12 | POTTER AND VELASQUEZ

ESTRELLA LOOKED AT Neville as he picked up a planet from the water. He showed it to her while Harry just stared at her. The sun was hitting her from behind, causing an glow around her. It was when she turned around to face him that he realized she was calling out to him.

"You okay?" She asked hi curiously, fixing her bun.

"Yeah...yes!" Harry replied back to her. Estrella sent him a small smile in return and turned to touch the plant Neville was clearly holding.

She took it back in disgust, flitching at its texture. Neville chuckled at her. "Que asco..." Estrella said to herself putting her hands on the water to clean them.(Disgusting) She stopped when she something move behind a bush.

"What is it?" Neville asked her, seeing her frozen on her spot.

Estrella motioning him to be quiet and made her way out of lake. Then she knelt in front of a bush quietly, spotting the well known fur. "Hi fella..." Estrella said, keeping her voice as low as possible. Harry frowned, watching her put her hand between the edge of the bush and herself.

Then they heard like ruffled inside the bush. "It's okay..." She said to it, and then a baby niffler came out of the bush looking up at her. She smiled, taking out her necklace and showing it to it. Then she moved it from side to side, and the niffler reached for it but stopped.

Then she took a closer look while still holding the shiny object. It's paw had a large cut. "Niffler..." Neville said, seeing her scoop it up before it ran away. Estrella continued to move, trying to find it's mother.

Estrella sighed, looking down the creature. "It's hurt." She said to them, walking back to were Neville and Harry were. She raised the injured paw to them. The niffler became restless and she cuddle it with ease.

"How did spot it from afar?" He questioned her.

She let out a small laugh, tickling the niffler's head. The baby looked beyond happy by all the attention it was getting. "I used to help Newt with his creatures. He taught me how to treat them, especially with injuries like this. It's a bit little to be getting as hurt as it is now, but nothing serious." Estrella said to him.

Harry looked confused at her as well. "He is the family friend in one of the photos. He was friends with my mom and dad....he caught me chasing a niffler once and told me to be more gentle or I will scare it. I didn't want to frighten the poor fellow. I just wanted to look at it. We don't have them in the muggle word." Estrella replied, letting the niffler be held on her arm. "As they grow older they are a bit less mischievous. Harmless really." Estrella said to him.

"That's why you so good at Hagrid's lessons." Neville complimented her.

"Yeah, he is gone now. I miss him every day...You will have liked him Neville." Estrella said to him as she let the baby niffler play with her necklace.

"They steal shiny stuff." Estrella said to them. "But you can recover them if you know how to." She quickly added before sitting opposite to Harry. Then she raised the niffler to him. "Do you want to hold him?" She asked curiously.

Harry shook his head at her, but smiled nonetheless. "Just don't tell any of the Professors...we aren't supposed to

"Can you be spelled by a niffler?" Neville asked her.

"I don't know, and I am not going to risk it. But this fella needs my help." Estrella said, raising the niffler up to her face. "I think I got something to clean it's paw in my bag. Will you pass it over Harry?" She asked him.

"Yeah." Harry said, handling it back to her.

Neville cheered at his spot, pulling out another plant. "I found this one in the book Professor Moody gave me during tea time." Neville said to them. He showed it to Estrella who looked at it, but there was still some concern in her eyes. "Why you got that look for? I thought you will like it?" Neville asked her.

Estrella sighed, looking down at the creature who was struggling to keep its eyes open. "Can you pass me my sweater Harry?" She whispered to him. Then she turned to Neville. "I...I don't judge others...It's nice that he gave you the book, but how cruel he was to the spider." Estrella said to him. "Something seems off though...I don't know what it is." She explained to him.

She felt Harry wrap the sweater around her before going to seat back into the tree. However it seemed as their peace will be broken once more. "Harry!" Hermione yelled as she sped down to the lake with Ginny and Ron.

Estrella moved the sweater from her shoulders and wrapped it on the niffler. Finally turned when she saw Neville wave back at them. "Hi Mione," Estrella said to her. When she looked up she able to see Ron and Ginny behind her.

Hermione sighed, whispering between Ron and Ginny before stepping closing to them. Harry stood up and turned to her. He sighed when he looked at Ron, who just avoided his gaze. Hemione walked back to Ron. "Ron, this is your problem, not mine....What do you want me to say again?"  She whispered to him.

