exceed close, a surge of empathy swirling within his chest. Yet, his guilt for the blonde-headed mage was even worse considering her condition.

The pink-haired male began to sniff out Lucy. He knew Lucy wasn't feeling the best but he thought she was being over-dramatic as pre-usual. She is a weirdo, after all. Now, the gears in his brain began to turn and realized that maybe...maybe...

Maybe, she had come down with something far worse than what he expected.

And, he still ignored her pleas.

Natsu's nose picked up the familiar scent of strawberries and vanilla. He quickly followed the source of the scent, leading him to a certain spot and digging up the snow with one arm blazing with fire.

The fire mage finally caught sight of Lucy's pale face. Her eyes were barely open and lips turning a slight blue. Brown eyes that held a joyous sparkle were a dull void.

"Lucy," Natsu gasped, digging up the rest of his teammate and dragging her out of the hole. He could feel the celestial wizard trembling against his body, trying to get warm. A stinging pain pinched at his soul for being so reckless.

"Lucy..." Natsu spoke once again in a softer tone, something within his chest tightening, "...I'm sorry."

There was no response. Only the chilling wind filled his ears, making the atmosphere more lonesome. Natsu gritted his teeth, growling at himself for being so stupid. He placed the celestial wizard on his back and carried Happy with one arm. So, he began his long trek back to the guild, back to their home.

{+}{+}{+}

Lucy's eyes slowly fluttered open, eyes adjusting to the lighting of the area. She could feel the softness and warmth of whatever she was laying on. She could only remember snow before everything went black.

"What happened?" She thought until shooting her eyes open, wide awake. The mage shot out of bed and ran into the bathroom, throwing up into the toilet bowl. Once she was done, she coughed harshly and tried to regain her breath. Lucy felt even worse than before.

Feeling slightly pathetic and very tired, Lucy sat down leaning up against the wall for support. Her body was shaking even more and ached to the point she could hardly move a muscle after settling.

Yet, the blonde forced her limbs to work and stood up from the bathroom's floor. She stumbled to the doorframe, holding onto it for a moment to rest.

   "Lucy," a voice called.

Brown eyes looked over to meet onyx green. The two stared at each other for a moment, one in confusion and the other in concern. Suddenly, all the memories hit like a typhoon. Lucy's sickly state soon melted into rage, hands gripping the doorframe tightly. She suddenly found the strength to stand without help.

Natsu walked over to Lucy while saying, "Come on. You gotta get back to bed and rest."

He froze when Lucy gave him a cold glare filled with anger. The salmon-haired man paused in his advances towards Lucy when seeing the clear warning.

   Don't get any closer.

Lucy let go of the doorframe and stood straight as if she was never gravely ill.

"Natsu Dragneel, you are the biggest idiot in all of Earth Land," Lucy sneered, "You knew that I was sick but still risked my health for your own selfish needs. Now look at me, I'm even worse than I was before. This is all your faul...fau..."

All of Lucy's energy instantly depleted and a dizzy spell fell upon her. Her legs began to tremble, turning into jelly and stumbled a bit. The blonde mage thought she was going to fall onto the wooden floor and return to the world of unconsciousness.

Natsu caught her though.

His arms wrapped around Lucy's frame and rested her head in the nook of his neck, body leaning against his. The dragon slayer was still for a moment, his eyes trained guiltily on the celestial wizard. He could feel the abnormal difference in Lucy's body heat and the slight trembling of her body.

Natsu sighed before carrying her back to bed bridle style.

Natsu laid Lucy down on her bed and pulled the blanket up to her chin. His bangs cast a shadow over his eyes before growling in frustration and punching the nearest wall. Happy watched the whole scene from the door, ears drooping in sadness.

Once Happy saw Natsu suddenly get up and headed straight for Lucy's bedroom, he followed. The exceed made it to the doorframe before halting when hearing yelling. He grew scared when seeing Lucy practically snarling at Natsu as if he were a villain.

