Valentines

Chapter 15

(I assume those of y'all who read the first book know what's about to happen based off the title ;D The wait is finally overr.. after a quick sad scene. XD)

Sayori woke the next morning feeling achy yet numb from head to toe.

She stretched, completely remembering the horrible events of the previous day.

She couldn't go to school today, not like this.

I should... Stop by Dev's house... Like the officer said.

Sayori brushed her hair tiredly, shrugging on her shoes since she hadn't bothered to change her attire.

~~~
She arrived at the address listed on the baggie, taking the key out and inserting it to the door.
Sayori took a deep breath as she opened the door.
She immediately spotted a small wooden box on the coffee table, walking over to it. She had a right to look anywhere, she figured, since Dev could no longer stop her from doing so.
Inside was an assortment of letters and papers, all addressed to Sayori.
She picked one up shakily, beginning to read as she willed herself not to cry.
"Dear Sayori,
You know I'm an addict, right? Well, I've been writing you letters all the time since you were a kid in case I ever kick the bucket. This is one of them." Sayori glanced at the date, December 23rd.
"I hope things work out with you and that Monika girl, or whoever you're into now. I just want you to be happy, love. Next time you see your momma give her a good slap for me for not being there for you. You deserve your momma's love." The next part made Sayori cry.
"If possible, I'd wish you were my baby. But I know I'll never be the mom you need. I'll always be your Aunt Dev. But that doesn't stop me from loving you with all my heart. And I'm sorry I can't be there for you anymore. I really wanted to see you all grown up." Sayori wiped the tears from her eyes.
"Looks like I'm running out of space to write. Sorry, my handwriting always has been really messy. Remember, I'll always love you and I'm watching over you, okay?
Sincerely,
Devon Reeves
(Aka the coolest Aunt ever)" Sayori smiled, putting the letter back in the box along with the others.
She stood, walking into the rooms for anything worth saving.
She decided to take the sapphire necklace Dev wore often, all of Dev's photos from her walls and albums, and the box.
Placing everything into a Wal-Mart sack, she tied it and turned to leave, locking the door after her.
~~~

February came faster than Sayori expected, since she couldn't really focus much after news of her motherly figure's passing.

"Hey, Sayo." Natsuki smiled, determined to cheer her friend up.

"Hey, Nat." Sayori smiled softly, her happiness slowly returning with each passing day.

"You feeling better?" Natsuki asked.

"A lot, actually." Sayori beamed.

"That's great!" Natsuki patted her back.

"So, are you gonna get Yuri a Valentine's gift?" Sayori asked in a teasing tone, nudging Natsuki's shoulder with her own.

"Are you gonna get Park something?" Natsuki teased back, blushing softly.

"M-Maybe." Sayori said defiantly, blushing a bit more than her friend.

"Well, you should. I love the look on Park's face when she's around you." Natsuki chuckled with a smirk as Sayori blushed deeper.

"S-She doesn't like me!" Sayori insisted.

"Sure. And you don't like her." Natsuki rolled her with a grin.

"Shut it!" Sayori lightly smacked her arm.

The two made their way to class.

~~~
February 14th came too quickly for Sayori's nerves to handle as she made her way towards the school with gifts in her bag.
Monika had a gift, too. Though just one.
Monika had received countless gifts from under and upperclassmen alike, though she didn't really care for any of the measly cards or chocolates they offered.
She only wanted one gift. A gift from Sayori.
"Hey, M-Monika." Sayori practiced in the bathroom mirror, judging her facial expression and tone as if she were an actor preparing for an audition.
"Hey, Monika~." She tried flirtatiously.
"Monika, this is for you." she held the box of chocolates and rose towards her reflection.
"I'm such a doooork...." Sayori whined.
~~~

Monika finally pushed through the crowd of her fans, quickly closing herself in the Literature Club room with a sigh of relief.

"What's with the crowd?" Sayori asked, coming in soon after.

"People waiting to give me stuff." Monika explained exhaustedly.

Sayori nodded, a twinge of jealousy as she realized how much competition she was up against for Monika's attention.

"I-I um... Actually..." Sayori reached into her bag as Monika's eyes widened.

S-She got me something!

"T-This is for you." Sayori timidly held out the box, with a red rose taped to the lid.

"Oh, Sayori... Thank you..." Monika whispered as she took it, cradling them against her chest.

"So, S-Sayori... U-Um... I was wondering..." Monika said, setting the items on her desk.

"Y-Yeah?" Sayori's heart fluttered as Monika stepped closer.

"I-I wanted to know if you... W-Would you... I-I mean..." Monika stuttered, glancing down at her feet.

Sayori licked her lips, drawing a shaky breath in anticipation.

"Go out with me..?" Monika finally managed, looking up to meet Sayori's sparkling blue orbs.

Sayori blushed, her eyes widening as her jaw went slack.

"M-Me?" Sayori asked as if Monika could've meant literally anyone else.

"Y-Yeah..." Monika nodded.

"I-I... I'd love to!" Sayori said finally, "Oh my gosh, yeah!"

Monika chuckled, feeling relieved at Sayori's response.

"G-Great!" Monika smiled brightly.

Monika leaned in, kissing her cheek quickly.

Sayori blushed, touching the spot gingerly as a dopey grin stretched across her face.

Ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod....

"W-Well... T-Thank you! I-I'm so glad." Monika said, clasping her hands behind her back.

"Y-Yeah!" Sayori said absently.

Monika smiled at her, feeling her heart pound at the prospect of going on a date with the strawberry blonde princess before her.

"S-So when are we going out?" Sayori asked.

"H-How about today? A-After club?" Monika suggested.

"Don't bother waiting. Me and Yuri can go home so you two can get to it." Natsuki winked from the doorway, Yuri by her side.

Yuri nodded, a suggestive smirk thrown Monika's way as the brunette blushed deeply.

"O-Okay..." Sayori said softly as she blushed as well.

Monika nodded, taking Sayori's hand in her own as they made their way towards her car.
