That One Selfie (Benedict Cumberbatch One Shot)

Don't you hate it when you finally meet your idol and suddenly the atmosphere around you gets dull? And then you spend most of the time looking for that one space with the right lighting and shadow in order to take that one selfie which would change your life?Well, this girl surprisingly meets her one idol, Benedict Cumberbatch, in the stands of a theater and she will do anything to gain that one selfie. Will it all the effort be worth it or will she get another shot? (Moved into this book officially!)

---------------------------------------------

It was about 4:00pm and I was sitting next to my friend, Elizabeth. We were both at the Alexandra theater watching Wizard of Oz.

It was something that we had both adored and since we were both teenagers, turning up to something like this alone was a miracle.

The play had now finished after a long four hours and me and Elizabeth were joking about catching a glimpse of a celebrity.

"Oh come on! We will never see anyone." I said grabbing my bag and hooking it onto my shoulder right after I wrestled it through my thick hair. "We had already missed the tickets to see Benedict in Hamlet remember?" Elizabeth sighed, grabbing her jean jacket and slipping it on.

"Well, if you had ever met him, what would you do? I would probably faint with happiness and shock, but then go crazy after!" I smiled tucking my hands into my short pockets and I felt my phone. I instantly took it out, fiddling with it as I attempted to respond to Elizabeth's question.

"I would... take the ultimate selfie! But, I would need to find the right place or it wouldn't be worth it-"

"Um... Scarlett?"

"I mean yeh, it would be cool but-"

"Scarlett!"

"What?"

"Um..." All of a sudden, Elizabeth didn't talk, she just pointed into the distance. "It's him!" I tried to find out where she was pointing and I noticed a rather large crowd in a section of the stadium.

"Who?"

"Benedict!" I began to laugh, grabbing my friend's shoulder.

"Oh, come on! I know we were talking about him, but he isn't here." Elizabeth tried to talk and she did, she stuttered her words.

"He-he-he is! I'm not lying!"

"Maybe it's... just an illusion!" Elizabeth was still staring in the distance at the group, when suddenly I had a bright idea.

"We should-"

"I know, how about I go and see if it's him and if it is I owe you a fiver. How about that?" Elizabeth nodded as I walked away from her.

"Scar! You had better get that fiver ready!" I chuckled quietly as I walked in the direction of the crowd.

The only problem was everyone was blocking the view, so I couldn't see him. That is if it was him. My eyes rolled over a set of stairs which looked closed but they lead to the man. I hopped over, ducking so that I wasn't seen.

I literally crawled to the man and it was quite funny, since he was hiding behind the back of a seat as if he was being attacked!

As I got closer, I thought that my eyes had deceived me as I saw a set of blue eyes underneath the man's sunglasses and they were just like his. But, that didn't really prove anything.

I drew nearer and nearer to the man and I suddenly stopped.

His face did resemble Benedict!

I let out a big gasp, covering my mouth. I nearly crawled away until I heard a noise, which was Benedict's voice.

"Excuse me!" He whispered. "Hello?" I slowly turned around. Shit. I wasn't even supposed to be here, let alone meeting a celebrity.

"Yes..." I said, my face looking slightly guilty.

"Would you... get me out of here?" If you do I will give you anything you want. An autograph, a picture... anything." Ha. Like I could ever refuse that offer.

Wait... I could so toy with this conversation. Let's see how far he would go.

"Can I have a selfie?" He quickly responded to everything I had said, and they were never negative.

"Yes."

"A selfie wherever I want it to be?"

"Yes."

"Even if we walk around all day for it?"

"... Yes."

"And can my friend-"

"Yes okay! Yes!" He shouted, panting for breath. "Just please... get me out of here..." I smiled, opening my bag and taking out a piece of clothing. It looked a bit girly but it was the least that I could do.

"Here. Put this on." I gave it to him, Benedict raising an eyebrow. "What?"

"It has... a bright purple unicorn on it..." I began to laugh under my breath.

"Would you rather be eaten by a crowd of girls?" He shook his head. "Well, go on. I'll distract them. You can crawl away through the back door." After a few minutes of staring at the hoodie, he finally pulled it over his head. I peeked my head above the seat and got up, spreading my arms out. "Right! Now, how are you all?" The group fell quiet and I saw my friend giggling in the distance. "I am fine thanks for asking. Now, let me tell you a joke. There are two boys, both have seen a bear and one of the boys begins to put on his tennis shoes. One boy says to the other, 'what are you doing? You cannot outrun a bear!' The other boy then laughs and says 'I don't have to outrun the bear- I just have to outrun you!'" I laugh, hoping the audience would laugh with me, but no, they just stared at me blankly. On the other hand, Elizabeth was laughing as she knew I had got that from The Imitation Game, a joke which Alan Turning used.

I looked back and noticed Benedict smiling at me as he ran out of the door.

All of a sudden, I was towered over by many girls who were looking for Benedict, so I also ran out of the back door, panting.

"Phew... that was... hard..."

"Yes... Thank you. Now, what did you want?" I grinned, grabbing my phone, waving it in front of his face. "Oh yes."

"Come on!" I began to walk, Benedict just standing there and I was wondering why. "What?"

"Do I have to wear this ridiculous hoodie?" I sighed.

"Yes! You do. Come on!" I grabbed hold of his arms, pulling him like he was a child.

I began to scan the whole theater, looking for a right place to take this selfie.

Nope. Not there. No. No. No.

I just couldn't find the right spot.

I kept taking pictures just to see if the lighting was right, but no. In some places the sun was too bright and sometimes, it was to dull that our faces were blacked out. I could tell that Benedict was getting hot and bothered in that hoodie I gave him, so he pulled down his hood. I swiftly ran towards him, pulling it back up.

"What are you doing?"

"If anyone recognises you, it's over!" He sighed, straightening the hood and still stared at the purple unicorn on the hoodie.

After about thirty minutes of searching for the correct spot, Benedict had diverted my attention to a perfect scene.

It was a waterfall and the droplets glistened in the sunlight. It was the correct spot.

I grabbed Benedict's arm and placed him in the correct place by the waterfall and I heard him groan.

"Sorry..."

"It's fine. It's the least I can do for someone who practically saved my life!" I smiled at him and began to place my phone in the right position.

I then heard the one noise which would assure that the photo was taken.

I twisted the phone to our view, laughing with Benedict because of his purple unicorn on the hoodie!

Yes. It was the best.

The best photo ever... I mean the best SELFIE EVAH!