The brunette walked to Harry with an annoyed look. "Ronald will like me to tell you that Seamus told him that Dean was told by Parvati that Hagrid's looking for you." Hermione said to him.

Harry scoffed at her. "Is that right? Well...What?" He began but stopped when he processed her words. Why wouldn't Hagrid tell it himself.

Hermione sighed, repeating her words in her head. "Dean....please don't ask me to say it again. Hagrid's is looking for you." Hermione said to him.

"Well, you can tell Ronald...." Harry began but Hermione cut him off.

"I am not an owl!" Hermione snapped before making her way up to the castle with Ginny and Ron behind her. However, she was half-way there when she frozen.

She sped walk to where Estrella was sitting. "What you got there?" She asked, finally realizing there was something flurry in her arms apart from her sweater.

Estrella looked down at the niffler who was now sleep and then up to Hermione. "It's hurt and I will ask you to keep it shut. Please." Estrella said to her.

"What is it?" Hermione asked casually.

"A baby niffler." Estrella answered unsurely. Hermione nodded at her before walking up to the castle. Ron glared at Harry for as long as he could before following the other two witches. Estrella sighed, quickly picking up her stuff.

"Bye Harry! Bye Neville!" Then she stopped half way through her process. "Are we still good for Wednesday Neville?" she asked him. He nodded back at her as she sent him a quick smile before going up the castle.

"What are you two doing on Wednesday?" Harry asked him curiously.

"I am tutoring her in Herbology." Neville commented with a smile before turning back to his plants.

Estrella caught up quickly to Ron, and took a hold of his arm. The boy was more than startle by it. "What's your problem?" She asked him.

"What?" Ron asked her.

"Harry is your friend. He didn't asked for it." Estrella said as she continued to walk with the niffler in another arm. "He is your best friend." She emphasized.

"You are my best friend." Ron replied back to her.

"I know." Estrella said to him. "But what I am trying to say is how you should be talking to him. Stuck up your pride and accept the things are. He misses you and you do too. Yes, I am your best friend, but you talk about, your own stuff. I don't know what you two talk about, but you do so that's the point." Estrella said to him.

Then she stopped in front of him, blocking his path. "We don't know how much time we got left for the ones we love. You don't know...you don't know when that's going to end. They are there, and we take it for granted. Then in a blink of an eye they are gone. We are alone." She said, her voice breaking a little.

Ron sighed, moving the sweater so that the niffler was better hidden. "Thank you." She mumbled. Then she met up Ron's eyes with difficulty. "You don't know when you run out of time. No one does." She said with difficulty before walking quickly away from the scene.

. . .

Harry passed through the Hogwarts's halls in a hurry. Hagrid had informed him of his first task: dragons. Part of him wanted to not tell Estrella, but since Ron wasn't talking to him at all, and Hermione dividing her time between them; Estrella was the last option.

He avoided the looks other students were giving him. It is then that he noticed the pin they were wearing 'Potter Stinks'. He clenched his jaw, holding himself back.

Estrella leant behind a wall, looking at all the incoming students with a Potter Stinks badge. When she spotted the next one, she sent out a spell, causing the badge to catch on fire. For the most part, she had gotten all the other badges to actually stink, forcing some students to take it off.

She smirked, seeing Pansy walk down the hall with her own badge. This one was going to be fun. Estrella waited until she was close enough, and then used the levitation spell to place Pansy's robe on top of her head. Pansy screamed in annoyance, losing sight of where she was. Then she tripped with a bench and fell.

"What you doing?" Someone said behind her. Estrella hid her wand behind her and turned to look at Harry.  However, when she realized it was Harry she relaxed.

"Nothing." She said to him while looking back at the set of students were throwing down their Potter Stinks into the trash.

"I needed to talk to you. I know what the first task is." Harry said to her. Estrella turned her attention back to him. "I just...I need your help, but I can't have you panicking now." Harry whispered to her.

Estrella played with her wand. "What do you mean panic?" She asked him.

Harry sighed. "It's dragons, but you are good at magical creatures." Harry said quickly before she overthink it.

"What! No, I don't know how to treat dragons. I couldn't bring them to my home. I only treat the ones that I could." Estrella said to him quickly.

Now it was Harry's time to be confused. "You got creatures in your home?" Harry asked her in shocked. "This isn't the first niffler you have helped?" Harry quietly said.

