Rest well... don't worry about me... - sure. Beomgyu couldn't fall asleep at least for the next whole hour, thinking about what he said. If he weren't so tired and even more confused after Taehyun's words and kisses, he'd probably not let out such crazy idea. Being by Yeonjun's side without being his lover? Hardly that... the attraction was too strong, he already experienced it pretty intensively. 

Even though Beomgyu definitely hurt Yeonjun, the senior couldn't take it too seriously, because he knew better than no one else that there is no way for them to ignore the magnetic connection of their souls. There wasn't any back door out of it. It was a one-way street. 

Yeonjun was very confident and sure about the outcome... He just didn't want to force Beomgyu to forget about his love to Kai and Taehyun... those feelings and memories were obviously too precious for him to just let go. 

The other part of Beomgyu's thinking was - what should he actually say to Kai? Taehyun told him the youngest just needs to show some effort from his side, to approach him and let him touch his heart again. That itself would be so easy and Beomgyu wished for nothing else than to be able to freely come to Kai and hug him as he used to before. How can he do that without mentioning the name Hyuka hated so much though? 

Well, the doomed boy had really no clue what he's gonna say or do, but meeting Kai eye to eye felt like the most right thing he could start with. 

That's how he ended up here, waiting for his friend next door. 

After closing the front door, Taehyun adjusted his bag on his shoulder in surprise when his eyes suddenly met Beomgyu's. 

He came... Did he decide? The younger really hoped so... and even more hoped for him being the winner, but when Beomgyu started to talk straight away, it didn't seem to be that bright anymore. 

"I know it's hard to accept - it's so shocking, sudden and different for me as well, but- I really do love Yeonjun, Tyun... I simply do."

Taehyun lowered his gaze hearing such unexpectedly confident sounding words. He had never sounded so confident about such things before.

"Despite that fact... I'll go with you and try to talk to Kai. I don't wanna lose you...
None of you," Gyu added, as the big glazy eyes looked into his again. Then he reached out his hand to Tae's and gently grabbed it.

They walked together towards the street where Huening Kai lived. Quiet and insecure... predictions unavailable. The tensed silence before the storm seemed to be the only friend and right move in this crazy checkmate.

Angel of death...

Yeah, the king is so small... pushed in the a1 corner of chessboard with only a stuck bishop by his side.
Kai's large frame and still inaccessible sad look was indeed towering over them alike a rook, when the younger boy slowly approached their little souls.

"Your cute predestined soulmate lives a few streets away," Kai remarked tepidly.

"I wanted to see you," emphasized Beomgyu, feeling the adrenalin in his veins getting him ready to fight back, when Hyuka pulled out his phone with a sudden urge to check on it.

"I said I don't wanna see you though..."

"Till the end of the day," Beomgyu remembered that sentence very well.

"I meant twenty-four hours," Kai mumbled in another quick reaction, gaze stuck to the screen he was scrolling without any actual focus.

"Please, stop it."

The phone ended up back in the belly pocket of a kangaroo hoodie. Huening Kai looked up back at Beomgyu... the bulletproof glaze still covering his eyes, making the older one freeze and bite on his lip.

"Me?"

"I know it all hurts. I hurt you, I know that pretty well because I love you so much and it's torturing me as well. But all that painful stuff around Yeonjun was truth... and I know you wanted to keep on fighting for me till the yesterday's morning. You know I love you, Hyuka. I always did. I just have no clue what to do anymore. Please, I miss you so bad... I need you to help me, I can not forget you."

The more hurt Kai's expression was, the quicker was Beomgyu spilling out all of the desperate words. Please, listen.

"It seemed like you forgot about me quite easily that night though..."

"I didn't! I didn't...," Beomgyu screamed, as he grabbed his head and closed his eyes with a deep breath, making Taehyun still standing by his side wince. "It was just so strong I couldn't resist... I couldn't just run away anymore when I watched him suffer and cry. He is not what he seems..."

It took a moment for Kai to swallow his tears and force the smile. The act that was supposed to protect him before going crazy, made him look that way in result. "So you gave him your everything and the thing he told me about you two being soulmates is simply the truth... perfect! Now I'm taking back my boyfriend, can I?"

Pushing the corners of his mouth into even more faked smirk, Kai grabbed Taehyun's hand and stepped in between the king and bishop to make his way out of this situation. Keeping his broken heart closed before Beomgyu was just too much to handle even for his strong self.

"Hyuka please, this can not separate us," Taehyun pleaded immediately, trying to stop Kai from walking.

"Would you like to date Beomgyu and his cute playboy instead?"

"C'mon, I didn't say anything like that," Tae went on the defensive, "I mean- Beomgyu fell in love with us long before this soulmate thing popped up. I believe him, if he says it's not easy for him neither... just look at him? I know you can feel him and understand... If you'd just open your scared heart again-"

"Wow, you guys know me so well for real," sarcasm could be heard very well in Huening Kai's voice.

"It is obviously not like he can change this kind of destiny, Hyuka." 

"I! Tae, he made me believe that I am his destiny for freakin' years... Then I discovered a crush on you thanks to him as well. But how am I supposed to digest this? And quickly? Let me breathe out..."

Beomgyu was really hoping that he wouldn't have to cry anymore today... but seeing Kai walk away again to no avail, tears choked his throat and he dug his nails into his palms to keep from falling like a house of cards.

"Please, just let me be, Beomgyu... for a while."