Happy and Natsu have been through Lucy's overdramatic freakouts tons of times but never like this. What made this all the more heartbreaking, was the look Natsu was giving. Happy knew that mask anywhere and all too well.

Happy could see the guilt, the hurt. It didn't take rocket science to figure out that this pained his pal pretty badly. But, he would put on a blank-slate facade to cover it all up.

Natsu punched the wall, scaring Happy again.

   Happy decided to intervene.

"Natsu..." the blue cat called, carefully. The fire mage looked over his shoulder to see his trembling buddy. He relaxed before walking towards Happy and picking him up. The salmon-haired male cracked a forced grin, saying, "Let's give Lucy some space to rest. Okay, buddy?"

   Happy frowned.

"We can go fishing and the biggest fish I catch, I'll let you have," Natsu bargained, walking out the door. Happy looked towards the ground.

    "Aye," Happy agreed, unenthusiastically.

For the first time ever, fish was the last thing on Happy's mind.

{+}{+}{+}

Lucy woke up still not feeling well but better than before. She decided to visit the guild and hoped she wouldn't run into Natsu or Happy. She was still mad at them but simmered down once her mind was able to straighten out.

She did feel a little bad for yelling at Natsu but he did deserve it for making her sicker.

The blonde mage opened up the door to the guild and entered the rowdy building. Everyone was doing their usual thing with the people they hang out or teamed up with. This place was like a second home away from home. There was never a dull moment when it came to Fairy Tail.

Lucy scoped the premises for Natsu and Happy but didn't see either of the boys. She happily walked over to the bar and sat at a stool next to Wendy, Charle sat on the other side of the girl.

"Welcome back, Lucy. Are you feeling any better? I heard you had a nasty flu yesterday," Mira greeted with a bright smile as she dried a cup.

"Hey, Mira. I'm still a little under the weather but I'm doing better," Lucy replied to the take-over mage. Wendy turned her head away from Charle in curiosity before smiling when seeing the celestial mage.

"Wow, you look way better than what you did yesterday," The bluenette said, amazed, "You were so ill, I thought it'd take at least two more days for you to recover."

Brown eyes blinked in confusion, asking, "What do you mean?"

Wendy took a sip of her water before answering Lucy's question.

"Natsu and Happy told me you were really sick. So, they brought me to your house and I healed you up the best I could."

Lucy blinked before huffing in agitation, "Yeah, well. If it weren't for those two idiots then I wouldn't have been that sick in the first place. They literally took me out of my room and dragged me around to different areas for the most ridiculous stuff to celebrate something. They over-exerted me to the point that my flu became even worse than before."

"I believe they called it "Best Friend Day," Charle spoke, air quoting the last three words.

"Yeah," Lucy sighed, nodding her head. Mira seemed to be familiar with the words before retreating to the back in search of something without anyone noticing.

"You know..." Wendy began, looking down at her drink whimsically, "...they were really worried about you, especially Natsu. Honestly, I've never seen him look so scared before."

Lucy didn't say anything, staring at the shelves covered with bottles. She mindlessly drummed her fingers on the counter's surface.

"Still, he should've used his head to think for once before leaping into the situation like always," the blonde huffed.

"That's Natsu for ya. Running into the danger without a plan," Wendy joked, causing a ghost of a smile to spread across Lucy's face, "I think you should talk to them. Maybe, they had a reason for doing all of that."

"Yeah..." Lucy spoke, thoughtfully. It was like Natsu and Happy to run in blindly without thinking of theconsequences with only dumb luck and a will to protect those they care for. That's probably why Lucy looked up to them a little bit. She wished she could go into battle smiling and act cocky even if she was losing the battle or scared to death.

   Maybe...she overreacted some?

Groaning, Lucy tried to figure out what she was going to do. She needed to clear her head and go for a long walk. But, she paused when Mira came back out from the back.

"Wait, Lucy!" Mira called. Lucy, Wendy, and Charle all looked over at Mira, who held something in her hands.

"I almost forgot until you mentioned Best Friend Day," Mira explained, placing a glass on the counter, "This is for you, Lucy."

