Bloomin' Lovely One Shot

Lily lay on the grass, her legs being brought back and forth.

She held a book in her hand, one which her Mother had read to her as a young child.

Alice In Wonderland.

The twist of a different world with the most aspiring of creatures.

The wildlife.

The forever growing plants.

Lily smiled as her eyes hovered over the page, only to notice that the rabbit had jumped down the hole.

"E-excuse me." Lily frowned and she peered over her shoulder, no indication of a figure around her.

She shrugs and returns to her reading. "H-hello?" Lily sighs and turns around, only to be blinded by the sunlight, until she glimpses at a man who had wore some sunglasses.

She rushes to her feet.

"Sorry, I was... reading." Lily clears her throat. "Can I help?" He smiles, before removing his sunglasses from his face.

His eyes twinkled a unique blue colour and Lily gasped lightly.

"Yes, I... I was wondering if you knew where Notting Hill gate was?" The man chuckles. "I'm meeting a friend and well, I guess my age reflects my memory." Lily smirked and points in the distance.

"I would..." She hummed to herself, thinking. "... go and grab the 309 from Oxford Street, it'll take you straight there." He nodded and rubs the back of his neck.

"Thank you very much." He takes a deep inhale. "I'm Benedict." Benedict holds out his hand and Lily shakes it. "People call me Ben."

"Cool." She smiles.

"And... do you have a name to go with your nice personality?" Lily blushed.

"It's Lily."

"Lily, that's a nice name." She simpered.

"Thank you."

"Well, Lily, since I have a few hours free, would you mind... joining me for a small coffee?" Lily leaned down and grabbed her book, which brushed against a flower.

"Of course. You owe me." Lily giggled and walked away with Benedict.

And left behind, was the flower.

The flower that had sat there to grab hold of this memory and many more to come...

--A few weeks later--

And this time, the flower had slowly grew, its features beginning to pop out.

The gentle breeze caused it to sway slowly and it had begun to flourish.

"Stop it!" Lily giggles, crying out.

"What?" Benedict lift an eyebrow and straightened himself against the tree bark. "I like annoying you." He growls and Lily, presses her fingers against his chest.

"Shut up." Benedict chuckles.

"Or what?"

"Or I'll kiss you." He leans his arm around Lily's shoulder.

"I'm happy to oblige..." Lily smiles.

"Don't even..." She leans forward, looking at his lips. "... make me."

"Oh... will I be a rebel if I do?"

"I guess so."

"So be it."

"Wha-" Benedict pulled Lily into his, smacking his lips onto hers.

Lily moaned quietly and Benedict caressed her cheek.

And behind them, just behind them.

Stood the flower.

Ageing as it should have and decomposing.

As did every bit of Mother Nature.

--A few months after--

The flower once again had sat by a huge tree, which had sheltered it from the months of treacherous weather.

Although, its glow had almost vanished along with its fresh green leaves.

"I had a lovely night... thank you." Lily wrapped her arms around herself, treading with Benedict into the greenery.

"You're welcome." He intertwined his fingers into hers and smiled. Benedict stuffed his other hand into his pocket.

"To only think we met only a few months ago and how we have... developed." They both smiled.

"How we have blossomed." Lily simpers.

"Yes, to poetically put it." She leaned her body closer to his and their lips were in reach. "We met right here." Lily smiles and pulls Benedict from his position. "Over there."

They step on common ground. "Here..."

"I know." They waved their hands back and forth.

Lily let out a sigh, and looked around, Benedict snipping off a small part of nature.

He reached into his pocket and took out a box.

"Lily." She glanced at him. "A Lily." Lily had pecked Benedict on his cheek, taking it from his hands.

"Thank you..."

"And this." He brought her attention to the box.

She gasped as though it was yesterday and opened it.

"I love you. Marry me." Lily dropped the flower upon excitement and moved her lips towards Benedict's.

"I will, Mr Cumberbatch." She finished with the words to seal them for eternity. "I love you."

And now below them.

Lay the flower - a Lily.

Its time almost up.

But nature would carry on blooming...

And the cycle would start again.
