karMa!

Karma can come at you anyway. It should be considered one of the most deadly forces in the world just because of its mysterious methods and unexpected arrivals. I do believe that people get their karma but I also believe that some evil people die never getting theirs.

But, let's catch up with Beth.

Over the past couple of weeks that Kendrick has been back living with them Beth had remembered why at times he could be a blessing. He would sometimes give them wise advise, teach them to be tougher, crack jokes that had their tummies hurt and bring them to different beautiful areas on the island. I remember those trips vividly.

One that's engraved in my memory is when he brought me, Mandy, Beth and Beth's brothers to a tiny forest in the most hilly side of the island. He brought us there each day for around three months and it wasn't for anything kids should be doing. He brought us there to practice using guns.

He taught us how to use them, shoot and safety when using and shooting with them. His teaching style was hardcore and hands-on and at times when we wouldn't do it right he would fume. Beth's brothers picked up on it rather quickly and Mandy followed right behind them. They increasingly began to tease me because I couldn't catch on and was hawking at the fact that a girl was beating me at it. I hated it and just to prove them wrong I learned how to use it even better than all of them in two weeks after that. One thing I'll never back down from is a competition.

Taking all this into account Beth still couldn't bring herself to ever forgive him. And neither can I, he's sick and twisted. I dont even claim him as my uncle. Never did, never will.

It's Sunday. Her mother prepared a lovely spread of cultural dishes to celebrate the occasion with help from Kendrick. They ate until their stomachs were packed and crashed for a while until Beth's mother said that they should drive around whilst she got a few errands done. So they all piled into the car with Kendrick in the driver's seat.

Beth was still deeply scared and uncomfortable to be around him so she sat in the back on the left side with the window rolled down. On the way there he was clearly trying to make up for his past as he went into a deep conversation and opened up to Beth and even tried lightening the mood after by turning on his favorite reggae music. Beth had a soft heart and could feel herself beginning to forage what little sympathy she could get for him little by little. But she forced herself to shut it down by remembering how deceptive he was. He had done this time and time again. Saying he would change and then eventually morphing back into his old self.

They went to Beth's brother's hospital first to present some of the mouthwatering meals they had, and he was in excellent spirits. Every day was a new step for him. But they had to leave quickly since they needed to run certain tests.

Next, Beth's mother needed to get a few things done at the passport office to send him to a different island for a surgery. Kendrick figured he might as well take them to get a treat lower down at the gas station whilst she did that. When they arrived, Beth climbed out of the BMW to go inside quickly hoping to get this done for so she can get back home and catch up on a few homework assignments.

She also wanted to get in and out speedily because she didn't particularly enjoy the smell of gasoline or the typical men that the gas station attracted. She walked through the front of the store, grabbing a few snacks and a sizable packet of Teatime for herself before heading to the rear to fetch Kendrick the Malt he asked her to get for him. But an unpleasant surprise was waiting for her.

She hadn't even noticed that Gary was reaching for a soft drink out of the refrigerator next to her. But he noticed her. He began trying to start up a conversation with her, not even taking the hint that Beth wanted nothing to do with him. He followed her all the way to the front to the line whilst speaking to her although Beth had her back turnt and wasn't responding. Just his presence annoyed her and she didn't want to give him a drop of attention.

She paid for the stuff and began walking out the door but Gary was right behind her. He was now calling out to her and begging her to testify for him at school. He kept pestering her and trying to pull her towards him. He kept pitifully trying to apologize and asking her to try to forgive him whilst he tailed her.

As Kendrick looked up from filling the car with gasoline he noticed the scene and immediately got into action. He dove towards them and posted himself in-front of her. Kendrick was a very tall man with a meaty body and stomach, locs that extended to his feet and eyes that could frighten Satan himself. But Gary persisted.

"I don't know what's going on here but stop tugging on her and pestering her or I'll you little motherfucker!" His booming voice alone had Gary trembling and taking steps backwards.

Kendrick motioned for her to get inside the car, and she did so with a faint smile. Kendrick followed, rolled up the windows, and began driving away. And as the car drove away, Beth couldn't help but grin to herself at the image of a scared Gary. He was uneasy and clearly disarrayed.

But as the car moved along she started to wonder about Kendrick and how odd and disgusting he was. He hit her and her family plenty of times but he would shoot up a building if anyone hurt them the same way. It was like he thought of them as property and dolls that only he could control and play dress up with. That pissed her off even deeper. He's a fucking rat. And karma's a fucking snake.

Kendrick returned to the passport office and picked up their mother, who he informed about what had occurred, so Beth chose to listen to her share of the tapes. They were still in the car when her mother picked her up from the library which is why she forgot about them. Her interest peeked more when she noticed the words "Best Frenemies" carved into the sides of the tape. She hadn't even read our messages in the group chat yet so she didn't know how severe and disturbing the stories on those tapes were. Lord only knows she could've used a heads up.