Lucy gave a look of surprise before gazing down at the delicious-looking milkshake.

The milkshake was light pink color with something glittering within the ice cream as well as the whipped cream on top. A cherry was at the tippy top of the entire milkshake and a light green straw was plunged into the side of the glittering whipped cream.

"What's this for?" Lucy asked in astonishment before adding, "I don't have any money on me."

"It's free since I didn't make it," Mira said, winking, "The only thing I did was guide them and keeping the milkshake fresh until you came to the guild."

"Who's them?" The celestial wizard asked before taking a sip of the shake. Lucy perked up in amazement as the flavor settled in her mouth. It was nice and smooth with the sweet taste of strawberries and cool texture of bits of ice collided.

Lucy felt refreshed and healthy again like she was never sick in the first place. She couldn't believe how extraordinary something in a medium-sized glass could taste. This was the best milkshake she has ever had in her entire life!

"Natsu and Happy!" Mira chirped, sweetly and gained Lucy's flabbergasted attention, "They've been planning this with me and some others in the guild for months on how to make this milkshake for you. So, they had taken you to those places to get the ingredients without you knowing somehow. Once finished, the two would've made up an excuse to come and secretly make it before taking you to the park to stargaze with them while enjoying this drink."

Mira had been hiding this for so long she couldn't help but blurt out the entire plan. Yet, she didn't regret it when seeing Lucy's blown reaction.

The take-over mage sighed, "But, things didn't go quite as expected when news of you coming down with the flu infiltrated the plan. It didn't stop Natsu or Happy though."

Lucy's jaw dropped, completely touched by all the effort her friends did for her. Her heart melted in more ways than one and felt a warmth flip in her stomach. No one has ever gone to such extents (without using money) for her before.

It all made sense. Natsu and Happy probably knew that Mira's milkshakes were her favorite drink and decided to make it more special. The strawberries, ice and milk were for the milkshake. Then, she assumed the giant fish was for Happy. She felt guilty, realizing that Natsu didn't get anything back.

Did he plan all of that with Happy, not expecting to get anything in return?

Lucy frowned. She had to do something.

Yet, there was still one more thing bothering her.

"Of all days, why yesterday? What was so special about yesterday to be declared Best Friend Day?" Lucy asked, curiously and tried to think of the reason why. Wendy and Mira glanced at each other before returning to the aspiring novelist.

"We don't know. You'll have to ask the two yourself," Wendy said. Lucy slowly nodded, continuing to drink her milkshake. She began to think of how sweet this gesture was. They probably didn't want to leave her out since they were a team.

A hint of a blush painted her cheeks and the edges of her lips quirked up into a small smile. The celestial mage slid the now empty cup across the counter towards Mira. The white-haired woman graciously took the glass cup and smiled even bigger.

"I think I'll do just that," Lucy said before getting up and heading towards the doors. Mira giggled in joy while Wendy and Charle smiled at the retreating blonde.

{+}{+}{+}

Natsu and Happy hadn't the faintest clue where to go. The two didn't want to go to their small home or the guild. If it weren't for the fact that Lucy was furious at them, the fire mage and blue exceed would've broken into her house already. They would've probably chilled on her couch while eating her food or slept on her bed.

Now, the two mages were sitting on a branch in the Solace Tree. Happy was nibbling on his fish and constantly glancing over at Natsu. The exceed was really worried about his pal, who had been silent ever since they left Lucy's house. Happy tried to cheer him up by offering him a fish, get into a random fight with Grey, or going on a job.

Yet, it seemed nothing was working.

Natsu just continued to be quiet and keep his head lowered. Happy knew there was only one last solution to help the salmon-haired male. The blue cat stood up and spread his wings.

"Uh, Natsu. I'll be right back. I forgot I had to tell Charle something. You can have the rest of my fish," Happy informed the dragon slayer, setting the half-eaten fish on the branch. Natsu stayed silent but Happy knew he heard. Happy flew out of the tree in search of a certain celestial wizard.

