pause the Music!
All of us were crammed into the auditorium. After many heavy showers today over the island, the clouds were dark and dense. As the weather unleashed massive lightning strikes and thunder that sounded like the Hulk tearing across a field, everything had a dark blue hue about it.
All of DeeJay's siblings were present, and I could tell that the news had disheartened them all. When they spoke about the incident on television, the reporter had to cut off the cameras due to how overcome with emotion and tears they were. They were heartbroken and in shock that their own mother would do such a thing. They hadn't even been to see her. And although many people sympathized with them, others took advantage of their predicament to spread rumors and make fun of the family. The eldest sister started the process of selling the house because of all of this as well as the trauma and memories of what transpired within. She was now looking into moving to a different country for the betterment of her family.
On the podium today, Babylon was delivering a presentation and discussing the situation. He had fought for a few weeks in court and prevailed. The judge's sentence decision would be passed tomorrow morning. Babylon talked without attempting to say anything particularly upsetting or direct. Everyone sat quietly and with attentiveness and some's eyes wondered to the spot the sisters sat. When Babylon had finished speaking, he turned to look at the audience's rear and saw his father's ghost, who was proudly watching him with tears in his eyes. He indicated his pride in Babylon by nodding his head and giving him a salute. As Babylon grinned and realized that he felt complete, he nearly started crying. His story was coming to an end.
The five of us were seated in our customary positions and watching, grinning with relief that everything was finished and that we could shove it in everyone else's face that their hypotheses were all false. Plus, we were all patting ourselves on the back secretly since we had solved all of this. But a lot more would unfold as changes in our lives came as the year winded down into the summer.
The connection between Carson and Dustin was strengthening. Beth's brother was recovering quickly and would shortly require just one more surgery. I had also started thinking of creative ways to notify my mother and sister of my transition. I thought it would be better to ease into it slowly since I was sick of hiding and lying. And Mandy, well let the scene tell you all you need to know.
Looking out of the auditorium, Mandy saw Gibbs arriving in the school with a thick file of papers on a bus. She had to figure out why he was here so she quickly slipping out, telling Beth, who was in-charge of our class since she's the prefect that she would be going to the bathroom. She pulled Gary to the back of the building and the two shared a smile once they were in close proximity.
"What are you doing here?"
"This was supposed to be a surprise but... I'm transferring to this school!"
"Wait oh my god! That's great!"
"Yeah! Last year I came here with my school on a trip for the reading convention and I've been trying to get in ever since. DeeJay was one of the people I met first he was trying to help me find my class after we got separated. We were both so distraught. Plus, I also wanted to be closer to you"
Mandy blushed.
"Did you see my message about what I wanted to talk to you about by the way Gibbs?"
"Yes. And I wanted to let you know to not threat. Do not think that I will ever want to do it before you're ready or even if you don't want to at all. It's not that big of deal. I want you. Not anything else"
The two smiled and giggled then hugged tightly. And after saying good bye to each other they separated and Mandy piled back into the auditorium.
They dismissed us after prayers seeing that the assembly had taken up the final two periods of the school day. We went to our homeroom to grab our belongings as the rain wrote it's last sentence of its novel onto the pavement. And Dustin packed up Carson's bag for him and even placed it on his back as the two walked out together meeting up with the three of us. The moment we exited the building and started down the road toward the town, Babylon pulled his truck up in front of us and offered to take us home. He had brought a new pickup in blazing red because the department had paid him highly for the case. He offered to give us a ride around and buy us some milkshakes, so of course we jumped in with a smile on our faces. And we felt safe as we rode off talking about the school day and chuckling with Babylon almost feeling the presence of DeeJay with us.
But, we weren't safe. At all. In the back of the truck laying down on their stomach to not be seen was none other than Masquerade. The individual slowly stooped onto their ankles and elevated their head just enough above the rear glass and used their gloved finger to trace into the dust that had accumulated on the back window "i'M still watching you Motherfuckers!" Could we be safe during the summer vacation that was coming up?...

Only the judge, Babylon, Delia, Dallo, their lawyers and the police who brought them here in handcuffs were anticipated in the courtroom. Clearly, DeeJay's mother had experienced much better days. Dallo wore no trace of compassion. And Babylon, whose leg was restless, suppressed his excitement.
However, tensions increased as the judge took their seat. The cruelty that Dallo had inflicted on DeeJay was beyond comprehension. Delia cursed him and yelled at him for his heinous acts. She even attempted to rush at him in an assault mode, which forced the police to intervene and confine her to her seat. This infuriated the judge, who reacted by using a number of harsh words with both of them. Delia felt like an idiot and a vile individual unworthy of living life anymore.
After everything had calmed down, the judge reviewed the case, the evidence presented by Babylon, and the sparse details that their attorneys had attempted to rebut with. She finished by casting her sentence. Dallo receives a life sentence in jail while DeeJay's mother receives a 20-year sentence with rehabilitation. Case closed.
A huge smooch and wide arms were waiting for Babylon from his wife when he exited the courthouse in the finest mood he had ever been. Babylon stepped forth clutching her, eager to respond to the frantic queries of the media. And based on his words, he could determine that the majority of his illustrious phrases would be used as newspaper headlines.

On a metallic jet black bicycle, rode Masquerade. They rode through BerkVille slowly taking in where our stories were going next.
When Dustin received a text message, he pulled his phone out of his pocket to answer it and grinned because it was from Carson. His uncle had been working with him to rebuild and redesign the treehouse so he was equipped in protective gear under the blazing sun today. Beth was packing her weekend wardrobe into her father's car. For the past couple of weeks she hadn't been to his house out of protest and finally decided to visit because he had apologized. Mandy was using Gibbs as her own personal mannequin and model by seizing him into her room. And he was more than happy. For Dustin's sake, Carson was trying to contact his sponsor about improving. Dustin had complimented him and told him he liked when he was better and he was making it his mission to get off drugs for good for him. And I returned to my room and locked the door. I chickened out on telling my mother once again. It was nerve racking just thinking about doing it so I calmed by joining Gob's minecraft world to finish build the house we had begun working on.
Masquerade rode away content. They had the entire summer to lurk and build their fort from which to attack from. They rode back to their headquarters, which was inside the container that stood next to the one that's in Cole's name. And yes, they knew and watched through an eye sized hole in Cole's the day we found it. They knew our every move. And everything was playing out as expected. Keep watching motherfuckers...