This story is based on Dustin's ex-friend Rodi. Rodi is a tall, lighter skinned boy at school. He has a huge nose, a bald head and a few crooked teeth. Don't judge a book by its covers though because he is a very smart and witty individual. In fact, he is the only person who was consecutively competing with Carson in grades in our classes. But Carson always came out on top.

DeeJay drew closer to Rodi around the same time he was dating Dustin. DeeJay knew they had a shaky past because of the arguments and disses they would throw at each other at school but still perused because their drama was none of his. Plus Rodi seemed like such a good friend and person in general to be around seeing that they shared the same interests, particularly in Minecraft.

They usually sat with two other boys, Uni and Zade on the lunch table next to ours. Uni is short, extremely skinny, smart and one of the school's only vegans. Zade is also short but athletic, comes from a family with a little money and is of lighter shade just like Uni and Rodi. They were like the other weird kids at school who unlike Dustin and I, the bullies left alone. I was slight friends with them but not that close because to be honest me and the others cracked jokes about them all time, even sometimes to their faces. Don't threat, they made jokes about us too even though they weren't on par with Dustin's.

One day whilst seated at their lunch table DeeJay looked over at ours because he was eyeing Dustin thinking of all the things they had done. But then the sight of him and his gaze circling directly at Rodi made him wonder. What ever happened between the two?

"Rodi, what happened between you and Dustin exactly? If you don't mind me asking"

Rodi's face scrunched up just remembering the events.

"All I'm going to say is that Dustin is a really horrible and terrible person in general and so is anyone who is friends with him especially Tony!"

"Elaborate" chimed in Uni.

"Okay. Dustin and I grew up together..." DeeJay, Uni and Zade sat up, interested while digesting their lunch. "He lives next door to me so obviously we became friends. I really enjoyed being friends with him at first but it seemed like he was two different people at times, you get me?" They all shook their heads. "He and his cousins literally bullied me. They called me names, made me steal snacks from my mother's pantry for them and then leave the aftermath up to me and Dustin wouldn't let me come inside his house if his cousins were upset that I was there. I was their comedic relief and they pestered me. Once Dustin even turned a blind eye to them throwing stones at me. So I tried to get back at him. Remember when he told everyone in class that I stole his game CD?" They shook their heads once again. "Well, I only stole it because I was upset that he would pick verbal fights with me purposely because he knew he could win. So, I stole his CD and scraped it. Then as soon as we got to secondary school it got worse. I think he was mad because I didn't speak to him much or something. He made fun of the car my parents drove and even the fact that my mother is bald because of her alopecia!"

"I never liked Dustin anyways!" Uni said sicked by Dustin's actions and Zade gave a nod to solidify that he agreed with him.

DeeJay pondered on it for a moment and wasn't surprised per say. He knew how Dustin could get and how damaging his words could be but there still was hypocrisy in him for Dustin because of his attraction to him. Does that make him a bad person?

But whilst thinking he hadn't even realized Uni, Rodi and Zade had gotten up and was walking towards our lunch table. Only when he broke from his train of thought did he notice and rushed over. Rodi said a few nasty things to Dustin before spilling his drink whilst the rest of us sat there confused and then began walking away. Rodi noticed DeeJay still standing there.

"DeeJay, lessgo!" and DeeJay followed but still turning back every other second to see the angry intimidating look on Dustin's face.

DeeJay thought the entire thing would blow over by the next day after Dustin reported what happened to a teacher but boy was he wrong. That night whilst DeeJay was washing up the dishes he didn't even know that Rodi had gotten hold of Dustin's number and sent him spiteful messages and he even said "That's why DeeJay is on my side and he doesn't like any of you anyway!". Dustin flipped. He replied to Rodi with even more hateful messages and then sent DeeJay some as well. DeeJay tried explaining and debunking Rodi's lies but Dustin had already made up his mind. And whenever he does, whatever he thinks is right in the moment he does. This is how and why he made fun of DeeJay's father's death and broke up with him.

The next day at school DeeJay pulled Rodi into an empty classroom to discuss matters.

"Why the fuck would you even tell Dustin that knowing I didn't say it?!"

"What's the big deal? I told you what he did to me! I think you should be on my side or are you just a fucking hypocrite?"

"The big deal is I never chose sides! Whatever problems you two have is not mine to share! I don't have to pick sides! Leave me out of this!"

"Soooooooooooooo, you're a hypocrite!"

DeeJay squinted his eye in anger, walked closer to Rodi and looked up at him.

"Tell Dustin I didn't say that shit or I'll fucking kill you!"

But Rodi wasn't intimidated. "Not if I kill you first... I will literally hit you to the back of your head with a desk and go sit in prison you hypocritical bitch!" Then, he walked away backwards slowly whilst peering into DeeJay's retina.

And from that day on, Rodi and Dustin's rivalry got bigger. So big that he was the one who told the sheriff about Dustin and DeeJay's argument to try to get him sent away. He would stop at nothing to bring down Dustin. And DeeJay prayed everyday so that he could get his karma. But he was always a little afraid that Rodi would fulfill his threat and got extra anxious because Rodi had been to his house and knew where his father's gun slept...