It didn't take too long to spot the blonde walking away from the guild with a giant smile gracing her lips. Happy could faintly see pink coloring her cheeks, thinking it had something to do with her fever.

He had to admit, it was a surprise even seeing her at the guildhall with how awful she looked literally just yesterday. Happy was actually heading towards her house, not expecting to look down and see her. Yet, she was skipping around on the sidewalk without a care in the world like the terrible flu never happened in the first place.

Happy flew down from the air, letting gravity pull him down.

"Lucy!" The exceed yelled, catching Lucy's attention. Lucy looked around her until glancing up at the sky. She saw a flash of white and blue before something hit her in the chest. The blonde wrapped her arms around the small figure out of habit and looked down to see Happy all snuggled up against her.

   "Happy, what's wro-"

"We're really really really sorry, Lucy!" Happy apologized, tears and snot flowing down his face, "W-We just wanted t-to do something for y-yesterday since i-it was a sp-special day!"

Brown eyes widened before softening. Lucy began to pet the back of Happy's head and returned the embrace as a way to comfort him.

"It's alright. I'm not mad anymore," Lucy spoke gently before asking, "What was so special about yesterday anyways?

Happy looked up, sniffling before questioning, "You don't know w-what yesterday was?"

Lucy shook her head, utterly confused.

"I haven't got the slightest clue," she said. The blue cat opened his mouth to answer her question before remembering why he was looking for Lucy in the first place. Happy dislodged himself from the woman's arms before saying a hefty, "Come on!"

Confused, Lucy ran after the blue cat and followed him all the way to the park. The sun setting on the horizon just as the two arrived. Happy continued to fly towards the Solace Tree before disappearing into the leaves. The blonde groaned in annoyance, realizing what she had to do.

Lucy began to climb the tree.

She had just made it into the leaves, saying, "Of all places, why are we up in a..."

The words on her lips were lost once seeing the problem. Happy was a few branches higher, watching as Lucy sat on a branch next to Natsu's branch. The dragon slayer didn't seem to notice anything that had happened, caught up in a daze. He wasn't able to hear or even sniff out the blonde next to him, lost within his mind.

Lucy frown deepened. Seeing her fun, lovable partner like this broke her heart into pieces. She felt like a real jerk for yelling at him yesterday. She had every right to yell at him, scold him. But, he only meant well in the end than harm.

"Natsu," Lucy called the fire mage from out of his thoughts. Natsu perked up suddenly and almost fell out of the tree if Lucy hadn't quickly grabbed his arm. The salmon-haired male blinked in surprise, gasping, "L-Lucy!"

Lucy felt her stomach twist when hearing the raspiness of his voice like he had been crying. Once Natsu was sitting back on the branch, Lucy forced herself to let go of his arm. Brown eyes looked down at the grass below, unable to meet onyx eyes. For the first time in a while, she felt self-conscious.

Natsu was frozen on the spot, looking at the grass below as well. The two were left in an awkward silence, no one knowing how to start. Lucy felt something hit her head. She looked up, almost getting poked in the eye by a twig. Brown eyes glared at Happy, who glared right back and gestured to Natsu as if saying "Say something!"

Lucy sighed, knowing he was right.

"Natsu..." she began, softly, "I'm sorry for yelling at you yesterday."

Natsu shot his head towards Lucy in shock before quickly saying, "No, you're right! It was all my fault. I should've just left you alone!"

"No, it's alright," Lucy said, smiling, "You meant well in the end. I know that now. You just wanted to include me since we're a team for some special occasion that I'm still unaware of. You even helped get rid of the rest of my flu thanks to that milkshake. So, I should be thanking you both."

Natsu's eyes were completely wide. He didn't know what to say. Instead, he relaxed his stiff shoulders and grinned from cheek to cheek. The sun was long gone and the stars began to shine in the night sky.

"I guess Mira told you our plan then?" Natsu questioned, receiving the expected nod.