Estrella looked over her shoulder to see if the coast was clear. "I might...I might have bought some back with me...and never left. I mean, there is Oswald but he is bigger. But please don't tell Ron or Mrs. Weasley. I don't want them to freak out." Estrella said to him.

"Oswald? Is it a niffler?" He asked her.

Estrella moved from side to side with a shy smile. "No, that was Rose and Pumpkin. They are with me...sort of. I just make sure that I check they haven't taken anything from them." Estrella admitted to him. "If anyone finds out, I am in trouble Harry. Please." She pleaded with him.

"What is Oswald?" Harry asked urgently.

"A demiguise." Estrella said to him shyly. Harry opened his mouth and closed it quickly trying to process her words. "See...things that I can handle and aren't as dangerous. I mean, my friend Newt thought they were fine. It took a bit of convincing from my mom of course, but I kept hiding them and...well. He apparently had done the same." Estrella thought back at the older wizard who had showed her the wonders of the magical creatures. She gave Harry a sad smile. "He was really good a drawing so he will draw the creatures for memory and use it as an example. Apparently I was too young to get close to some of them. Although, he once helped a dragon and took me with him. But it was sleep." Estrella continued to rambled.

"So you have seen a dragon? Know about them?" Harry asked her.

"Yes, but I also know they are extremely dangerous." Estrella answered him. "Are they real dragons? How big are they?" She asked him.

Harry took one step closer to her. "Ella, they are real dragons! Breathing fire!" He said to her with a panic voice. Then he added sound effects of them breathing fire. Estrella paled drastically at the information .

He looked over her shoulder at the courtyard. "I need to warn Cedric. Do you know where he is?" He asked her.

"He is in the courtyard." She told him, picking up the bag from the floor. But when she was about to talk to him, she realized he was long gone. She swore loudly, quickly catching Harry who had already pulled Cedric away from his group.

Estrella stopped next to Harry. "Hi Cedric." She greeted him nicely. But before she could add anything else, Harry had taken off once more. She sighed, looking up to him. "Harry, he wanted to warn you about...umm." She was trying to come up with the right way to say it.

"Dragons." Cedric finished for her. He sent her a kind smile.

"Yeah." She said to him.  "Are...are they common in magical world?" She asked with him with some hesitation. But it soon faded when she saw Cedric was more than happy to answer her.

"Not in all cities, but they are. In some countries more than others." Cedric told her.

"Do they attack villages like in the fairy tales? You know what those are?" Estrella asked him.

Cedric chuckled at her. "Yes, The Tales of Beedle The Bard." Cedric answered her. "Do yours talk about villages being attacked by dragons?" He asked her curiously.

Estrella nodded in excitement. "Yes, and knights, kingdoms and Merlin too. We got thousands of them." Estrella said to them.

"We can make a deal. I lend you my copy of The Tales of Beedle The Bard, and you lend me yours." Cedric said to her.

"Okay." Estrella said, shaking his head. However her smile faded when she saw Harry fighting with Ron down the hall. "I got to, but see you around." She said as she walked backwards to were Harry was.

The brunette stopped in the middle of the fight, which was mostly deadly glares sent either way. "Back up." She cautiously said to both of them.

However all Harry could feel was anger towards his friend. "You were right you foul git. Did you know that?" He snapped at him. Estrella stayed quietly, her eyes darting between her two friends.

"You think so?" Ron replied, but he seemed a bit more calmer than before.

"I know so." Harry snapped back at him.

"Anything else?" Ron sighed, already motioning to Seamus to bail out.

"Yeah, stay away from me." Harry snapped at him. Ron bumped shoulders against him on his way out. But Estrella didn't miss the regretful look he was sending her way.

Estrella turned to Harry. "Will you stop running off." Estrella said to him.

"Stop..." He stopped himself, realizing that he was going to take his anger on the wrong person. He took deep breath as Estrella linked arms with him. She bought him into a half hug. "I am sorry." He mumbled to her.

Just as Harry was calming down, the blonde Slytherin boy had to step in. "Why so tense, Potter? My father and I have a bet you see? I don't think you are going to last ten minutes in this tournament. He disagrees. He thinks you will only last five." Draco said to him from behind.

Estrella turned along with Harry. She sent him a glare herself. "Malfoy..." She began, but he just chuckled.

