Chat Part One

Chapter 33

Sayori was running, chasing after Monika.

She heard a low growl, turning her head as a tiger pounced on her.

She gazed into a pair of familiar orange eyes- er, eye, as one was covered by aqua fur- and instantly knew who it was.

"Dev..?" Sayori whimpered.

In response she only received a low growl.

"Dev, let me go! I have to get to Monika!" Sayori begged, struggling to get out from under Dev's massive paw.

"No." Dev growled lowly, sending a shiver through Sayori's spine.

"Why not? I have to save her, Dev!" Sayori squirmed.

"No." Dev repeated, "You'll get hurt."

"But she needs me, Dev! Please!" Sayori screamed.

"This is for your own good." Dev said.

There came a loud cry of pain, which Sayori instantly recognised as Monika's voice.

"If you go, they'll hurt you too." Dev said, pushing her paw harder against Sayori's neck.

Sayori coughed, scratching at Dev's paw as the tiger unconsciously suffocated her.

"Dev!- Monika! MONI!"

~~~
"MONI!" Sayori woke, heaving deep breaths.
She touched her neck, feeling an unusual heat sensation.
"Why would... What was... Why was Dev there..?" Sayori asked, utterly confused.
Looking outside, she guessed it was about ten in the morning.
Too late to go to school now...
Another thought instantly captured her attention.
Moni.
"I'm gonna need a ride." Sayori said to herself, reaching for her phone.
She dialed a number she hadn't given a second thought to since Dev's funeral.
~~~

"Hey, Blondie." a worker Sayori recognised from Dev's department said as she walked towards her.

"Hey, Yang..?" Sayori said in a questioning tone.

"That's my name, don't wear it out." Yang winked.

"Anyway, everyone at work misses you. I hope you'll give me a call sometime, let me know how you're doing?" Yang handed her a slip of paper with her phone number on it.

Sayori forced a smile, nodding slowly as she crammed the paper into her pocket.

Later that night she entered the number, never to give it another thought.

~~~
Until today.
"Yo, this is Yang Xiao Long. Who's this?" a familiar voice asked.
"Hi, um... It's Sayori." Sayori said slowly.
"Hey, Blondie!" Yang laughed, "Why're you calling right now? Shouldn't you be in school?"
"Yeah, uh.. I just... Needed a favor, please." Sayori said.
"Sure." Yang agreed.
"I need a ride somewhere." Sayori stated.
"Sure, can you make it to my work? Same place as always." Yang asked.
"Yeah. Thank you!" Sayori said before hanging up.
She darted around her room to get dressed, brushing her hair and putting the red bow Monika gave her a few weeks ago into it.
She darted out of the house and practically flew to the Mendy's she used to think of as a second home.
~~~

"Hey, Blondie." Yang was seated in a yellow car, the top down.

Sayori slid into the backseat, since the passenger was occupied by a girl with raven hair reading a book.

"Where to?" Yang asked, revving the engine.

"Park Productions." Sayori said.

"Woah, little buddy. That seems kinda far. Why do you need to go all the way out there, anyway?" Yang asked.

"It's just... Really important to me." Sayori explained.

"Well I'm cool with it, I guess. What about you, babe?" Yang nudged the girl beside her.

"Huh? Oh, I don't mind." she shrugged, going back to her book.

"Road trip!" Yang pumped a fist in the air, driving off.

Sorry, Moni. Looks like I'll have to skip club today.

~~~
"Hey, everyone! Sorry I'm late I was-" Monika paused, noticing Sayori wasn't there.
"Where's Sayori?" Monika asked.
"I don't know. She wasn't in class today.." Natsuki said, trying to mask the worry she also felt.
"I'm sure she's okay." Yuri said calmly, having received a text from said friend during lunch.
"Yuri." Monika flicked her eyes to her cousin, "What do you know?"
"I have no idea what you mean." Yuri raised her glass of tea to conceal her smirk.
"Tell me!" Monika demanded, planting her hands on her hips.
"Yuri." Natsuki cocked an eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest.
Yuri shrunk back a bit now that all the attention in the room was on her.
"Okay! I know where she is!" Yuri broke.
"Where is she, then?" Monika growled.
"She's at Park Productions!" Yuri admitted.
"What?!" Monika and Natsuki exclaimed in unison.
"That's like, ten miles from here!" Natsuki said, stunned.
"How is she even going to get there?" Monika asked.
"A friend is taking her, she said." Yuri said softly.
Sorry, Sayori... They forced it out of me...
"Well, I'm going to get her." Natsuki said, slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"How? You don't have a car!" Yuri reasoned.
"I'll walk. I'm not letting some complete stranger waltz around with my best friend doing who knows what!" Natsuki was growing anxious.
"I'll drive you. You probably don't know how to get there." Monika gulped, grabbing her keys.
"You comin', Ri?" Monika asked.
"Of course I will. Sayori is my friend as well." Yuri sighed, closing her book and standing as well.
The three girls quickly made their way outside, climbing into Monika's car.
"Everyone buckled?" Monika revved the engine.
"Good, let's go." Monika answered before anyone could say anything.
Natsuki shrieked, gripping her seat as Monika (way faster than the speed limit, may I add) sped off towards her parent's company.
Sayori, I don't know what you're planning... But with my parents, it won't end well...