"Yeah, that was very sweet of you guys for going through all that trouble just for me. I feel like I should do something in return, especially you Natsu," the blonde replied, stargazing through the leaves. Natsu almost went speechless before he shook his head, "You don't need too. After what we put you through, I'd say we're even."

Lucy chuckled.

"Still, I feel bad. Is there anything I can do for you two?" She asked, thinking of any possible ways to repay the exceed and dragon slayer.

"Anything?" Happy slyly probed, seeing the unsuspecting celestial wizard nod. If Happy knew anything about celestial wizards, it is that they never go back on their word.

"Since you two obviously love each other..." Happy teased, extending the word "love." This made Lucy irritated but decided not to yell. Natsu raised an eyebrow at his small friend up in the tree.

The cat continued, "...fulfill Asuka's wish but Lucy has to kiss Natsu instead."

Happy laughed when seeing Lucy's face turn redder than a tomato from embarrassment. Natsu shook his head in disbelief and rolled his eyes. He smirked, "Well, it won't kill us..."

"Yeah..." Lucy accidentally agreed before realizing what she said, "Wait! Don't listen to that deranged cat!"

Natsu laughed, patting Lucy's shoulder.

"We're just kidding, Luce," The fire mage said, making Lucy relax and feel a little disappointed. Shaking off her embarrassment, Lucy threatened, "You better be careful before I push you both out of this tree."

Once Natsu and Happy's laughter finally calmed down, Lucy asked, "What was special about yesterday though? I keep asking but no one either knows or doesn't answer."

Natsu smiled at Lucy, answering her question.

"Really? You don't remember? Yesterday was the day we first met you in Hargeon and became friends."

Lucy felt her heart warm up. She couldn't believe they remembered something like that and planned months ahead to make the day more worthwhile.

The celestial wizard felt her eyes become watery. She raised an arm and wiped her eyes while sniffling. Natsu and Happy began to panic at their friend's sudden emotional change.

"Why are you crying, Lucy?" Happy asked before yelling at Natsu, "Natsu! Apologize for hurting Lucy's feelings!"

"What?!" Natsu shouted back defensively, "I didn't do anything...I think."

The two continued to jabber back and forth, making Lucy laugh. She wiped an escaped tear away just as Happy and Natsu looked at her, confused as to why she was laughing.

"You guys are the best, you know?" The blonde sniffled.

"Aye, sir!" Happy cheered, proudly.

"Of course we are or else we wouldn't be your friends," Natsu replied. Lucy leaned over, about to give Natsu a hug but it was too much. The celestial mage fell off of the branch instead.

"Lucy!" The salmon-haired male yelled, catching her wrist and was instantly pulled off his branch as well. Happy wasn't quick enough to catch to the other two human mages. Yet, Natsu was able to cushion the landing for Lucy, holding her close. Lucy held on just as tightly before landing on the ground.

Natsu was laid out on the grassy floor while Lucy was resting on top of him. Neither wanted to move.

"They love each other!" Happy's teasing voice echoed in the night. Yet, Natsu and Lucy weren't paying any attention to him. Lucy continued to rest her head on Natsu's chest, loving how comfortable she was in his arms.

It felt both strange and nice at the same time.

"You know...you can get off of me at any time now, you weirdo," Lucy heard Natsu say. Lucy sat up instantly, straddling Natsu.

Before the blonde could freak out and jump off the dragon slayer, her brown eyes caught a little bit of pink in his cheeks. She also noticed that he wouldn't meet her in the eyes, looking off in a different direction.

Lucy smiled, bending down again and placed a sweet kiss on Natsu's cheek. Natsu felt all the air leave him in the instant Lucy's lips touched his cheek. His face grew a darker shade of pink, eyes wide in shock. He raised his hand to touch the spot she kissed subconsciously, brushing his fingers over it.

Lucy finally got off of Natsu and sat in the grass, looking up at the stars. Natsu sat up and joined the celestial wizard. Happy floated down from the tree and sat on Lucy's lap, earning some pets from the woman herself.

All was right in that moment.