"Ella you got more chances on wining a thousand galleons than Potter winning the first task." Draco said to her with a smirk. However, it soon wavered when he realized what he had called her. So did she.

The brunette was frozen on her spot, wondering what Draco had called her by her name. But Harry wasn't. He was so tempted to duel with him, but he had more pressing issues.

"I don't give a damn of what your father thinks. He is vile and cruel and you are just pathetic." Harry snapped at Draco before turning around. He was was about to pull Estrella with him when Draco pulled out his own wand.

"Pathetic?" Draco asked as he positioned himself to send Harry a hex, but he never did.

Poof!

Estrella's eyes widen when she saw a white ferret were Draco stood. Harry turned around, seeing the ferret pace around in panic. Professor Moody made his wade to the scene with a smirk on his face.

"Ay dios..." Estrella said before a laugh scape her lips (Oh my god). She watched how the ferret ran up both of Crabbe and Goyle's pants. It paced in panic. Professor Moody pointed his wand once more and raised the ferret into the air.

"Pulling wand behind someone's back!" He said as he moved the ferret up and down in the air. Harry was quick to laugh as well at the scene. It didn't take long for it to become the center of attention, including Professor's McGonagall's.

The professor stopped when she saw the white ferret. "Is that a....is that a student?" She questioned in panic, which made Estrella laugh even harder.

"Technically is a ferret." Professor Moody casually said. Estrella held to Harry for support as she held her torso. Her entire body shook with laughter.

Professor McGonagall took her own wand and bought Malfoy back into his human form. Malfoy rose with hesitation feeling all his eyes on him. He glared at Moody. "My father will hear about this." He said to him.

Professor Moody then raised his wand once more. "Is that a threat?" He questioned him before chasing Draco around the yard.

"Run Draco! Run!" Estrella yelled, watching him scatter out of the courtyard along with his goons. She shared another laugh with Harry. "Please don't let me forget this." She said to him.

"Never." Harry said to her with a giant smile of his own.

Professor McGonagall called out Moody before he could chase Draco even more. "Alastor!" She snapped. "We never use transfiguration as a punishment! Surely Dumbledore told you that." She said sternly to him. Never in all her years of teaching she had seen such a sight.

Professor Moody shrugged. "Sure, he might have mentioned it." He said to her.

"Well, you better remember that." She replied to him sternly before motioning everyone to disperse.

"Need a word with you Harry." Professor Moody said to him.

Estrella let go of his hand. "Go, I will meet you later at the library." Estrella whispered to him. Harry sent her one last smile before following Professor Moody out of the courtyard. Estrella was about to walk away when she felt someone next to her.

The brunette sent Cedric a bright smile. "Hi, no time not see." She joked. Cedric chuckled at her.

He was silent for a couple of seconds, thinking about what words to use. But Estrella patiently waited for him. This is something that he appreciated. "Do you trust Harry's words?" Cedric asked her.

Now it was her moment to be silent. "I do. But you trust mine more than him." She stated.

"Well, yeah." Cedric replied. "We are friends." He admitted to her.

Estrella smiled at him, her eyes shining more than usual. "Yeah, that's nice. We are friends." She said to him, easing his worries. "Harry found out that the first task are dragons. He wanted for you to be just as prepare as him." Estrella said to him.

She thought back at last year when she had followed Harry into the Forbidden Forest despite her fear of the dark. "I trust him with my life. I don't do that with others." Estrella explained to him. "But if continue to being friends, I might trust you too." She said with a small smirk.

"I will be honor. You will see, I will live up to it." Cedric said to her, sharing the same smile. "I heard rumors that you are good at dueling. I might need your help with the next task." Cedric said to her in thought.

"I don't listen to rumors." Estrella noted.

"Well, neither do I. But saying that I saw you send McLaggen across the hall would have seem a bit too abrupt to the conversation." He honestly said. Estrella laughed in response.

"Yeah, I am good. Although, I don't know what they are teaching your year." Estrella noted.

Cedric this time was the one who smirked. "It not like you wouldn't learn them." Cedric said to her. Estrella smiled brightly at him. "Although, I will get an earful from Professor Sprout if she caught you using advanced spells after it." Cedric warned her, but Estrella just smirked back as she saw the mischief in his eyes.

"Oh, she wouldn't. Trust me. I have gotten away with worse." Estrella said to him. The two of them shook hands, sealing the deal.
